Rabbi says Satchel's father was killed by the Germans on Armistice Day. That would have been the end of World War I, November 11, 1918, or the holiday celebrated on its anniversary. The end of hostilities with Germany in World War II was in May 1945 and was referred to as V-E (Victory in Europe) Day in the United States.
The only episode worth watching in the whole season
As a matter of fact I find this season quite disappointing. It's not that Fargo we used to like. Lack of basic features makes the 4th season a godfather-like criminal drama with lost plot lines, useless characters and practically no comedy.
As for Episode 9 it is really an outstanding work of art. And ironically it doesn't need to be watched in the episodes order. You could watch it as a separate complete movie. It has the three classical unities as well as the three-act structure. And it is shot just perfectly.
