Sony Pictures is playing a little release date shuffle this Friday evening. Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was originally slated to hit theaters on August 30th, but the film has now been pushed back to a December 13th release. Kraven the Hunter‘s fresh release date was already occupied by the new Karate Kid movie, which has now been bumped to May 30, 2025.
Kraven the Hunter has been delayed several times already, but hopefully, this will be the last move. Coming on the heels of the less-than-impressive debuts of Morbius and Madame Web, this Spider-Man spin-off has a lot to prove, but with an R-rated edge, it could just turn the tide. Director J.C. Chandor has previously described the movie as a tragedy. “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this. but the story is a tragedy,” Chandor said last summer. “When the final credits roll on this film,...

One of the biggest kids series on the planet is coming to the big screen. DreamWorks Animation is in the works on “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” and has set it for release on September 26, 2025 from Universal Pictures.
“Gabby’s Dollhouse” is the DreamWorks mixed media series for preschoolers that airs on Netflix and, according to Nielsen, was the most-streamed series that’s original to streaming in 2023. Each episode follows a girl named Gabby unboxing a surprise before jumping into a fantastical animated world of adorable cats living inside Gabby’s dollhouse.
Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, who created the series, are executive producing the “Gabby’s Dollhouse” movie. Ryan Crego, who earned a Children’s and Family Emmy nomination for his TV feature “Arlo the Alligator Boy,” is directing the film.
In the new film, Gabby heads out on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi to the urban wonderland of Cat Francisco.

Bill Burr was in the middle of a standup set in the original room at The Comedy Cellar when his cell phone rang: It was Jerry Seinfeld. What do you do? Burr answered.
Seinfeld wanted Burr to play JFK in his Pop-Tarts (fake) origin story, “Unfrosted.” Burr immediately accepted the role — and then went back to telling jokes to the paying customers.
It was the fastest (and the most public) “yes” that Seinfeld and his writing partner Spike Feresten say they got from a tremendous ensemble comedy cast that includes Seinfeld himself, as well as Jim Gaffigan, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler, Hugh Grant, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer — there’s honestly just too many to list. That wasn’t always the case.

While shows like WandaVision and Loki seem to be all anyone can think of when someone says “Marvel TV,” let’s not forget where it all began. Marvel Television was created all the way back in 2010 and the first project that was released through it was Agents of Shield in which actress Ming-Na Wen played the role of Melinda May.
ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
And now, Ming-Na Wen has finally spoken up about the division between the shows created for traditional television and those developed for streaming platforms. The actress believes that her show, Agents of Shield, deserves an accolade or acknowledgment for launching Marvel Studios into the television space.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace celebrates a major milestone this year, and fans will never forget how the movie created a divisive opinion among its viewers, particularly on the matter of Jar Jar Binks.
Jar Jar Binks
The character was beloved by some and hated by many, and this remains a mystery among the cast and crew. Fans did not like the figure because of his clownish behavior and was too cartoonish for the movie.
Star Wars Actor Liam Neeson Reacted To Jar Jar Binks Issue
In an interview with Empire, Liam Neeson recalled how much he loved working with Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best. He admitted feeling offended after the surge of backlash on the character and the actor.
“Ahmed was so funny and inventive. Myself and Ewan were personally hurt and offended by the critical reaction to the character.”

This post contains spoilers for "Fallout" season 1.
In its first season, Prime Video's adaptation of the hugely popular video game series "Fallout" follows several heroes and villains who are still working to understand what's real in their worlds. Walton Goggins' movie star character, Cooper Howard, slowly comes to realize that America is making up an apocalypse to sell back to itself, while Brotherhood of Steel squire Maximus quickly learns that the powerful men he idolized as a kid aren't all they're cracked up to be. It's Ella Purnell's Vault-dweller Lucy, though, who gets the biggest reality check when she leaves her underground dwelling to explore a ruthless world with no place for the chipper sense of entitlement she was taught to convey.
Given the themes of the series, it's fitting that it's just as hard to tell what's real and what's not behind-the-scenes of "Fallout" as it is in front of the camera.

