- Josefina confides in Sister Molly, who's shocked to discover Josefina is Tiago's sister. Tiago and Lewis's investigation takes them to the Vega House. Townsend is lectured about his personal life. Tiago confronts Mateo.
- Tiago goes back to Hazlitt's beach house with Molly, while Mateo finds comfort in Rio's arms after killing Reilly. The next day investigation takes the detectives to the Vega house, while Molly learns from Josefina who the latter's brother is.—Gislef
- Magda goes to a club, transforms into Elsa, and sits down with the other women at their tables. She spots one man at another table, who she considers a likely target, and he sees Elsa looking at him and looks back. He goes over and invites her to dance, and Elsa accepts. She tells him that he wants to take her home and hurt her, and he agrees.
At the Pachuco headquarters, Mateo stares at his bloody hands and remember the sounds that Reilly made as Mateo cut his throat. Rio calls him her avenging angel and says that he shouldn't feel regret. When Mateo worries about his family learning what he did, Rio tells him that she and Rico are his family, and every Pachuco's life that he saved by killed Reilly is his family. Mateo calms down and Rio tells him that it's time to stop hiding his pride and power, and his weak and worthless gods. She undresses him, measures him with a tailor's tape, and talks about how they are the Aztecs that sacrificed human hearts to the Sun. Then the Spaniards came and they begat the Children of the Royal Sun. Rio tells Mateo that soon he will have his armor just like his ancestors did, and they kiss and falls onto the bed where they have sex.
Tiago and Molly go to the Hazlit beach house, kiss, and undress. Molly looks at the burn scars on Tiago's chest and then kisses them, and they go to the bed.
Rico comes into the room and finds Mateo and Rio on the bed together after sex. He throws his switchblade into the wall above the bed, then lies on the bed and kisses Mateo while Rio does the same, stroking Rico as well.
After sex, Tiago and Molly talks about how her and her mother set up a revival tent in Florida. It was hurricane season and Adelaide curses the heavens. Some honest local men took them in and took care of them, and says that there are times when she is grateful for her mother, who introduces her to a mighty God and gave her life purpose. Molly asks how Tiago got his scar, and he says that when he was a kid he got it in the fields where he and his father were working, when there was a fire. Tiago saw his father burn to death and tried to save him, but couldn't. Molly realizes that the scar is in the shape of a hand and says that it's a blessing.
The next morning, Lewis is waiting outside Tiago's apartment to pick up his partner. Cops pull up to a diner across the street and start rousting the Mexicans there, and Tiago arrives by the bus. Lewis tells him that the cops are on a vendetta and asks where Tiago has been, Tiago says that he was dealing with personal business and Tiago asks what her name was. When Tiago tells him to drop it, Lewis says that Reilly was murdered and his naked body was tossed in front of the station. The detective figures that it was a declaration of war, and warns that he won't be the last person to ask where Tiago was. Lewis points out that Tiago threatened to kill Reilly in front of Vanderhoff, and Tiago tells his partner that he didn't do it or causes Reilly to be killed. Lewis is convinced and wonders what's next after the murders of the Hazlitts and Reilly. Tiago says that even if was the Mexicans, they do their job. Lewis agrees and says that he has an idea of where they should start doing their job.
At Molly's apartment, Josefina tells Molly what happened with Reilly and the other cops, when she and Mateo were walking home. She describes how Reilly put his hands inside of her, and how she was ashamed. Molly tells her that the pain will go away, and the first step is Josefina telling her story. She says that others have suffered the same way and came away stronger, and tells Josefina that a group of men took her and Adelaide into their truck, and several of the men raped Molly when she was away from Adelaide. Josefina takes Molly's hand, and Molly tells her that God gave her body to only Josefina and no man is strong enough to take God's gift away. Josefina agrees and Molly tells her that if anyone man tries to tamper her, a kick to the groin ends the "conversation".
Josefina chuckles and says that Tiago is a policeman, and describes how he taught her to put a boy in a chokehold if he got too fresh. When Josefina says that her brother is the first Chicago policeman in the LAPD, Molly realizes that Tiago is Josefina's brother.
Later on a balcony overlooking the Temple stage, Adelaide is overseeing the setup for the next show. Randolph tells her that Molly went to the beach house with Tiago and they both stayed all night. Adelaide dismisses her daughter as a foolish little girl and tells Randolph to stop following Molly because they know how it will all end. She dismisses Randolph and tells him that he's her right arm.
Tiago and Lewis approach Sofia, the girl Reilly was keeping as one of his prostitutes, and she says that Reilly was a shit. The woman says that she minding her own business and wasn't with Reilly when he died. Sofia refuses to tell them anything until Lewis threatens to take her in on suspicion. The woman says that she was in bed with Reilly, and four people kicked in the door and one of them cut Reilly's throat. Rico pushes her out of the room so she didn't see who killed Reilly, and confirms Rio was one of the other three intruders. Sofia didn't recognize the other two Pachucos, but she describe the bandage that Tiago saw Mateo had the previous day. Tiago tells Sofia that she can go and tells Lewis that they're done.
Once they're alone, Tiago tells Lewis that he needs to talk to Raul, who might know where Rico is. Lewis points out that Raul tried to kill him at the protest.
