Oscar-nominated filmmaker Luca Guadagnino knows how to make a goddamn movie. That was clear to fans of his earlier works, like the sumptuous "I Am Love," more than a decade ago. It was clear to most other people about five years ago when the bold one-two punch of "Call Me By Your Name" and "Suspiria" made moviegoers sit up and pay attention. And it's more clear than ever now, with the release of the director's latest (and reportedly biggest-budgeted) effort, the endlessly thrilling Zendaya-led sports drama "Challengers." Film after film, Guadagnino manages to tap into some hidden corners of our hearts by telling stories that are evocative and colorful, musical and sensual, messy and true.
Though Guadagnino has gained more attention in recent years, the filmmaker has actually been working since the '90s and has by now made eight narrative (or meta-narrative) features, a TV show, and several documentaries and shorts.

Very eccentric, but that’s the best part about him,” Scorsese said. “It was really cool because I got to experience another filmmaker. You know what I mean? I grew up being on my dad’s film sets and seeing his directing style and just like literally just like living in that world.”

With just a few weeks to go until Luca Guadagnino’s delayed feature Challengers finally hits screens, he’s looking to reteam with his star Josh O’Connor on a new project. Guadagnino, who already has his next feature in the can with the Daniel Craig-led adaptation Queer, seems to line up no shortage of potential projects, but according to reports, this one will be fast-tracked quickly.
Variety and La Repubblica report O’Connor will lead the queer romance Separate Rooms, an adaptation of Pier Vittorio Tondelli’s 1989 novel following an Italian writer who is mourning the loss of his boyfriend and begins a relationship with a German musician. Tondelli died at the age of 36 from AIDS-related causes. Scripted by Francesca Manieri (We Are Who We Are), it would mark another Italian production for O’Connor following Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera, which finally opens in the U.S. this week.

Exclusive: It was on the set of Sky and HBO’s We Are Who We Are that Lorenzo Mieli asked Francesca Manieri, a screenwriter known for crafting stories about female empowerment, to pen a TV series about Rocco Siffredi, the infamous hardcore porn star. Initially, she could barely believe it. “I laughed,” she recalls. “I was sure he was joking.”
Only he wasn’t, and after a week of deliberation, she said yes, having realized it would give her the chance to explore “the core of contemporary masculinity.”
Manieri — known for films such as Rose Island, Italian Race, The First King and The Miracle and as co-writer of We Are Who We Are — went away and drew up her plan for a series that would allow her to “turn the tables” on the narratives men have dictated to women for, well, probably ever: a series about what porn represents and how modern masculinity is constructed.

Porn icon Rocco Siffredi claims that after making roughly 1,400 hardcore films — with titles like “The Ass Collector” and “Rocco’s Perfect Slaves” — over the past four decades, he has finally found “the peace of his senses.”
“I could crack a bad joke and say I can’t get it up anymore,” says Siffredi, 59, speaking on a video call from the Budapest office of his Rocco Siffredi Production company, which houses the Siffredi Hard Academy, touted as the world’s first “university of porn.”
“But that’s not the case. Quite the contrary,” the hardworking “Italian Stallion” hastens to add. I’ve asked Siffredi about being — or having notoriously been — a sex addict. And the many times he’s announced his retirement as a porn performer, only to make another comeback.

Netflix on Tuesday unveiled four new Italian originals – two feature films and two series – that confirm its continued investment in Italy as local subscribers grow. The new projects also bolster the fact that the bulk of the streamer’s Italian productions are not high end and have a primarily local focus.
During a Rome presentation Eleonora Andreatta – affectionately known as Tinny – who is Netflix’s VP of Italian originals, said that Netflix remains “committed to our investment in Italy and Italian stories with conviction, continuing our long-term commitment to the country and its creative community.”
Andreatta, who owing to having caught Covid-19 was speaking remotely to the packed room, described Netflix’s lineup as being characterised by “Authentic stories, able to speak to the present [and] about the present and [which can] emotionally touch the audience on issues closest to the lives they live.”

The Italian film and television industry could step into the gap left by the dual Hollywood strikes, leading industry executives said at a panel, organized in collaboration with the Audiovisivo Italiae, at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday.
“If supply decreases with Hollywood on strike, we need to be ready with our products for the international market as well,” said Francesco Rutelli, president of the Italian national audiovisual association Anica, speaking at a panel moderated by THR Roma editor-in-chief Concita De Gregorio.
“We need to interpret market changes in real-time. And we need the government to issue certain rules with respect to these changes. It’s not a matter of changing the system’s regulations, but of adjusting them quickly to the changed and rapid changes taking place.”