In the movie Dream Scenario, starring Nicholas Cage, a biology professor named Paul Matthews starts appearing in the nightmares of random people all over the country.
None of these people understand why, nor do they know anything about Paul beyond recognizing his unusual face -- which gives them flashbacks of the terrible dream.
Paul himself is perplexed because he has not intentionally done anything to these people, nor is he a Freddy Krueger-type monster who controls a higher plane of existence.
But when Paul becomes infamous for his cameo appearances in peoples' dreams, he begins to see scorn, fear, hatred, and eventually violence coming from people who hold him personally responsible for their nightmares.
As I finished Dream Scenario, I realized this is what some right-leaning celebrities must feel like.

Giancarlo Esposito looked back at his financial struggles this week, recalling a time when he considered ordering his own murder in pursuit of a life insurance payout for his family.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Jim & Sam show, Esposito said he went through two bankruptcies before landing Breaking Bad, as well as a foreclosure on his home. At his lowest, he told the hosts, he considered suicide.
“The first thing that had me think there was a way out, was my wife’s father — God rest his soul — Pops McManigal was in insurance,” Esposito said. “So I asked [my ex-wife], I started poking around, ‘How much am I insured for?’ And then she told me. My way out in my brain was, I said, ‘Hey, do you get life insurance, if someone commits suicide, do they get the bread?’ And my wife said, ‘Well, that’s kind of tricky.’”

We typically think of any actor who has appeared in movies and television as having it made, but that’s not the case for most working actors. In fact, before Giancarlo Esposito landed the role of Gus Fring on Breaking Bad, he was so broke that he was considering arranging his own murder for the life insurance money.
While speaking on Sirius Xm’s Jim & Sam show, Giancarlo Esposito revealed that the year before Breaking Bad, he was in dire financial straits and desperately looking for a way out. “My way out in my brain was…’Hey, do you get life insurance if someone commits suicide? Do they get the bread?’” Esposito said. “My wife had no idea why I was asking this stuff. I started scheming. If I got somebody to knock me off, death by misadventure, [my kids] would get the insurance. I had four kids. I wanted them to have a life.

Giancarlo Esposito appeared on a recent episode of SiriusXM’s “Jim & Sam” show while promoting his new AMC drama series “Parish” and revealed that he was so broke prior to landing his iconic role of Gus Fring on “Breaking Bad” that he once considered arranging his own murder so that his children could have some financial protection courtesy of his life insurance money. The actor considered this around 2008, a year before “Breaking Bad” inextricably changed his career and opened the door for roles in “The Mandalorian,” “The Boys” and more.
Asked how he got out of near bankruptcy around 2008, Esposito said, “My way out in my brain was: ‘Hey, do you get life insurance if someone commits suicide? Marshall Weinbaum, an admired publicist who has been a principal intermediary between The Walt Disney Studios and the press for the past 17 years, including on virtually every Disney Animation and Pixar project, is leaving the Mouse House to join Netflix’s awards team, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
He will be a manager of awards (animation), working under veteran Julie Tustin on awards campaigns for the streamer’s animated films, which have increasingly factored into the Oscar race. Indeed, over the past five years, Netflix has landed seven best animated feature Oscar nominations (at least one every year), winning for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio in 2022, and two best animated short Oscar nominations, winning for If Anything Happens I Love You in 2021.

It has been a lucky 13 years since Tom Hiddleston first played Loki, the God of Mischief in the film “Thor.” He returned to the role recently for season two of the TV series “Loki.” This Disney+ show provided a beautiful end (we’ll see) to the character’s epic arc.
The sophomore outing of the series seee Loki trying to save the universe with the help of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Mobius (Owen Wilson), and Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan). Kang (Jonathan Majors) is once again at the center of the trouble. The series is fantastical and is held together by the superb performance of Hiddleston. Once again, this classically trained actor brings Shakespearean authority to the role. He is also able to infuse increasing vulnerability to the former villain, making Loki one of the best characters in MCU history. Critics agree, “Loki” is the Tom Hiddleston show.

