- Nearly a year after Everett Lynch nearly killed Agent Rossi, the BAU team sets out on an epic hunt to capture Lynch. Following an explosive face-to-face encounter with Everett Lynch, a.k.a. "The Chameleon," Dr. Reid suffers from a brain injury and, while experiencing hallucinations, is visited by ghosts from his past. Also, the BAU makes a shocking discovery about Lynch that affects Rossi personally, and the entire BAU team comes together to celebrate the sad departure of a member of a team to pastures new.—Benicia Livorsi
- Despite six agents killed on the scene which affects Prentiss' career most profoundly, the BAU breathes a collective sigh of relief on the closure of the Everett Lynch case, with Rossi thus far only telling Krystall that he is finally retiring. That relief is short lived as when the final body count and identification after the explosion comes in the day after the fact, Lynch does not number into the equation meaning that he was able to escape and had planned the explosion with his escape mapped out. With Roberta, Grace and Lynch's biological father all gone, the team believes that he will be turning his sights on targets literally and proverbially closer to home for them. Missing this debrief is Reid who the others believe has just slept in, while in reality he has passed out at home having suffered a serious, potentially fatal brain injury from the explosion. In his unconscious state, Reid visits with people from his past, some who have passed themselves, they who offer him his possible directions, his choice on whether he wants to live or die. After all is said and done, the course of the Lynch case alters what was supposed to be Rossi's retirement party into an "until we meet again" farewell gathering for another team member.—Huggo
