Phantom in the Twilight
Tweekums1 October 2018
As this series opens Ton Baileu and her friend Shinyao Mu arrive in London. Almost immediately they are robbed and as she chases the thief Ton finds herself in Café Forbidden, an establishment originally set up by her great grandmother. It stands on the border between the worlds of humans and shadows (supernatural beings). Not long afterwards Shinyao is kidnapped and Ton finds herself working alongside the Café's staff. These are members of Twilight, a group who want humanity to be at peace with the shadows.

This series was decent enough even if there are already plenty of anime series featuring supernatural beings. When the friends arrive in London we see plenty of little details to suggest the makers did their homework rather than just including a few iconic landmarks. Ton is a good central character and there is a sense of mystery about her family's past which provided extra interest. The antagonists are a little cliché and thus rather forgettable... as I fear the series will be before too long. Overall not a must see but it passed the time well enough while I was watching.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

I loved this so much

Phantom in the Twilight was more than enjoyable to watch. The characters were very well fleshed out, there was a lot of development especially with Ton and her best friend. The idea behind it all is not exactly unique, but it's presented in a fresh and new way. I found the villains a bit cliche, but except that, I liked everything. I recommend watching to those seeking cute fatasy series with just enough darkness and blood to make things interesting.
