In a 2020 interview with Louis Holder, Max Albrecht spoke of his desire to expand the film into a series: "The cast and crew really really had a lot of fun making Jester and the actors really enjoyed their characters. The thing is, this competition that awarded funding, it didn't give us a lot of time. We made this film, about 20 minutes or so of it, inside of 3 months. Effectively, it was more like 2 months, with this budget of £1000 specifically towards props, location and equipment. So, I like to think that with a short film, you're always just providing a bit of a window into a bigger world, into a bigger story. I think that's the thing about short films, you can always kind of develop the ideas more. 'Who's that person in the background, who's that person?', all the rest of it. I was just really fortunate because the actors all loved their characters and wanted the chance to kind of bring them out again. They were coming up with all of these fan theories about how the characters were connected. My sister writes a lot of stuff online and she loves the alternative universe takes on various franchises and things and I went, 'Solid! I'll make it canon!' So I basically made a lot of fan theories canon and it's expanded into this big universe."