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
The 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home was seen as not only the third installment of a popular trilogy of Spider-Man films but also the celebration of two decades of Spider-Man in the cinema. Bringing together the worlds of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire was seen as a cinematic event on par with Avengers: Endgame.
Nearly three years later, Sony has been dropping the ball on nearly every Spider-Verse-related project, with massive flops such as Morbius and Madame Web. With Sony seemingly desperate to hang on to the Spider-Man license, they know they need the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film to be on equal footing with the previous film.
One of the rumored plots for the project would be a direct follow-up with both Garfield and Maguire returning, while Kevin Feige wants to start fresh.

Customers can access the MyDisney site to manage their accounts and marketing preferences across Disney services like Disney+ and Hulu.
Disney has the ability to offer different types of entertainment experiences in ways that none of its competitors can. The company has its TV and movie studios, of course, which churn out dozens of titles per year that eventually make their way to streamers like Disney+ and Hulu, but it also has its theme parks, cruise ships, as well as online shopping choices that customers can access from anywhere. It can be confusing to keep login information for websites that deliver these experiences and products straight, which is why Disney is rolling out the new “MyDisney” unified login ability to allow consumers to access all their various Disney accounts with a single username and passowrd.
The MyDisney experience will allow customers to log into Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ with one email and password combo.

Disney+ plans to launch new linear-tv-like channels with Star Wars or Marvel shows, according to a report from The Information. But don’t call them Fast channels, because considering the Disney+ subscription price, they wouldn’t be free.
First things first: IndieWire went straight to the source, a spokesperson for Disney’s streaming business, to inquire. The spokesperson declined comment. Shoot.
So then we went straight to the guy who coined the Fast acronym — it stands for Free, ad-Supported Streaming Television — for his opinion on the report.

Way back in 2002, the excitement for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones diminished somewhat. Late Night with Conan O’Brien sent Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to mock the fans lined up for the premiere, resulting in a segment in which comedian/puppeteer Robert Smigel launched nerd jokes at the assembly.
Most of the jokes were pretty obvious, including the last bit, in which a man cosplaying as Mr. Spock gained the knack for cursing and walked up and down the line with his middle finger extended. But while the perceived Star Wars vs. Star Trek rivalry has become an old toxic cliché at this point, the fact is that the two franchises don’t actually overlap very much in terms of their core missions. Trek favors optimistic philosophical inquiry and Wars emphasizes fantasy and adventure.

“Loki” could conjure up a Best Drama Series nomination this year and give Disney and Marvel representation at this year’s Emmys. The second season of “Loki” continues the journey of Tom Hiddleston‘s titular former villain as he attempts to save the multiverse. The move to add free streaming channels is the latest bid by Disney to increase engagement on its streaming platform.
Fresh off a proxy fight win against activist investor Nelson Peltz, Disney CEO Bob Iger is feeling confident and emboldened to fully enact his strategy to get the company’s streaming segment to profitability as soon as humanly possible. A new report from The Information suggests that the company will soon be bringing free ad-supported TV (Fast) channels on its flagship streaming service Disney+ in an effort to increase revenue and engagement. The plan reportedly will include around-the-clock linear channels that broadcast titles from Star Wars, Marvel, and other popular franchises owned by the company.
Disney+ will reportedly keep these channels behind a paywall, making them available only to subscribers. There are few details available as yet, such as the number of channels available or a launch date. Disney launched...

Critically acclaimed and Emmy-nominated, while it may not have matched the ratings of similar “Star Wars” shows like “The Mandalorian”—perhaps more adult and mature than expected— the “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” prequel spinoff series “Andor” was very adored by its fans. Already highly anticipated, the second season will be something special, according to the show’s creator/showrunner Tony Gilroy, who added to the hype. Gilroy is typically a bit more reserved, leaving the showboating for others, but even he suggested that “Andor” season two will be epic.

Disney has posed a robust defense against Gina Carano, the former star of The Mandalorian, who filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Co. in February 2021, alleging wrongful termination. Disney has submitted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and cited a constitutional right to dissociate themselves from Carano’s controversial anti-trans statements.
According to court records, Disney outlined its reasons for severing ties with Carano in the motion filed on Tuesday in California Central District federal court. The actress, known for her background in mixed martial arts, portrayed the character of bounty hunter Cara Dune.
The motion argues that Disney possesses the constitutional right to disassociate its artistic expression from Carano’s speech, invoking the First Amendment as a complete defense against her claims.

