Daveed Diggs 'Tunde' was a substitute teacher when a mutual friend introduced him to Lin-Manuel Miranda. The two bonded over their mutual love of hip-hop and Daveed was soon invited to join Lin-Manuel's rap group, "Freestyle Love Supreme."
Rosa Salazar (Alma) has said that in high school, she was a huge fan of Richard Linklater's rotoscoped film, "Waking Life" (2001), which was produced by "Undone" Executive Producer, Tommy Pallotta.
If you look closely at the background art of the series, you may notice brush strokes and subtle paint blending gradients, which are an organic product of the oil painting method.
The method of 'projection mapping' was used to turn the series' beautifully handcrafted oil paintings into 3D environments that the characters could move through and interact with.
Before Rosa Salazar had been considered for the role of 'Alma,' Animation Director Hisko Hulsing created preliminary drawings of the character to help sell the show. In an odd twist of fate, Rosa and those early 'Alma' drawings actually share an uncanny resemblance.
