I am so glad ARE touched this subject. It's one of the most important topics in 'Freedom-land' today.
Claim: the United States is the leader of the Free World. Survey says: nope!
Fact: the US has about 5% of the world's population. Also fact: it accounts for 25% of the world's prison population.
We have too many laws in this country, and too many people willing to blindly enforce them. Crimes should require injured parties, not solely the State's fragile ego. Police do not get a "pass" simply because they are following orders. We learned during the Nuremberg Trials that is not an acceptable justification. We have so many outrageous laws here that the average person commits three felonies a day without even knowing it. Legislating morality is not a lawmaker's job, and enforcing that morality is not a cop's job. Victimless crime has ZERO place in a society claiming it's free. That's why I both laugh and weep on July 4th when we celebrate our freedom and independence as a nation. You can go to jail and be fined for something as trivial as collecting rainwater on your own property. Did Al Capone go to jail for his involvement in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre? Nope. He lied to the IRS via tax evasion. The government hates being defied, peacefully or not.
Summary: both politicians AND law enforcement share the blame when it comes to our liberties eroding and being violated. Too many simply don't care.

Adam misleads the audience with various props and anecdotal evidence to make the police look worse than they really are. He only utilizes information that confirms his personal opinions of law enforcement and he ignores the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. If you're looking for a factual and unbiased report on the state of modern policing, you're in the wrong place with Adam Ruins Everything.
