Quotes

  • James Olsen : Lena Luthor calling me. What's up?

Lena Luthor : I really needed to hear your voice.

    James Olsen : Everything okay?

Lena Luthor : I owe you an apology.

    James Olsen : What for?

Lena Luthor : For ghosting you. For keeping secrets. But it's time to be honest.

    James Olsen : About?

  • Winn Schott : Okay, this is Eagle in the nest. How're you doing, Baby Bird?

    Guardian : No.

Winn Schott : Oh, come on! I like that one. Are you in?

Guardian : Yeah, I'm in Lena's lab. Where's the vault?

Winn Schott : Head north. Or wait, more helpfully, left.

  • Winn Schott : And the cameras are officially disabled. You're welcome.

    Guardian : Good work.

    [taking his helmet off]

James Olsen : I don't know how anybody survived three Worldkillers in here.

Winn Schott : Yeah, man, I am glad I wasn't there.

James Olsen : Yeah, cheers to that.

  • James Olsen : Speaking of Lena, I got eyes on the vault.

Winn Schott : Impressive, I know.

James Olsen : Yeah. It's almost as if she didn't want anybody to get in there.

Winn Schott : Yeah, no keypads, no locks, no internal mechanisms, just thick, acetylene-resistant cast iron. But, hey, you got one thing Lena doesn't.

James Olsen : Yeah, what's that?

Winn Schott : Me, you dummy. Come on. Well, technically, the, uh, pin-drop pulse bomb I built you, but I built it, so, technically, me.

  • Winn Schott : Yeah, just, uh... just uh, set it anywhere, then walk, like, way far back, and then set it off. The door will open.

    [no reply]

Winn Schott : Hello, are you there? Did you do it? Are you in? James?

James Olsen : [choosing not to breach the vault]  Yeah, I'm in. Look, Winn, there's nothing here. Lena was telling the truth. She's clean.

Winn Schott : Well, thank goodness. I did not have the emotional bandwidth for another enemy, gotta tell you.

  • James Olsen : I'm Guardian.

Lena Luthor : Why are you telling me this?

James Olsen : Because I did something I'm not proud of. I broke into your lab. To determine if you had more Kryptonite.

Lena Luthor : Why would you do that?

James Olsen : I had to. For Supergirl; she asked me to.

    Lena Luthor : She did?

James Olsen : She did, but I am the one who said yes. So this is on me. But when I got in, I couldn't go into your vault. I mean, I-I could. I didn't want to. I didn't need to. I trust you. And I really hope that you can trust me.

    Lena Luthor : Yes.

    [she holds him for comfort]

Lena Luthor : There's something else you need to know.

    James Olsen : Hit me.

Lena Luthor : That wasn't Lex's Kryptonite. I figured out how to make it.

  • Lena Luthor : Sam Arias is Reign. Supergirl knows, and... and so do the appropriate authorities.

James Olsen : So when you were telling me about your employee that-that couldn't accept her problem...

Lena Luthor : I was working to rid Sam of Reign, to free her.

James Olsen : But she put Supergirl in a coma. How-how did you keep her under control?

Lena Luthor : The last of Lex's Kryptonite. And... and don't worry, Supergirl knows about that, too.

James Olsen : And you're telling me this now, why?

Lena Luthor : Because I gambled everything. My reputation, Supergirl's trust in me, my relationship with you, on fixing Sam. And I failed. I really needed to hear your voice today, and I didn't want you to look at me like I was a Luthor.

  • James Olsen : What's so important that you'd risk flying under a dying sun?

    Supergirl : Lena has Kryptonite.

James Olsen : Yeah, I know. She called me about an hour ago. She told me everything about Sam and Reign. Kara, she also told me that the Kryptonite was Lex's and she used it all, so...

Supergirl : Lex has been imprisoned for years, but she held onto it anyway. Kryptonite, James. Lex could have only had it for one reason.

James Olsen : To kill Clark.

  • James Olsen : Look, I-I know how hard this must be for you...

    [seeing her expression]

James Olsen : Okay. I know how bad Kryptonite is, and I've seen firsthand what it can do to you. And I can't even begin to imagine what kind of pain that must feel like. We have to get one thing clear, though. Lena is not Lex. I-it took me a long time to figure that out, but you're the one who made me see that.

Supergirl : The Lena I've known up 'till now has only been an ally. I want to believe her, but she lied about Sam. I have to know she's telling the truth.

James Olsen : What do you want me to do?

Supergirl : Not you. Guardian. I need you find out if there really isn't any Kryptonite left.

James Olsen : Kara, you're asking me to betray somebody that I really care about.

Supergirl : I really care about her, too. So let's put this to bed. Once and for all.

  • Lena Luthor : Surprised you'd want to see me.

James Olsen : You know, for quite some time, I've been looking for any reason... any reason I could to distrust you. It's-it's not your fault, it's just, um... Lex baggage, or whatever. But for the last two years, you have done nothing but prove me wrong.

    Lena Luthor : Until now.

James Olsen : No. No. The way I see it, your friend came to you with something unbearable. And you tried your best to help her carry it. You did everything in your power to help her, regardless of what that might look like to other people when they found out. And that's beautiful. That's somebody I want to know.
