Léo is a creation of his interpreter, Fabien Cloutier, who co-wrote the episodes starring this down-to-Earth, lovable, village bum, who overcomes his old past irresponsible habits to become a real man, but sticking partly to his pot smoking and beer drinking.
Starting from the pilot realiziing that he is gone too far in his irresponsible matters and at an age where you are supposed to be living confortably (in his 40s), Leo goes to everything: get a job, get along with his friends and workmates, rejecting his former bum life (though the local bums are not enjoying his new straight life...) and finally fall in love with Cindy, who works at the pastry factory.
What I do like is this time, we did shoot outside of the urban world and get into the countryside. If we wonder where Walton is, might be in the line between Estrie and Beauce counties (at one episode, a village member says it's a 3-hour drive to Montreal....), where hunting, fishing and enjoy country life is way cool...
And it makes the effort not to make fun of ethnics (a Russian gives him a lesson here in one episode) or mentally challenged persons (like Cindy's brother Yannick, who loves hockey !)
A series to discover with a good beer in hand...
