Messed up "magical girl" anime.

My biggest problem with Magical Girl Site is the fact that it tries to present itself as a magical girl anime.

It is not a magical girl anime. Something that many magical girl fans, including myself, believe.

I believe that it's a very interesting and good anime by itself. As a different genre, maybe. Not a magical girl anime however.

This anime is very messed up, to say the least. Our protagonist is faced with extreme bullying from the beginning, as well as her brother being a complete douchebag. Then, she is seemingly blessed by the mysterious "Magical Girl Site". This website granted her with a weapon, which can teleport people to anywhere she wishes. It's up to her whether that be lethal or not.

I won't go into more detail, as I don't want to spoil anyone, but I think overall it's worth the watch.

It's better to just read the manga.

After reading the manga and watching the anime afterwards, there's a lot of differences already to be honest. However, I won't spoil them because that's for you guys to experience.

Struggle

I am just on first episode but I think , If I was in her shoes I would would have killed atleast those 3 girls and the brother even without that gun . I really feel frustrated when they just take that kind of violence and do nothing in return . And why was she upset with their deaths I would definitely have been happy. Killed the other two 😠😠

Twisted and horrid anime

Be forewarned: this anime has one of the most stupid, pointless non-endings existent. So if one decides to watch it and is disappointed by the "ending"... at least you won't be surprised.

Whatever morality lessons might have been taught from this is overshadowed by blood, gore and horror. Bottom line: this is a psychopathic horror anime... and not a good one. The main goal is shock schlock. The stories are poorly written super-emo. While one can sympathize and even rage at the terrible things the main characters experienced to make them what they are, what some become is as horrid (or moreso) than that which was inflicted upon them.

There are no heroes in this, the battles are nonsense, and nothing, but nothing is properly explained or resolved in this rather nasty piece of work. While I enjoy psychological anime, this falls fall short of well-conceived and instead caters to cliches (including a ridiculous beach episode in the middle of all this), unnecessarily gory fight scenes, and one of the most garbage, nonsensical endings I've seen in any anime.

If you decide to give this a skip you'll be doing yourself a favor. This anime caters to the lowest mental denominator. I got hooked in wondering how this was all going to end up. Never again.

An underrated gem

Despite the majority reviews and ratings on this anime calling it "senselessly violent" and "cliched", I'd heavily recommend one to at least watch a few episodes of the anime if you're into psychological/horror themed anime.The majority criticism I've seen has criticized the vary fact that it's meant to be dark and violent and sad unlike your regular happy-go-lucky magical girl type anime, the story and characters are spot on for the genre in my opinion and the story won't leave you disappointed until the end, where the show very blatantly sets itself up for a second season to explore the other elements in the show. Unfortunately, a second season isn't likely due to all the backlash on this anime, again, just for the reason of bringing a dark twist to the magical girl genre which most reviewers don't seem to be able to handle. This anime is not for everyone, especially if you're not the type to enjoy dark stories, but if you are, I cannot recommend this enough.

A Darker toned Magical Girl anime

I think we all know about Madoka Magica and its dark tone it took after episode 3, but here's an even darker Magical Girl anime, Magical Girl Site. A girl named Aya Asagiri gets bullied in school and tormented by her brother at home gets a strange link on her computer that shows a woman that gives her Magical powers. She finds a magical item in her locker at school that looks like a gun that can teleport people away, she used it on 2 bullies that end up killed by a train. Later she finds out from one of her classmates that she became a Magical Girl. She isn't the only one who is a Magical Girl however, for there are others that also suffered bad situations in their lives that got a magical item, but there are more to these items than blessings it seems. If you enjoyed the different takes of Magical Girl animes with Madoka and want to see an even darker twist, check this out, however what the anime shows isn't the whole story, so it's worth to check out the manga as well.

Recommondation

The anime is one of the "strongest" (not as strong as "Higurashi no naku koro ni"),what I have seen. ("Hellsing Ultimate" and/or "Berserk" are strong too, but they were in the most times bloody.) "Magical Girl Site" is very psychic and has very strong themes, so the physical violence isn't in the forground, what is in my opinion positive (Some Episodes contain large blood splatter effects, but their not really often)

The anime is based on the manga "Magical Girl Site" from Kentaro Sato, and has the same story line. The story is about an girl that want to die, because of her brother and the school,but there is one point that gives her a litte "reason" to live, but after the reason was "away" she found a site, called "Magical Girl Site" (jp. mahou shojou site) and met one of the "Administrators" of this site. So after that her life had changed.

The characters in the anime are quite interesting but most of them (all protagonists) have an really unstable psyche. It gives characters named "Magical Girls" like the protagonists, but this name isn't really suitable for the characters. Because of the named point of the unstable psyche the characters are violent, aggressive and disturbed.

In my opinion this anime put the contained themes very good together, and is really interesting to watch. I think its an "Drama" anime with some "horror" elements.

The story is quite interesting but in some points a little "exaggrated", but that isn't a big problem.

I hope I could recommondate this anime for somebody, and I hope you enjoyed the review!

