Bob Dylan expressed his support for disgraced Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner during a concert in New York City on Thursday night.
Dylan rarely speaks during his shows, but he felt compelled to shout out Wenner towards the end of his gig at the Beacon Theatre. “All right, l’d like to say hello to Jann Wenner, who’s in the house. Jann Wenner, surely everybody’s heard of him,” Dylan said.
“Anyway, he just got booted out of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame – and we don’t think that’s right. We’re trying to get him back in.”
In September, Wann was removed from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors after making derogatory remarks about Black and female artists. Specifically, Wenner came under fire for comments he made to the New York Times in an interview promoting his new book The Masters.

H.E.R. has released a studio “reinterpretation” of Foo Fighters’ “The Glass,” just three weeks after the two artists performed the song together on Saturday Night Live. The new cover — a “solo” studio recording by H.E.R. — is paired with the original Foo Fighters version for a double A-side single, out today.
“The Glass” originally debuted this past June as the fifth single from Foo Fighters’ latest album, But Here We Are. In October, when the band appeared on Saturday Night Live for the ninth time, they performed it with help from H.E.R., who provided vocals and guitar. Now, H.E.R.’s take on the song has arrived, and trades the hard-hitting rock arrangement of the original for a gentler, ethereal soundscape, with reverberating guitars and layered vocal harmonies. Stream it below.
In addition to being available on streaming services, the double A-side single will be offered on a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl,...

Dolly Parton is arguably the most beloved living American. How many people are alive today because Dolly told them to get the Covid vaccine back in early 2021? Of course, she’s a paragon of country music, but her reach goes far beyond Nashville, from the disco pop of her working-woman masterpiece “9 to 5” to the soft-rock bliss of her classic Kenny Rogers duet “Islands in the Stream.” And the crossover love has been reflected back; one of the most popular cover songs of all time is Whitney Houston’s...

Classic rock songs can be deceitful above all things. Today, Elvis Presley’s “There Goes My Everything” sounds like it’s about his divorce from Priscilla Presley. Here’s a look at the star who actually inspired the song and what its writer thought about the “All Shook Up” singer covering his tune.
Elvis Presley’s ‘There Goes My Everything’ was about another celebrity’s divorce
“There Goes My Everything” was written by songwriter Dallas Frazier. Frazier is perhaps most known for writing and performing the original version of The Oak Ridge Boys’ “Elvira.” During a 2017 interview with The Tennessean, he discussed the genesis of the former. “It was born out of a divorce, and fortunately not mine, but a good friend of mine, Ferlin Husky,” he said. “It was the first song I wrote when I came to Nashville, Tennessee.” Husky was a country star who had hits in the 1950s,...

While he was there for so many vital moments in classic rock history, Elvis Presley wasn’t there for Woodstock. He was part of something else that would become very famous. The King of Rock’ n’ Roll might have been a poor fit for the festival.
Elvis Presley was focused on Las Vegas when Woodstock was happening
1969 was a big year for Elvis. He released his beloved songs “Suspicious Minds,” “In the Ghetto,” and “Don’t Cry Daddy.” All three songs reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, proving that the ’68 Comeback Special had made the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll a relevant force in popular music again.
1969 was also the year of the most famous concert festival of all time: The Woodstock Rock Festival. According to the book Elvis: The #1 Hits — The Secret History of the Classics, Elvis was busy preparing for his return to live performance at The...

Rudolph Isley, a founding member of the Grammy-winning Isley Brothers who helped create some of the most memorable songs in American musical history, has died. His brother Ron confirmed the news to Deadline. Rudolph Isley was 84.
In a statement provided to Deadline, Ron Isley said of his brother’s passing, “There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he’s in a better place.”

During that time, they recorded such classics as “Shout,” cowritten by Rudy, which in 1959 became their first single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The record sold over a million copies.
