Quotes
-
Amanda Rollins : [about Nahla] So she's gay and an observant Muslim.
Olivia Benson : Why can't she be both?
Amanda Rollins : Fine. Just don't run for office and lie about who you are.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, this is not just political. Growing up unconventional in a devout family, that's gonna be tough in any religion.
Odafin Tutuola : If we were in Iraq, they'd throw her off a roof.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Phone's registered in the name of Tracy Larson. It's 111 Birkenhoff Street.
Odafin Tutuola : Meow Mix 2.0. You what this is, right?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Pet store?
Odafin Tutuola : Far from it.
-
Olivia Benson : So what are we looking at?
Amanda Rollins : Well, we have motive. We have opportunity. Their social media pages are filled with anti-Nahla Nasar posts.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : None advocating violence. They're straight-A students. They got no records.
Olivia Benson : Okay, is there any other evidence?
Amanda Rollins : Nothing on security cams. No DNA recovered from Nahla's kit.
Olivia Benson : [seeing Fin in the doorway] Where are you in all this?
Odafin Tutuola : I see racism all around.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : How'd you get MetroBuzz to give you the whole tape? Didn't they argue First Amendment?
Peter Stone : They did, but the judge agreed with me. He said it was a staged publicity stunt and not a protected act of journalism.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Put those back, put your hands where I can see 'em, and get out from behind that counter.
Amanda Rollins : Let's go.
Masud Faraj : Why?
Amanda Rollins : [handcuffing him] Why? Because you are being arrested for rape.
Masud Faraj : Nahla accused me?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : What, are you surprised?
Masud Faraj : Not in the least.
[they lead him out]
Masud Faraj : She hates men.
Amanda Rollins : I don't know about that, but I'm pretty sure she hates you.
-
Odafin Tutuola : [to Nahla] Why can't she say whatever she wants?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, she can say whatever she wants that's the First Amendment, but imagine she was saying these kinds of things about African Americans.
Odafin Tutuola : I don't pay attention to ignorant people.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, that's you, Fin. The world doesn't work that way. I mean, words have consequences.
Odafin Tutuola : So it's free speech until you piss somebody off, then it's hate speech.
-
Stephen Kaplan : [to Carisi] Detective, I have no great love for Ms. Nasar, but my son didn't rape her, he's a good boy.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Who left a passed-out woman bleeding on the temple floor. I'm not sure that God would agree with you.
Ari Kaplan : What was she even doing in there? It's like she was deliberately trying to...
Stephen Kaplan : Ari...
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Oh, no, no. He can finish. He's a big boy.
[to Ari]
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Deliberately trying to what?
Ari Kaplan : To provoke us.
-
Amanda Rollins : Are we looking at a sexual assault?
Chris Usmani : Yeah, maybe a hate crime, too. Her hijab was torn off.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : She's Muslim? Attacked in a synagogue?
Amanda Rollins : Do we have an ID?
Chris Usmani : According to the driver's license, it's Nahla Nasar.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : The city councilwoman?
Chris Usmani : Yeah, I guess.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : All right, we got this.
-
Olivia Benson : How is Ms. Nasar?
Amanda Rollins : She's being treated for a concussion, and they're doing a rape kit.
William Dodds : Do we have any idea why she was in that synagogue?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : No, not yet, but her chief of staff just got here. Her name is Aida Galanis.
Olivia Benson : Okay, so find out what she knows.
William Dodds : And ask her not to make any statements to the press. We don't need this to blow up any more than it already has.
-
Carter Anderson : I don't know how I can help you, Detectives. I don't know who raped Nahla Nasar.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : No? Your newsfeed reported that we arrested two Jewish teenagers.
Carter Anderson : So?
Odafin Tutuola : So, it wasn't true. Who told you that?
Carter Anderson : I can't give up my sources.
Odafin Tutuola : Your sources are lying.
Carter Anderson : Look, I get it. You guys are pissed. The NYPD likes to control the narrative.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, especially when somebody's deliberately trying to manipulate that narrative.
Carter Anderson : Not my problem.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You're a news organization. You're supposed to be interested in the truth, or at least pretend that you are.
-
Nahla Nasar : Please don't out me. If you do, my professional life is pretty much over.
Odafin Tutuola : So this whole hijab Muslim thing is just for show?
Nahla Nasar : It didn't start out that way, but then I met Tracy and everything changed. We've been together for a year.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : So this is where you go, huh?
Nahla Nasar : The women here, I trust them. Promise me you'll do the same. If my parents were to ever find out...
Odafin Tutuola : Your sexual orientation is none of our business.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Unless it affects your case.
Nahla Nasar : I swear to you, it doesn't.
-
Aida Galanis : Nahla is passionate about her beliefs. She's exercising her right to criticize Israel. She's not anti-Semitic.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : My understanding is that people got offended by her choice of words.
Amanda Rollins : Okay, well, all that aside, we need to figure out why she was at that synagogue.
Aida Galanis : I don't know.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You're her chief of staff.
Aida Galanis : She can be a very private person. I respect her boundaries.
Amanda Rollins : All right, but has she received any threats lately? Our office is besieged by protesters.
Aida Galanis : We get dozens of hate-spewing calls a day.
Amanda Rollins : Okay, but any specific threats? I mean, maybe sexual violence, for example.
Aida Galanis : No one said they want to rape her.
Amanda Rollins : Listen, we're gonna need phone and email records and any threats made on social media.
Aida Galanis : I hope you need the overtime. Look, I'm sick about what happened to Nahla. The only upside, maybe everyone will realize that she's the true victim here.
