Sex & Nudity

  • A girl sees a fully erect penis on her phone, and it is displayed next to a bottle for size comparison. Explicit male genitalia of a sexual nature, but no sight of female genitalia.

Violence & Gore

  • A teen girl is kidnapped in a parking lot a rag (possibly containing chloroform) is placed over her mouth her wrists and ankles are zip tied and she is shoved in a concealed compartment of a truck bed.
  • After overdosing, Rue has vomit smeared on her face as paramedics arrive. This may gross out some viewers.
  • There are some graphic references to rape and abuse.
  • Sexual violence is shown, particularly during the first season.
  • We see the violence on-screen and hear them referenced in dialogue as well.
  • There are violence in almost every single episode in the show so far.
  • Several characters are raped which may be a trigger for some.
  • Several wounds are show in the aftermath of violence.
  • The series contains a few shootings and stabbings with strong injury detail. While it's excessively bloody or gory, it's in your face when it happens and mostly used for impact.

  • There is a scene of strong violence, which features a significant focus on blood and injury detail. There is also a scene of domestic violence, and references to sexual violence and abuse.
  • Blood and gore is infrequent but when it happens there is lots of it.

He then uses the hammer to strike another man in the nose. Blood gushes as the man screams. He is later seen with bloody bandages covering his nose.

Profanity

  • Constant, pervasive uses of "fuck", "shit", "bitch", "pussy", and "dick"
  • There is sexual discussion. Including nudes, porn, and sexual organs. This occurs at random times throughout the series but it's typically moderate.
  • The word "cunt" is used on a few occasions.
  • Weaker language like "asshole", "bastard", "hoe", "damn", "hell", and "ass" are said.
  • Profanity is very frequent. Virtually every single character on the show regularly uses harsh language in one form or another.
  • "Fuck," "shit," "dick," "cock," "twat," "whore," "slut," "bitch," and other profanities are used throughout the show.
  • Curses range from "fuck" and "shit" to crude language like "cunt."
  • The series contains very strong coarse language that at times is aggressive, sexualised and episodically frequent, including use of the words 'c**t' and 'f**k', as well as lower-level coarse language.
  • Constant strong language, mostly involving "fuck" and all permutations, but also involving "shit," "cunt," "cock," and just about every other obscene word imaginable.
  • Cursing is frequent: "f--k," "s--t," "p---y," "a--hole," "bulls--t," "bitch," "d--k," a song contains the "N" word.
  • The word "faggot" is also used in the series.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Incredibly frequent teen drinking, vaping & drug use (resulting depravity), such as marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy & other pills and heroin & other opiates. A girl is also seen injecting hormones early on in the series.
  • The main character, Rue, is a recovering drug addict.
  • Teenage drinking is very frequent. Parties are shown with characters doing shots. A main character gets pretty drunk off vodka
  • A woman is seen injecting heroin.
  • Some marijuana smoking at parties.
  • Some prescription pill use like oxycontin and Xanax
  • A main character is a drug dealer. He is often shown smoking it's not said if it's tobacco or weed
  • At a party characters cut up and snort meth. It's brief
  • A character snorts what's implied to be ketamine at a party.
  • Teens vape and juul throughout the show, with little consequences
  • There is a ton of cigarette smoking in one episode.
  • Two teenage girls buy molly and get high.
  • The main character buys pills frequently from a drug dealer. She is seen using a hallucinogenic pill with her friend
  • A character is force fed fentanyl. This scene is incredibly disturbing but not graphic
  • Many scenes depict teens drinking, smoking marijuana, taking pills by mouth or crushing and snorting them. A character overdoses; she is discovered by her family and sent to the hospital, and then rehab. A very young boy sells drugs along with his older brother. An extended scene explains how a character beats an over-the-counter drug test despite still using. A parent guzzles wine. An addicted character works hard to get, and remain, sober.
  • Smoking and drug use is shown in every episode. Sometimes people are shown to be addicted, which tends to lead into violent activities.
  • Alcohol and hardcore drugs play prominent parts in most episodes.
  • Constant smoking and drinking throughout.
  • The series includes frequent visual depictions of drug use including snorting cocaine, marijuana smoking, preparation and injection, misuse of prescription drugs as well as associated drug effects. The series also includes infrequent depictions of intravenous heroin use.
  • A main character abuses drugs and alcohol often.
  • Cigarette, cigar smoking, and social drinking are present in nearly every episode.
  • Kat and BB vape in a lot of episodes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The series look at teenage life and high school life. This is extremely hardcore, violent, and kind of stomach wrenching.
  • This series deals with heavy topics that could be upsetting and triggering to some viewers.
  • A character is forced to do fentanyl by a drug dealer. This results in her almost overdosing, and this is an extremely suspenseful and disturbing scene.
  • In the first episode, there are brief clips of Vincent Van Gough and Sylvia Plath committing suicide by a self inflicted gun shot wound and Plath sticking her head in a gas oven. These clips may be upsetting or triggering to viewers who have struggled with suicidal thoughts.
  • Nate almost beats a guy to death. Blood and sounds are shown.
  • A guy has sex with an underage trans woman. This scene is very graphic and disturbing, and it will trigger some people.
  • Well liked major and minor characters are unexpectedly killed. A lot of fights and brawls occur throughout the course of the series.
  • The series can be suspenseful and intense at times.
  • The show highlights many various hard-hitting topics, such as mental health and illness, PTSD, depression, dementia, dysfunctional families, murder, cancer, rape, sexual harassment, organized crime, domestic violence, discrimination, family estrangement, gambling addiction, infidelity, existential crisis, suicide, and drug and alcohol abuse.
  • The series contains frequent scenes of prescription drug misuse including a depiction of an overdose. The series also contains depictions of self-harm and verbal references to mental health including suicide and depression. Verbal references are made to domestic abuse including a visual depiction of bruising. Thematic content also includes a depiction of an abortion as well as verbal references to bullying.
  • Disturbing thematic material and overtone, and the sudden bursts of violence can be frightening.
  • Younger audiences may find it difficult to understand the themes of the series.
  • The series gets intense several times, quite stressing and pressuring.
  • The main character, Nate Jacobs, has several violent outbursts throughout the series, but they get worse as it progresses.
  • Throughout the run of the series, Maddy's sanity drastically decreases.
  • The whole series is extremely disturbing.
  • Cal Jacobs and Jules Vaughn have sex. She tells him she's 22 but she was actually 17. We later find out that Cal recorded the sexual encounter without her knowledge or consent. Cal is shocked when he finds out Jules was underage and Jules was shocked when she finds out that he's married and is the father of Nate. Viewers may find the sex scene disturbing.
  • 11 year old Nate Jacobs finds his father's homemade porn stash and watches his father having sex with a number of men, women and transsexuals. He is traumatized and he gets disgusted when he sees a man's penis when he grows older.
  • If Euphoria was a movie. It would probably be rated NC-17.
  • The show revolves around drug addiction, drug abuse, underage drinking, violence, domestic violence, abortion, underage pregnancy, rape, statutory rape, sex, nudity.
  • Rue suffers a breakdown and has a screaming match with her mother, sister and girlfriend when she finds out that they flushed her drugs down the toilet.