Somebody give Chloë Sevigny what she wants: glamour!
“God, how many more frumpy mommies can I play?” says the actress (and real-life mother), whose recent run includes shedding her fashionista ways in such projects as Bones and All, The Girl From Plainville, We Are Who We Are and The Act. “Give me some glamour, for crying out loud. What am I in this business for?”
She gets some glitz in her next role, playing C.Z. Guest in the next installment of Ryan Murphy’s Feud, and describes the socialite as the precursor to Martha Stewart. “This is about a bygone era of glamour.”
The former “It” girl — who recently spoke to THR about archiving her collection of clothes worn on red carpets with The Wardrobe clothing preservation service — also weighed in on what it takes to harness the buzz: “There’s a reason why Julia Fox is having a moment or Paloma Elsesser.

Francesca Scorsese was cut from Luca Guadagnino’s film Bones and All, the director has revealed.
The recently released horror-romance stars Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell in a film adaptation of Camille De Angelis’s 2015 novel.
Bones and All was also supposed to feature Francesca Scorsese, daughter of Martin Scorsese, before her role as Harmony was cut.
Scorsese, 23, addressed her absence from the film, sharing a post on her Instagram story: “Rip Harmony lol.”
It appears there are no hard feelings, however, with Scorsese writing: “For those asking, Harmony is no longer in the film, she had fun though!!”
The actor accompanied her post with what appears to be stills from her deleted scenes, in which she is seen in character in a car with Russell and Chalamet.
Scorsese previously worked with Guadagnino on the 2020 HBO series We Are Who We Are.
Bones and All has received favourable reviews from critics and viewers.

Luca Guadagnino’s latest cinematic release, “Bones and All,” is a grisly return to the horror genre for the director, whose last hair-raising feature was 2018’s “Suspiria.” But in order to bring the film’s sickening cannibal scenes to life, Guadagnino heavily relied upon the talents of his long-time make-up department head and close friend Fernanda Perez.
“I always brought baby bottles of some mouth blood,” Perez told Variety, describing how fake blood was used in each of the scenes. “It was ridiculous because I was always following the actors with this baby bottle. But for Mrs. Harmon’s scene and for the end of the movie, we used a mix of syrups and brownies [for fake blood].”
Perez estimates she went through well over 10 liters of fake blood during production.
But an unforeseen complication soon arose when the syrupy mixture would crust onto the actors’ skin after prolonged contact. To reactivate the liquid,...

In "Bones and All," Taylor Russell plays Maren Yearly, a teen girl going through all the irresistible urges of puberty: lust, love, and, oh, cannibalism. After an incident with a fellow classmate, Maren is forced to go on the run, and in her travels across the U.S., she runs into and falls in love with fellow cannibal, Lee (Timothée Chalamet).
"Bones and All," Luca Guadagnino's gory romance film based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis, is a swooningly romantic, insatiably bloody movie about life on the fringes. It's a movie that's tough to stomach but easy to love, a juggling act that Russell perfects as the lead character at the center of the film.

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons marks a couple of firsts, although they’ve had several print team-ups and their own comic, it’s the first on-screen pairing of the sons of DC’s biggest superheroes. It’s also the first of DC’s animated films to be completely done by computer, using the same styling as Marvel’s “What If” series.
It opens with a pre-credits recap of how Superman came to Earth, only with one small addition, which may seem puzzling, but will be explained later in the film. That’s followed by what is basically another origin story, that of Superboy, aka Jonathan Kent the son of Superman, and Lois Lane.

Chloë Sevigny Immediately Asked Where the Stunt Coordinators Were for Her Gory ‘Bones and All’ Scene
Chloë Sevigny was ready to go all out for Luca Guadagnino.
The iconic actress, who previously collaborated with director Guadagnino for HBO series “We Are Who We Are,” told IndieWire at the New York Film Festival premiere of “Bones and All” that she was ravenous to work with the Italian auteur again — even if for a cannibal movie with no lines.
“There was already a built-in trust after going through shooting ‘We Are Who We Are,'” Sevigny said of working with the “Call Me By Your Name” helmer. “I was in Italy, I was in my first trimester pregnant, and was so surprised by how the series turned out. I was so in love with it, I also thought it was one of the best things made for television in the past 10 years.”
Sevigny added, “So Luca called and said, ‘I have a small but pivotal role for you in my new film.

Netflix’s shake-up of its European operations — which saw the Sept. 29 exit of International Film VP David Kosse, a new role for Spanish executive Teresa Moneo and a new regionalized hub for all content across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea) run by Larry Tanz — points to a broader strategic shift at the streaming giant toward faster-growing international markets to make up for domestic subscriber losses.
In the second quarter of this year, according to figures from UK-based data research group Ampere Analysis, Netflix ordered 97 new original first-run TV series or movies from outside the US, compared to 63 US commissions over the same period. International commissions at Netflix have outpaced domestic orders for seven straight quarters and show no signs of slowing down. Despite fierce competition from the likes of Disney+ and HBO Max, in international markets Netflix retains a significant first-mover...

Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is continuing his streak of being one of the most masterful storytellers in the game with the heartwrenching coming-of-age horror romance, "Bones and All." The new film reunites Guadagnino with his "Call Me By Your Name" star Timothée Chalamet, who stars alongside Taylor Russell, in this harrowing tale of a pair of star-crossed lovers forced to live on the margins of society due to their shared cannibalistic tendencies. Based on Camille DeAngelis' novel of the same name, this romantic tale is also one of forbidden passion, as the two youngsters feel their uncontrollable desires to devour human flesh most powerfully when around the object of their affection. Not exactly an ideal situation for a budding couple.
Maren (Russell) and Lee (Chalamet) are able to find solace in one another over their shared condition, but as they fall deeper and deeper in love, the circumstances become more...

The life of global porn icon Rocco Siffredi is the subject of a new Netflix original series titled ‘Supersex’, which has started shooting in Rome.
The seven-episode drama is freely inspired by the real life of Siffredi, who has more than 1,500 hardcore films to his name. But, in an interesting career twist, Siffredi has also shot two arthouse pics, Catherine Breillat’s ‘Romance’ and ‘Anatomy of Hell’. His Budapest-based Rocco Siffredi Prods. is a porn industry powerhouse.
Siffredi was also the subject of the documentary ‘Rocco’, directed by French duo Thierry Demaiziere and Alban Teurlai, which screened at the 2016 Venice Film Festival.
At the centre of ‘Supersex’, which is being produced by The Apartment, a Fremantle company and Groenlandia, which is part of the Banijay group, are unknown aspects of the Italian porn star, who is being played by Italian A-lister Alessandro Borghi (‘The Eight Mountains’).

First things first: Yes, Luca Guadagnino still wants to make a sequel to “Call Me By Your Name” with Timothée Chalamet as the soul-searching Elio, but he wouldn’t put it in those terms. “A sequel is an American concept,” the filmmaker said during an interview at the Telluride Film Festival. “It’s more like the chronicles of Elio, the chronicles of this young boy becoming a man. It is something I want to do.”
For now, though, Guadagnino has already satiated his desire to collaborate with the actor who became a star as a result of that 2017 romance. With “Bones and All,” Guadagnino and screenwriter David Kajganich have transformed Camille DeAngelis’ 2015 cannibal into a gothic plunge into the ’80s-era midwest. Equal parts “Badlands” and “Bonnie and Clyde,” the movie is a sensitive look at the kind of marginalized characters who populate all of Guadagnino’s films.

The sacredness of a relationship between parents and children can't be overstated.
This sacredness reinforces the boundaries that exist or ought to exist within the confines of the relationship.
But sometimes, the limits are crossed. And when this happens, these relationships become corrupt, perverted, manipulative, and downright wrong such that they end up being weird.
Many mother-son relationships on TV are okay. But there comes that one duo that makes you think, "that's weird."
We have compiled ten of the most bizarre mother-son relations that had us like, "what the actual f***k?"
10. Howard and Mrs. Wolowitz in The Big Bang Theory.
Let's start easy because some of what is to come is jaw-dropping. When someone thinks of Howard, what comes into their mind is something like -- an astronaut. Or a little scared astronaut.
Howard, however, had a mommy problem. While most moms try to build up their kids,...

It might seem strange, but Luca Guadagnino’s intimate account of first love between two cannibal drifters in 1980s Middle America, Bones and All, has some of the same softness, sensitivity and gentle naturalism he brought to his HBO series about teen slackers on a Northern Italian military base, We Are Who We Are. Even when they’re feasting on human flesh, walking away wearing bibs of blood and gristle, the film depicts its protagonists — played with a touching, guarded fragility by Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet — not as monsters but as rootless outsiders hungering to connect and feed an appetite they can’t control.
Adapted by Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash and Suspiria writer David Kajganich from the 2015 YA coming-of-age novel by Camille DeAngelis, this is both a horror movie and a humanistic story of disenfranchised youth looking to figure out who and what they are,...

The story of boy-meets-girl is one that has been told in film throughout its lengthy history. Sometimes, these stories end in a happily ever after, while others end in tragedy. However, it's somewhat uncommon in the grand scheme of cinema that a love story can always have a prevailing sense of tragedy, even in the couple's happiest moments.
"Bones & All," the latest film by acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino, is one such love story. Starring "Waves" breakout Taylor Russell and Guadagnino collaborator Timothée Chalamet, this love story is about to have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival. However, we won't be waiting too long for it to be released to the public. Here is what you need to know about this buzzy romance with a uniquely tragic twist.

Luca Guadagnino has only just moved into the historic house in Piedmont, Italy that he bought some four years ago. What he hoped would be a pain-free renovation project was compounded by issues with the foundation that prolonged the work. And while he’s satisfied with the fit and finish, all meticulously directed by him (Guadagnino has his own interior design firm), it is still bare of furniture, there’s no internet, and cellphone service is only possible from one spot on the terrace… in a favorable wind. Upstairs, a stunning home theater has been fully kitted-out save for the Hdmi cables required to pass a picture through the projector, and most of his DVDs and Blu-rays have yet to be unpacked, but he has wasted no time in setting up an editing suite in which he is making much swifter progress on Challengers, a film starring Zendaya and Josh O’Connor...
