• [Gothel arrives at the bridge leading across the stream to her cottage, holding a crying infant Rapunzel. She turns to flee, but sees the castle guards coming towards her. She flees behind a pile of rocks] 

  Guard : The princess!

  [the guards arrive at the bridge to the house and dismount] 

  Captain of the Guard : She went this way.

  [the guards head to Gothel's cottage. Little Cassandra hears the guards coming and climbs onto the window sill. The present Cassandra rushes to the window as well. The guards burst in] 

  Captain of the Guard : Where is she? Where's the princess?

  [the four year old Cassandra sees her mother standing on the other side of the bridge, holding the baby. She gets down from the window sill and runs to the doorway] 

  Little Cassandra : Mother?

  [Two guards run to the bridge, but Gothel gets out a sword and slices the bridge. Little Cassandra drops the music box in shock. Gothel rides away] 

  Little Cassandra : Mama?

  [the Captain of the Guard gets on his knees before little Cassandra, and puts his helmet on her head] 

  Captain of the Guard : No one's going to harm you, little one. You're safe with me.

  [Little Cassandra starts crying. The Captain of the Guard gently carries her away] 

  Little Cassandra : I want my mama!