Star Wars Outlaws is only a few months away and fans of the franchise are cautiously optimistic about Ubisoft’s ambitious entry into the franchise. Being part of a well-established universe has its benefits and fair share of qualms but narrative director Navid Khavari’s heart is in the right place.
Khavari meant to deliver an authentic Star Wars experience and constantly reached out to Lucasfilm Games. Honoring what came before is the first step to true innovation and success.
Star Wars Outlaws Takes Place Between Star Wars Episodes 5 And 6 The narrative director of Star Wars Outlaws wanted to explore the era from a different perspective.
Khavari knew the risks of potentially tackling the most important moment in Star Wars history but did not falter. The director shared in an interview with GameInformer that the team behind the game would collaborate with Lucasfilm Games to naturally bridge the gaps between projects.

Gina Carano is once again slamming Disney.
If you were unaware, the 41-year-old actress was fired from the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian in early 2021 over controversial posts on social media. In response, she sued the company in February 2024 with the assistance of Elon Musk. She is seeking to be recast and paid for damages to her career.
On April 9, Disney filed a motion in court to have the case dismissed “on the grounds that Disney has a constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech, such that the First Amendment provides a complete defense to Carano’s claim.”
Following Disney‘s new motion, Gina took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to hit back at the company.

Gina Carano has written that the Walt Disney Company will “take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think or they will attempt to destroy your career,” issuing a social media response to the studio’s recent motion to dismiss the actor’s lawsuit against the company.
Carano starred on the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” for two seasons before being fired for in February 2021, after she analogized the treatment of modern-day conservatives to the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Carano sued the studio in February, arguing that Disney unlawfully retaliated against her for expressing her politics, as opposed to Disney’s preferred ideological views. The studio filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit Tuesday, arguing that it had a First Amendment right to fire the actor and that it had a “constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech.

“The Curse” has become one of the most talked-about shows this year with its idiosyncratic mix of cringe comedy, weird horror, marital drama, and sentiment proving to be a recipe for brilliance. The acclaimed Showtime drama series follows Nathan Fielder and Oscar winner Emma Stone as a newly married couple who host an HGTV show. They try to conceive a child as they navigate the effects of a curse.
Fielder and Stone’s performances propel the show to greatness and they are ably supported by Benny Safdie, who co-created the show with Fielder. He plays a desperate producer and while the role is scenery-chewing enough, it’s also a great role for filmmaker Safdie to once again show his acting chops, as noted by critics.
Nick Schager (The Daily Beast) proclaimed: “Safdie makes him a behind-the-scenes sorta-psycho who’s as compelling as his on-air compatriots, inhabiting Dougie with a brand...

Earlier, we posted an article discussing Disney’s attempt to get Gina Carano’s lawsuit against them dismissed. Carano filed the initial lawsuit in February against the company after she was terminated from Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars” due to a social media post she made on social media. Her statement was deemed “abhorrent” and “unacceptable” by the Lucasfilm Twitter account.
Carano claims that the dismissal and comments made impacted her career.
Yesterday, Disney tried to get the suit dismissed by doubling down on the original defense that the actress was being antisemitic, saying that she “ grotesquely trivialized the Holocaust.”

There was something fitting about the setting.
Paramount Pictures unveiled the first trailer from “Gladiator II” on the stage of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a Las Vegas hotel that reimagines Ancient Rome in all its decadent splendor, albeit with a few more slot machines. Director Ridley Scott seems to be offering a bloodier version of that distant age, one that finds Paul Mescal entering the arena as a nobleman who has renounced his privilege and finds himself in a life-and-death struggle for the amusement of the Roman people.
Based on the footage that Scott brought to Sin City to share with cinema owners, “Gladiator 2” recaptures the first film’s epic sprawl and shattering action sequences. The teaser saw Mescal face off against a charging rhino, a horde of vicious baboons, and Pedro Pascal, among other threats to his chiseled physique. Outside of the divisive reception of the recent Star Wars theatrical films and television shows, one of the biggest controversies surrounding the franchise was the ousting of former female Mma fighter turned actress Gina Carano. The actress, who portrayed the character of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian and was meant to star in the now-canceled series Rangers of the New Republic, was fired as a result of a social media post.
Carano made a post comparing the political climate of late 2020/early 2021 to that of Nazi Germany, where the Jewish people were harassed and attacked by their neighbors, and how that resembled the political cancel culture many were facing at the time of her post. Not long afterward, Lucasfilm announced her firing, despite other actors, such as Pedro Pascal, who had made similar social media posts.

