Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • At the very beginning of the episode, an elderly woman accused of witchcraft is dunked in river water using a "ducking stool". She later dies due to this. Bloodless but quite dark and an emotional moment.
  • Multiple re-animated dead bodies are seen with cracked grey skin and black sludge leaking out of them. Non-realistic, but somewhat gruesome.
  • A character is stabbed in the back of the foot by the tendril of an alien creature. We see the wound with some brief black gore and the mud-like blood of the aliens, as if the wound has become infected. The same character is later seen to have the same appearance as the possessed corpses from earlier on in the episode.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Considering that this episode is based around the real-life witch trials that occurred in Britain, the thematic material is quite dark, and some more disturbing elements (such as the witch-ducking) are shown.