Sex & Nudity

  • A teen girl's first time having sex is recorded without her permission. The audience is shown the video but there is no nudity.
  • A girl has her nudes leaked. We see her in lingerie and totally nude revealing her breasts. Later she has sex with her boyfriend and reveals her breasts.
  • Cal has sex with Jules (a teenager) after she lies that she is 22. The scene is incredibly graphic and shocking with drooling, thrusting, breast nudity from Jules and full-frontal nudity from Cal.
  • McKay chokes Cassie during sex and she cries.
  • Rue's first time having sex is shown. She is drunk and high while a boy thrusts on top of her before he rolls off her and penis nudity is shown. Explicit.
  • A flashback is shown of Rue being forced to give a boy a blowjob in her young teen years. Disturbing.
  • McKay is held down by a group of boys who rape him as a form of hazing (EXTREMELY GRAPHIC and SHOCKING).
  • After Cal Jacobs was seen having sex with Jules Vaughn. We later find out that he recorded the sexual encounter without her consent or knowledge and it turns out Cal has been sleeping with other men and women and transgender people and recording them for years and that his son found his homemade porn stash. When his son watches his homemade porn, we hear and see thrusting and moaning and nudity.
  • We later find out that Jules has slept with other middle aged men.
  • Jules cheats on Rue with Elliot.

Violence & Gore

  • Nate and Maddy fight and he grabs her neck and slams her against a wall. She has marks on her neck later on.
  • Nate abuses Maddy throught the season, he chokes her and slams her against a truck.
  • Nate beats up a guy pretty bad, the aftermath is shown and he is swollen and very bloody.
  • At a party, Fez brutally attacks Nate. His face is battered multiple times, and his face is covered in blood and strong bruises.
  • In season 2, a character is stabbed in the neck with a knife. Their mouth is covered as they struggle, and we watch them bleed out.
  • In season 2, Fez, Rue and Faye are all told to get naked by a drug dealer or they will get harmed. No violence is shown but Rue almost gets punched when she doesn't lift her top up.
  • A girl threatens her mother with a piece of glass during a fight.
  • Characters are beaten, shot, and attacked in various physical and emotional ways.
  • Girls are violated in many ways, included being leered at, groped, and touched without their permission.
  • Maddy runs on a stage and slaps, pushes, and slams Cassie into a wall for screaming at everyone about a play partly inspired by her life.
  • Leslie slaps Rue and pushes her out of Gia's room for being aggressive towards both of them over her lost opiates.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Rue's driving force is to recreate her first high, and her drug addiction is shown graphically. She is shown stealing her dad's oxycontin, her mom's xanax, and is shown overdosing on heroin.
  • After being clean for weeks Rue relapses and snorts what looks like heroin.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Nate takes a gun and holds it to Maddy's head. Very intense & heartbreaking.
  • In season 2, there's a scene depicting a drug injection. We see the needle go into the skin close-up with vein detail. This scene is lengthy and may be difficult to watch.
  • Cal Jacobs gets beaten up almost to death with a weapon by Ashtray.
  • Nate chokes Maddy, afterwards there are bruises seen on her neck.
  • A drug dealer seems to be involved in human trafficking; there is a scene where it's implied the main character was trafficked whilst being passed out.
  • In the season finale of season 1, Cassie gets an abortion after being impregnated from McKay. This may be very sad, triggering, and difficult to watch especially for people who may have had to get an abortion.