The upcoming Star Wars: The Acolyte is all set to take us back to the days of the High Republic. The Disney+ show, set 100 years before the events of the Prequel Trilogy, was expected to excite the fans to explore an uncharted territory in the franchise so far. Sadly, the fans don’t seem so eager for it, especially after the release of the latest looks from the show.

“Disney had enough.”
In a filing Tuesday night to dismiss Gina Carano’s wrongful-discharge and sex-discrimination lawsuit over being fired from The Mandalorian, the Mouse House states that the former Mma fighter lost her Star Wars series job in 2021 because her decision “to publicly trivialize the Holocaust by comparing criticism of political conservatives to the annihilation of millions of Jewish people—notably, not ‘thousands’—was the final straw for Disney.”

Disney argued Tuesday that it had a First Amendment right to fire Gina Carano, the actor who played a bounty hunter on “The Mandalorian,” after she allegedly trivialized the Holocaust in an Instagram post.

New data from Ampere Analysis shows that shows like ‘The Last of Us’ have helped raise public perception of video game adaptations.
Many fans of the “Fallout” video game series are likely already burning through the first season of the TV adaptation on Prime Video. “Fallout” Season 1 bowed on Amazon’s streaming service on April 10, and initial reviews suggest that critics are just as excited about the show as those who spent thousands hours playing the games. Adaptations of video games have often been a tricky nut for studios to crack, but new data from Ampere Analysis shows that as the quality of such projects has improved, so too has their popularity.
Ampere’s data found that search volumes for video game adaptations have risen, while comic book adaptation searches have fallen. Fan perception of the quality of comic book adaptations has fallen, and studios are responding by making big changes to their comic franchises.

Enter The Acolyte, a series that takes us to 100 years before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Taking the show that far back will give us some fresh new characters, conflicts, and everything else you’d expect from a show set in that universe.
Everything we hear makes The Acolyte sound like Andor, which successfully told a story with a different lens than we’d gotten before in the Star Wars universe.

“Star Trek” has a storied history with the Emmys, but its recognition has usually come in below-the-line categories. The only times the franchise has made the cut for Best Drama Series were for the original series in 1967 and 1968 and “The Next Generation” in 1994. But this is a wide-open year for dramas at the Emmys, and there are eight slots to fill for Best Drama. Can “Discovery” or “Strange New Worlds” get the franchise into the top race for the first time in 30 years?
Of last year’s nominees for Best Drama Series, only “The Crown” is able to return. “Succession” and “Better Call Saul” ended their runs, while “Andor,” “House of the Dragon,” “The Last of Us,” “The White Lotus” and “Yellowjackets” won’t premiere new episodes in this eligibility period. That leaves seven available slots. It might still seem like an uphill climb for “Discovery” and “Strange New Worlds,...

Showtime’s “The Curse” is one of the most unique TV entries of the past year. The acclaimed drama series from Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie follows a newly married couple (Fielder and Oscar-winner Emma Stone) who host an HGTV show trying to conceive a child while navigating a curse.
The show’s tone and style, a satirical black comedy, makes for extraordinary viewing and while it is classified as a drama for awards purposes, it transcends genre classification in reality. Critics agree, this is one of the most unique and colorful TV shows out there.
Richard Roeper (Chicago Sun-Times) explained: “To its credit, ‘The Curse’ never takes its foot off the pedal, to the point where we’re absolutely sure Whitney and Asher are going to crash and burn — yet we’re still not prepared for the inspired lunacy of the fate that awaits them.”

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Whether or not we finally do get some new Star Wars on the big screen in the years to come, the future of the franchise is still very bright, thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, which has already expanded across multiple spinoffs full of Original Trilogy nostalgia and exciting new characters. In fact,...
