That entry by the police was absolutely ridiculous. No tactics and completely fake. Some of the dealers are obviously fake as well.

Interesting docu-series but mainly staged scenes, although it can give you a rather accurate idea about the misery, death and violence spread by all kind of, at the moment, illegal chemicals all over American and Mexican communities.

Have to disagree knowing facts. But what may have been better understood is defining the subjective term "poverty." Because according to the legal definition, the show was correct. And in Detroit it is well over half.

I think it is harsh downgrading the show to a 2 just for that but it's your opinion so I will respect it. Having some knowledge both hearing it on blast now is not only well documented but also depressive.

I take away the true over all picture that the war on drugs is not a war, it is a political platform to award an agenda. If the United States had the power or backing like the Philippines, then you could call it a war and that this country is doing something about it.

This show is spot on showing drugs in people's lives in the United States. How other countries demonstrate the US as the best customer and why. Drugs rules many countries, fund many countries and facilitate disguised happiness; in the US, they just do it better. Once you cross that line no matter what the involvement is, it is tough if not impossible to cross back.

Enough of the psychology...series is well done, well edited and very complete with information on both sides.

Doesn't Flinch An Inch.

The amount of guts from this crew and team to show dozens of layers of heavy drug issues in America is incredible. From distributors to street dealers and addicts to local and federal law enforcement - this series doesn't flinch an inch.

S1E4 on Chicago's endless crack problem was one of the first times that I can remember seeing mainstream reporting acknowledging how deadly and clausterphobic that the city really is.

Pretty good

This show is pretty interesting if you're interested in the drug world, or crime stories in general. It's just generally well put together and overall I really enjoy it. There are a few unbelievable stories that feel extremely scripted, but they don't really hurt the general feel or message of the episodes. My only main complaint with the series is that it's becoming increasingly dependent on extremely annoying shots of B-roll while blasting one of four songs, and over the course of the series those weird musical interludes become longer and more common. Feels like a dumb complaint to have about an otherwise entertaining show, but then again, I've heard "Devil's Playground" or "Gimme That Money" at least twenty times each over the course of three seasons. As long as the sound engineer chills out this show will remain one of my Netflix go-tos.

I enjoyed watching this TV serious. it shows you so much about what we really have going on in the world of guns and drugs and its in depth. I think if you have the time you should definitely check it out.

The lowest of the scum

The people involved with making this documentary (and not the people featured) are the lowest of the scum. Just reinforcing the stereotypes and riding the suffering of others for their own material gain. The only consequence would be a mob asking for more violence and more arrests.

Narration is slightly ridiculous

The research behind the show is impressive. It's believable and neutral, not glamorous or romanticized in any way. However the narrator's tone is dramatic, gloomy and overdrawn in a ridiculous way. Southern America and the Spanish language make plenty of appearances which would warrant finding someone who can pronounce Spanish at least passably well.

I watched the first season and found it successful, it seems to be the series in its description, but it became a series-documentary. It is a traceable program. I watched the first season one by one.

This show is like a dollar store docuseries. Based on over-dramatic presentation, fake "dealers" and butt-rock soundtrack, it's more comparable to something like Discovery's Pawn Stars or American Chopper than anything that is based in fact or reality.

Really disappointed when I watched this. Do yourself a favor and skip it.

Entertaining but seems unbelievable

This show is entertaining. It scratches my lizard brain and I want to like it. It's easy to watch with a clear storyline of good guys, bad guys, high money stakes, and tension. But, there are a few things that make it hard to believe are real when you take a step back. It seems heavily dramatized or reenacted.

First, they are filming drug dealers in action. Even if they disguise their identity, it seems hard to believe that a drug dealer would sign a legal document agreeing to be filmed on location going about their day, especially the cartel, when the crew is also filming with cops nearby.

Second, some of the drug dealers do "meet in a junkyard" type of things that seem like someone who wants to portray a drug dealer without knowing one would do.

Third, when they film the cops, there's always a bust or some real cop action that makes them look good. It gives the viewer resolution but it seems like the crew got very lucky to have that happen as often as it was shown in the premise of a few days on location. Was it luck or staged?

Overall, good ambient programming but hardly a documentary.

Could Have Been Good

A decent documentary that is ruined by a horrible music selection that serves no purpose than to glorify the criminal behavior behind drug trafficking and dealing. Even the narrator's voice inflections suggest that drugs and violence are to be given respect.

The footage and access to the otherwise hidden world of the underbelly of the drug world was of good quality and the major saving grace of the show. However just about every chance the writers/directors had to progress the individuals lives within this documentary were missed.

None of the people in this documentary were explored for any reason other than as a prop in a really shallow scene either involving drug trafficking or abuse.

Might be good if it weren't for erroneous statistics

I started watching the first episode with some interest. It is about Chicago - a place which I've lived for the past 7 years. I had to turn it off when they started to grossly exaggerate crime and poverty statistics. I understand the documentary is about crime and poverty, but saying things like "Nearly half of Chicago's residents are living in poverty" is just 100% wrong. Check your facts.

The saying that in a war someone wins is the epitome of this godawful BS of a series. The fact that this manufactured"war on drugs" is in place on purpose. Justifying police departments to buy ever more lethal arms, allowing guns to show up on streets. If you don't want guns on the street why enact law after law that allows people to get them easier than a hot meal?

All this series shows is how stupid "drug enforcement" is.

Great Show- hard to watch

Not hard to watch for the reason that you might think. Hard to watch cause of the most Godawful Heavy Metal soundtrack ever. Hard to mess up an interesting subject like this, but the inept documentarians behind this show sure do their best.

Faked, staged and shallow

This is not documentary. This is staged movie with unrealistic story and they are all actors of course. However, it could be entertaining to watch if you are child, teeneger or if you do not know anything about the storyline. That is why I graded with the three stars.
