The epitome of style over substance Warning: Spoilers
Here we have the music video for the song "Rest Your Love" by British group The Vamps. This one was released back in 2015, so it means it has its 5th anniversary soon. The director here is Frank Borin, who has worked on music videos by Bon Jovi, Take That, Backstreet Boys and Cypress Hill only to mention a few, a really prolific music video director since the early 00s and I must say that the outcome is incredibly weak taking taht into account. Boring you could say if you want to take up the play on words involving his name. Do we? Anyway, to me this was pointless bubble gum pop music and if this is among the more/most known boygroups have to offer in the 21st century, then it is pretty easy to udnerstand why the boygroup era seems long gone. The video is a party basically, some people having fun with all kinds of stuff. No need to go into detail, nothing really interesting there, not a kids party, not a grown-ups party. Not a reference to the lyrics either. I can basically say "to the title" to because the song does not offer more lyrics really than these three words plus "on me". If people mistake this for a romantic song, then they really have not grasped the concept of romance one bit. I thought this was quite a mess. So the only area that stays is catchiness. It is catchy? Well, it may not be a failure from this perspective as it is from basically every other, but I would not call it a success either. I thought this was incredibly disappointing. Kinda shocking to see it has over 10 million views on Youtube. But the reason for that is probably only to a minor extent the song and band. The real reason, also why this is not entirely forgotten here on imdb just like so many other music videos are (also because it was far from a hit) is probably because Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is in it, but only very briefly. Blink and she is gone. You see her on the photo here. So yeah GoT fans also don't need to check this one out really. Huge thumbs-down from me, highly not recommended.
