smart and hilarious

Cool and edgy and hilarious without being crude and creepy.

We absolutely LOVED and appreciated that James didn't go the gutter route with the easy laughs usually found in using mindless cringe-worthy vocabulary and in mocking people or cultures or .... He went the no crude - no rude, class over crass route. There aren't many comedians / writers / performers / anyone really brave enough to do that these days. He just doesn't need to. Plus, he gets a wider audience. This is clever fresh air observational craziness-of-life hilarity. None of the usual tripe here.

Am eager to watch the rest of the series.

James Acaster - equal parts surly and whimsical

A wonderful rare odd mind. Part observational comedy, part performance art, all hilarious. Can't recommend it enough. For fans of Dylan Moran and things that give you joy while also reminding you of your own mortality.

Warning: Spoilers
This has become my comfort stand up comedy routine and I rewatch it every couple of years. The jokes are completely out of left field. Every bit flows seamlessly back and forth between the other bits, and at the end it gets a little more transparent. A little more real. It becomes apparent that these jokes full of unique mundane observations and imaginary scenarios are describing a more relatable pain underneath: breakups, losing your identity, the grudge of being called too good for a free banana. All of it delivered with a heavy British accent, by a tall green wearing lad that commands the stage with every eyebrow raise perfectly timed. A delightful whimsical show from start to finish.
