As a running gag, Katya mentions the film Contact (1997) at random, sometimes inappropriate times, much to Trixie's annoyance. In the episode "Space", Katya wears an outfit with the film's theatrical poster as its design, and promised not to mention the movie ever again (a promise she has broken a few times since). They mention an idea about having a viewing party of the film (because Trixie hadn't ever seen it), but at the UNHhhhh DragCon 2019 Trixie stated she had watched it and thought it was great "although I don't think we needed to talk about it as long as we did".
UNHhhh was created after Katya and Trixie starred together in an episode of Fashion Photo Review. Their chemistry was met so positively by fans WOW Presents decided to give Katya and Trixie their own show.
Trixie and Katya's real first names are both Brian.
In episode 67, "The Last Random", Trixie reveals how her nickname "Tracy Martel" came to be: she performed in a pageant and won "in a blackout", and the MC mispronounced her name because they were drunk. During the story, it's also revealed both Trixie and Katya are state title winners. Trixie won "Miss Wisconsin Entertainer of the Year" and Katya won "Miss Gay Massachusetts".
In episode 8, "Drag Names", Trixie and Katya list the name Karen From Finance as an example of a great drag name. Karen From Finance, the actual queen they're referencing, is known in Australia for screening RuPaul's Drag Race in bars when it wasn't yet airing in that country.