Brian is eating at an auto-mat and working on his equations, and Dottie approaches him. She says that Lewis sent her because he couldn't make it, and mentions that he's working on rockets. Brian insists that he does theory, not practical application, and Dottie tells him that his Nazi friends do a lot of practical application. She tells Brian that Lewis wanted her to remind Brian that he will do everything he can to protect him from the Nazis but Brian has to do what he promised: stay away from them. Brian agrees and Dottie tells him to tell her more about the engine formulas. Kurt is at the counter, watching Brian, then walks out and goes to a phone booth. He calls and tells him that Brian is meeting with someone, and Goss tells Kurt to watch Brian and they'll talk later about what to do with him. Once he hangs up, Goss looks at a diorama of the intended motorway through the Heights.
Tiago and Lewis drive to the Vega house and Tiago tells his partner that Raul knows everyone. He suggests that Lewis stay in the car and warns that things with his family could get complicated. Lewis figures that Tiago is holding something back and goes in with his partner.
Raul has heard on the radio 0about Reilly's death, and says that people should die with dignity. He wonders why Tiago is there, and Tiago tells him that he needs to know where Rico is. Lewis leaves the two brothers and as Maria comes, Tiago asks his mother to introduce Lewis to Santa Muerte.
Maria takes Lewis to her shrine to Muerte, and she explains that are different statues of Muerte that one prays to depending on what one wants. Maria says that none of her children believe in Muerte except Raul, and Lewis tells her that she raised an honest man with Tiago. Maria thanks Lewis for being Tiago's partner when no else wanted a Chicano, and Lewis says that Tiago thanks him every day by being a stand-up cop. Tiago comes to get Lewis, and Maria gives Lewis a small token of Muerte and tells him that Muerte will look after him. He takes it, figuring that it can't help, and Maria asks him to take care of Tiago.
In his office, Townsend tries on ties and tells Alex that what bothers him about Berk is her condescension toward him. She wonders why he's preoccupied with clothing, and Townsend tells her that life isn't all about work and stress. Townsend talks about life revealing something new to be explored, and Alex points out that she's always been there for him. Townsend asks her what she knows about Kurt, and Alex tells him that he has needs like everyone else. She tells him not to ask anyone about Kurt or any boy, and asks Townsend what Beck or Townsend's father would think of the information.
In the car, Tiago looks at the token of Muerte in black that Maria gave to Lewis, and that Lewis has put on the dashboard. They wait for a woman, Bernadette Romero, and her young daughter Esperanza, and when she arrives the detectives get out and approach her. Lewis says that need to track down Rico and the Pachucos, and they've heard that Bernadette is close to Rico. Bernadette tells them to talk to Rico's mother, and Tiago angrily tells her that they have a dead cop and a city on the verge of exploding. Esperanza breaks into tears at Tiago's tone, and Tiago asks Bernadette if Esperanza knows that her mother is living in the U.S. illegally. He threatens to separate Bernadette from Esperanza and have Bernadette deported unless she tells them what they want to know. Lewis tells Tiago to calm down, but Tiago ignores him and Lewis takes a softer approach with Bernadette.
Once they get Rico's address, Tiago and Lewis park outside of his apartment. While they wait for Rico to come home, Lewis talks about actor Fredric March and how he played Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Ge points out that Tiago is unstable and asks what Raul told him, but Tiago insists that it's family and private. His partner tells him that they do it by the book or hand the case over to a better team, and Tiago says that there is no better team.
At the Craft house, Peter is playing the board game Sorry with his family. Peter looks nervously at his wife and Trevor asks him about cheating. The phone rings and Peter answers it despite Linda telling him to let it go. It's Elsa, who says that he has to come to her house and something happened there, and she doesn't know what to do. Once she hangs up, Peter goes back to his family and claims that there's a medical emergency at the hospital. Linda angrily says that it was too good to last and lights a cigarette, and Peter leaves.
That night, Peter goes to Elsa's home and finds her in the living room, crying. Her hands are covered in blood, and the man from the club is lying on the kitchen floor, his throat cut. Elsa tells Peter that she couldn't be raped one more time or let her husband hurt her one more time. Peter gets the shower curtain from the bathroom to wrap the man's corpse up in it.
Townsend sits in his manor, drinking. He puts on a record and dances by himself. The doorbell rings, and Townsends finds Kurt at his doorstep. Kurt has Chinese takeout and comes in, and Townsend follows him, smiling.
Peter buries the man's body in a forest and Elsa accompanies him there. Once Peter is done, they have sex on the shallow grave.
A Mexican boy rides his bike past the car Tiago and Lewis are parked in, and Tiago realizes that the boy is a lookout. The boy runs into the apartment, and Tiago and Lewis run in after him. Tiago grabs the boy as he runs up the stairs, and they struggle. Lewis arrives as the boy run away, and Tiago tells Lewis to let the boy go.
The detectives go to Rico's apartment and in the hallway, and Lewis tells Tiago not to go in shooting. Tiago kicks the door down, gun drawn, and finds Rico, Rio, and Mateo there playing cards. Mateo backs away from his brother, and Rico tackles Tiago. Rio flips the table over into Lewis and runs out with Rico, and Mateo goes out a window.
Lewis chases after Rio and Rico, and Rio slams an exit door shut from the other side, leaving Rico to face Lewis.
Tiago chases Mateo down the fire escape, and Mateo slams a door shut between him and his brother. He gets to the alley below and joins Rico who is still running, and Tiago drops to the alley from the fire escape and runs after Mateo. Dodging traffic, Mateo runs down the street with Tiago in pursuit, and the detective finally corners his brother in an alleyway. Tiago draws his gun and Mateo says that his brother should just shoot him. The detective asks if he killed Reilly, and Mateo admits that he did and he'd do it again.
As police sirens approach, Tiago lowers his gun and tells Mateo to run. Mateo runs past him.
