The Narration is Amazing

Personally this is a good series with real footages and facts. That Narration is Amazing and the Narrator's voice is really really good and intense, a very crucial part of any documentary series

Interesting Story..... Nearly Well Told
GB6524 October 2023
This weird country with it's weird family enraptures me. The story being told is really interesting with what appears to be in-depth footage and background. However, on the Disney Channel, there are no subtitles within the programme for the Korean talking heads so you're watching a defector or ex-government officer yabbering away and you haven't got a clue what there on about. The only thing to do is go into the streaming settings and have subtitles on all of the time but this includes when the narrator and others are talking in English. However, now I've got them, it's not detracting too much from this insight into the 'Hermit Nation.' Otherwise at least a 9*.

Almost complete story of the Kims.
WesternOne129 December 2018
The series has a lot of well researched footage and well chosen interviews with actual participants in various historical events. It is an intelligently presented chronicle of the depraved dynasty that has caused such monumental misery on the people of North Korea. Though I have a complaint. That is, that China is only referred to, almost incidentally, a few times throughout. Their participation in the Korean War, for instance, is completely unmentioned. In fact, most of that conflict is ignored. We are told only that Kim "lost" the war, and we're shown a devastated townscape. If he lost, why is there a North Korea now? What about the return to the 38th paralell? Not important, I guess. Emphasis is put on Stalin, and then Russia along the way, but we never are told that Red China was and is, the primary backer of the Kim regime. Mass murdering despots look out for each other. If they weren't supporting the Kims, they would have collapsed long ago. To ignore the China componant, is to be close to misleading.
