White moose exist and are very rare. Often thought of as albino, the animals appear white as a result of a partial loss of pigmentation in the skin and hair, but don't have red eyes. The colour is the result of a recessive gene strain called the Armstrong White Gene Strain, named after Jane Armstrong who discovered the first white moose in Foleyet over 40 years ago
