surreal and brilliant

I'm not going to give anything away, but this must be one of the best tv shows ever. Intelligent, full of strange but odly likeable characters, laught out loud funny, touching, totally addictive. Please come back for series three - and please give our hero a warm blanket and something hot to drink.

Please don't let this be the last season. I couldn't bear it. It was pretty good.

Season 3 please!
Doodlebug14924 July 2020
I'm not going to give too much away, but the brilliant irony and black humor of season 1 carry over to 2. However, the characters become more complex and story telling more layered and dark. Some will walk away unfulfilled and in demand of another season. But this isn't a rounded out feel good show. It's the lengths a individual, who has slowly been dehumanised, will go to get from 'a' to 'b'. In the end, we really don't know what the 'b' is. All the actors are on point, but Michael Dorman and Kurtwood Smith are magnificent, and together provide the greatest moments of humor and honesty. A series worthy of your commitment.

I truly loved this show

I only recently heard about this show. I absolutely loved it and binged it for 2 days. This show was maybe one of the best shows I've ever watched. And I watch a lot. It was smart, funny, surprising, quirky, emotional and was just one of those shows that you have to tell people about. A show that you hope everyone gets a chance to experience. That's what it was for me. An experience. I am more than upset that it will not be renewed for a 3rd season. I am really going to miss some of the characters. Especially John Tavner. Hope the writers carry on with the premise of the show or at least the awesome character backgrounds and the fun and original music! Guns of Paris had to be my favorite. XOXO

Unassumingly brilliant

One of the best TV series I've seen. Seriously. How has this not been made more public? Just like the protagonist this show is unassumingly brilliant. Great characters, dialogue worthy of Elmore Leonard on mushrooms, sincerely beautiful cinematography and the antagonist is simply captivating. A rolling gripping storyline with plot turns galore. Easy to watch and even easier to be sucked in by these amazing characters and their foibles, failures and small victories. I'm already looking forward to watching it again. This is the first review I've ever written on IMDB because I just had to share how good it was. So very very good.

One of the best show ever

One of the best shows ever. John is such a more complex character than he seems to let us in on. The cast is superb, the acting and directing is masterful.

Please make a third season!

Very original

This is a one of a kind gem. As most of these reviews praise the show, I would definitely agree. A fantastic dark comedy and keeps you guessing. The entire show is centered around numerous ups made by almost all parties involved. Season 1 was great and made you feel like you were apart of the "organized chaos". However, season 2 adds you to this chaos and you can really connect to the characters. Great show and I am really really hoping this isn't the last season (looks like it could be). All in all, totally worth a watch!

Amazing television

Warning: Spoilers
It is mind boggling to me that we only get 2 seasons out of Patriot with no awards, while Barry got 4 seasons and swept the floor at the Emmys. Barry is spectacular of course, but Patriot in my opinion, is equally comparable and one of the finest pieces of absurdist comedy I've ever seen.

I absolutely loved how the show went from the hilarious and absurd to diving deeper into the darkness, as the process of John repeatedly mentally checking out has left him to be a husk of a man.

The final scene of John staring into space before slowly breaking down as the realisation of him being okay finally sinking in was incredible. But is he actually okay? I guess we'll never know, which is perhaps pretty apt for the show, so I'd say it's kinda cool.