Some cutesy visuals attracted the wrong crowd

The abysmal score is a consequence of viewers who were expecting something like Sailor Moon. In fact the tone and execution of this anime of pretty grim. I won't go as far as saying is profound but it touches the uneasy subject of misery. Girls who experienced unspeakable suffering at the hands of other people were selected to receive magical artefacts, or "sticks", as compensation. But that's just the surface of the story. Naturally the next plot waypoint is revenge.

And here is where, I guess, the dregs of the anime fandom got on their high horses and brought the show's rating even lower. People who watch harem anime on a regular basis are squeamish at the concept of revenge apparently. One reviewer, most likely a guy due to the vehement but dull rhetoric, was appalled that the girl characters engaged in retaliation. He considered them worse than their aggressors. Guess his expectations for typical anime eye candy thralls were not met.

In my opinion the story arced pretty well in tandem with the character development. Without giving anything away, throughout the entirety of the episodes the moral argument over revenge and victimhood will be touched. Consequently characters will alter their reasoning, some in a more believable fashion than others. Unlike what another reviewer stated, the protagonists are not all violent. At least not in an irrational way. Just one can be unreservedly be classified as a cold blooded murderer. The MC, for example, is an obnoxious paragon of righteousness. Her newly acquired best friend, on the other hand, is a vindictive realist. The show created a pretty good relationship dynamic, the two girls lending each other their strengths while alleviating their faults.

One minor criticism that I have for this show is that it utilises a couple of anime tropes like characters narrating their actions while in the middle of a fight. There is the matter of a rather... unfortunate choice of a wearable stick. While it did provide some good chuckles, its comical nature detracted from its importance plot-wise. The last episode also was a bit on the deus ex machina side, but not enough to become unpleasant.

The series conclusion was rewarding, announcing more things to come if the show ever gets a continuation. My verdict for this anime: it's really good. Although it would have benefited greatly by tipping the scales a little more in favour of vengeance rather than to saintly forgiveness. The satisfaction of seeing a certain antagonist getting properly disciplined was immeasurable. The same could not be said about the enemy turned ally of circumstance getting a happy ending.

Give it a chance if youre into dark serious themes :D

A nonstop ride to hell until the very end... literally in an awesome way! this show has had me on the edge of my seat yes it can get a little corny later on but its mix of dark humor and intense drama/ apocalyptic magical girl feel it has to it will make you want more!! YOU MUST WATCH IT :) im new here btw just had to drop by and express my love for this underrated show aha

This anime is one of the single best horror magical girl based animes; the anime was never supposed to be greating and it seems as if it gets more and more violent as the serise progresses, I don't write this as a critisisem and more as a realistic outlook at the world of magical girl powers I think the show is very good over-all with some minor tweaks to character development it could've even be perfect, sadly 12 episodes wasn't enough and I find a lot of missing plot holes that were never explored, some of the characters still feel 2D and it seems as if they are there just to enlarge the main cast of characters, I think that this show also explores real life issues and presents them in a way that really feels realistic. Aya overall was a nice character but she was pretty much the crybaby that always blames herself for things and it kind of gets old really fast to the point in which the viewer will presumably just hate her, all the other characters just lack some emotions which definitely gives away the 2D characters impression for me, but I think that most of the villans were great even if they weren't explored all that much (Ayas big brother definitely is one of the better characters in the show). Over all I like this show, I think it will hold a special place in my heart as a mind bending magical girl anime and it deserves so much more fame than it gets. 9/10

The beginning is very exaggerated, but with the passing of the episodes the anime is amazing! I'm more of staying on YouTube and watching anime / series little by little, but this anime is not, I managed to watch its 12 episodes in less than 2 weeks (I usually take 4-6 weeks to watch 8-12 episodes) I love it this anime is one of the best I've ever watched, I'm very sad that people who only watched the first episode come here to give low marks without even watching the rest

Not what I was expecting, but still very good.

I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to anime, as I only have watched around 20 or so. I found this one listed on Prime Video and decided to give it a watch. It is NOT a cute or funny anime in any way, as one would assume from the title. But it is however a powerful and emotional watch.

To give fair warning to people, if you watch it you will see violence. Not just guns blazing violence but the type of dark violence that may and should make you a bit squeamish. The topics of revenge, bullying, domestic abuse, suicide, rape, transphobia, molestation, murder, and self harm are all shown in this series.

You would think with all of this that it is not worth watching. But it does show redemption, friendship, love, and the power of not giving in to the darkness. It is a complex story at times, a bit funny at others, but I give it a lot of credit for taking the bad parts of teenage life in their full misery and making it into a story that is interesting and captivating.

I gave this 9 stars only because the first episode was extremely hard to watch. It is graphic and emotional and some may need to visit their therapist after watching. If you need a trigger warning, this is it. The show moves better and faster after the initial episode, and the final episodes are the type that you don't mind binge watching for 2 hours.

So you are warned, but also if you can handle it then it's a must watch. Unfortunately too many people have this negative reviews because it was darker than the name suggested, but if you know that in advance then there should be no reason to get into it if you aren't prepared.

Really good

Although the main character is sometimes annoying , is a good one, violent and kind of gore but I think there is not gonna be a 2nd season or maybe it will, let's keep waiting.
