Spiderhead (2022)
Most of the "average" ratings are based on preconceived notions, too bad.
Sometimes a soundtrack can carry a movie, not that Spiderhead (8/10) needed it, but the soundtrack is damn good. Not sure what is up with the the low ratings on IMDB. Any sort of mind altering, forced thinking, or cerebral movie tends to have a flood of average to low ratings early on only to get higher ratings over time.
I think i a lot of this also has to do with typecasting. Helmsworth plays a pretty damn evil guy here and not some sort of perfect hero.
Mayor Grom. Chumnoy Doktor (2021)
A very fun Russian take on hero cop versus arch villain.
Major Grom: Plague Doctor( (8/10) is a very Russian take on the summer blockbuster hero cop versus super villain genre. While it does borrow heavily from Western cinema it is more of an homage than a copy. Enjoy this romp with your whole family.
Infinite (2021)
So much wasted potential.
Infinite (6/10) is a watchable action movie that could have been so much more. If the movie had tighter editing and much more back story on the villain and less pointless fights they could have built a franchise.
Alien Armageddon (2011)
The worst film ever actually released to a live human audience.
My quest for finding the worst film someone could possibly make and then have the gall to subject others to is done. Because my friends, "ALIEN Armageddon" easily destroys all challengers to this magnificent throne, almost in the garish opening credits alone!
You, you are sitting there thinking this can't be worse than that time uncle Berny tried to make a film in the old woodshed before they tore it down. You, you are thinking that there is always a bright spot, a silver lining to help you escape the refuse, but alas there is none.
"ALIEN Armageddon" comes at you with gusto, unaware of how tawdry and trite the effects are. This movie takes itself completely seriously, as do all the actors (bless their souls) and presents you with a terrible main plot line and just throws things at it. Within some of the scenes it is possible to wonder, "was this shot even for this movie in the first place?" The cuts between the "scenic" desert and prison (hgfasghhj) are just... there are no words. I... I can't even continue.
They not only made this movie. But felt confident enough to subject others to it. I don't understand this world anymore.
Alter Egos (2012)
Perfect for the right audience.
Alter Egos comes at you with the full understanding that you are a comic shop/scifi type person from the very start. For the niche who this film was presumably made for, it has everything and the kitchen sink. However, for others who aren't in the same social spaces most of the movie may fall flat or seem tedious or just out-right silly.
The actors/staff/crew did amazing jobs considering the very low budget of this film.
TLDR; In-joke movie only appeals to very specific fans.
... and of course everything is left open-ended so perhaps we shall receive a sequel!
Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010)
This movie could be used for torture.
When this film started there was a glimmer of hope this could truly be terribad. Unfortunately...
I wanted this to be bad. It was. I wanted it to be so bad that it was good. But no, it goes well beyond that... the scenes and forced face camera shots are so long and drawn out that you can't even mock it properly. Whatever semblance of a plot there is, is what you make up in your own head to give this time spent some meaning.
I imagine this is the kinda film you put on for people laying on your floor who are very high.
Or for people that you wish to inflict some torturous pain because they have wronged you and your family.
