Perfect cross over
Foxtrot-Alpha77710 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you have not seen Psychoville then you maybe confused regarding the characters, if you have seen it and liked it as I did this is the perfect crossover. Lacks a bit of story but that can be forgiven.

Hole In The Wall Gang

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. Spoilers on the review, as the boys did their best to keep the bulk of this episode under wraps.

A young couple, Beattie (Jenna Coleman) and Sam (Kadiff Kirwan) are just moving into a flat that they have picked for around half of its market value, because a murder took place in it. With Sam working nights, Beattie starts to experience unexplained phenomenon around the flat, but finds Sam sceptical about it on his return. Then the next night though, the flats former owner returns and begins to tell her a story.

Unfortunately, I had it spoiled for me a little before I saw the episode, but this episode serves as a mini-sequel to Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton's previous series "Psychoville". With the characters of David and his mum Maureen returning, they are then joined by Sarah Solemani returning as Emily, David Bamber as Robin and then the best little cameo from Reece again, as Mr. Jelly. It's great to see them again, and they do have some of the best lines and interactions. "Crank that" joins the returning "Superman" as a mother/son dance routine that will live long in the memory. This episode had much more horror elements, than the previous weeks, both with Maureen's corpse in the bathtube and the poltergeist elements. And it says something about the tone of previous episodes that I thought they might actually boil the baby at one point.

Jenna Coleman and Kadiff Kirwan are both capable, but really they're misdirects to hide the returning characters. Kirwan is probably in the show for less than two minutes and Coleman spends the majority listening to David's story - though she does participate in a neat twist at the end.

Just another brilliant episode of a brilliant series.

Mother!

Not having seen Psychoville, and only learning about the connection after watching this episode, I still found this episode compelling, with black humor going beyond the extremes that would make the Inside Number Niners grimace. The ending was definitely unexpected for sure.

Genius!
Sleepin_Dragon10 February 2020
I'm speechless!!!

That is how to deliver a twist.

When this started, and Jenna Coleman appeared i expected a very good well crafted scare story, we had a few scares, and then came the surprise visitor.

I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but fans of Inside no.9 will likely be fans of previous works, everything this pair touch turns to gold.

This made me smile and laugh from start to finish, absolutely brilliant. It delivered twists better than ever before.

Brilliant! 10/10

Warning: Spoilers
Omg David showing up has to be one of the biggest surprises in Inside NO9 history.

Incredible dance moves. Story line and scares.

The baby scene terrified me.

One of my favourite episodes.

I'd love to see more cross oversz.

This was a very good episode. The story within a story works well here as does the time-shift. The cast play to their strengths and the reference points are fun. A very welcome episode.

Death Be Proud

Warning: Spoilers
Not a terrible episode, but other people singing and dancing is not funny for viewers and yet shows continue to do it. They also kind of wasted Jenna Coleman with a fairly boring role.

It's a crossover, the sequel AND the ghost story in one. This is pure genius. (especially for Psychoville fans)

Warning: Spoilers
I can't speak for people who haven't watched psychoville, but it didn't really enjoy this episode. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was a crossover episode, especially since I had only just finished watching psychoville, but then it went downhill. Not only did it not deliver the key things I enjoy in a no.9 episode, but I also hate what it did with the pre-established characters. This is just my opinion, I was pleasantly surprised to see hope many people loved it. I wish I did too!

Strange but fantastic

An odd mix of physchoville characters, respected actors and the best comedy I've seen since this show started. Reece and Steve were incredible as always, playing some brilliant characters. Jenna Coleman placed a key role, and as always I did not see the twist coming. 9/10

Best episode ever
awjsouth18 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of psychoville in particular the characters mother and son Maureen and David I was so thrilled that we got to see these characters again in a crisis over story.

Steve and Reece are two of the most successful and very imaginative writers and deserve so much praise for what they've achieved. Inside No9 is currently my top tv show and long may it continue. Although this episode is now my all time number one, A quiet Night in from series 1 is still up there with the best.

Perhaps we could have a league of gentlemen crossover next into inside no9

What the hell have I just watched?
nicked210123 February 2020
Inside No 9 is a terrific series, with so many episodes that are well crafted, funny, poignant and sometimes sad. This one, however, is none of those things.

It has an interesting premise - young couple move into a flat previously owned by a killer. Then it all gets a bit ridiculous. The story falls apart, and it has a really daft twist that is not in keeping with the rest of the story in any way, shape or form.

Many episodes of this great anthology series demand repeat viewing. This one doesn't even demand a first viewing.

A fine addition to Inside No. 9...
maxglen12 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
But a great addition to Psychoville! I watched it with someone who had never seen Psychoville and they still enjoyed it but I loved it! It was everything I wanted and more, I had a huge smile on my face the whole time and we even got a cameo from my favourite character. If you haven't seen the source material this probably isn't anything special but if you know your stuff, you'll have a blast.

Best one in a couple years.
13Funbags6 March 2020
The last season or so of this show wasn't as good as the first two but this one really lived up to the original episodes. It was also really cool that they brought in characters from Psychoville. Hope the rest of the season is this good.

I loved David and Maureen from prschosville but this was sad and sick
lopezpatricia-0613920 February 2020
The funniest part of psychoville was David and Maureen I wet myself with laughter. So why did this comeback make me feel sad and disgusted. I think the reason is that this was just pittiful and heart wrenching which I can enjoy but not when tuning into a comedy
