That's My Boy (2012)
Couldn't stop laughing
12 July 2022
As somebody near Sandlers age, I can relate to so many things in this funny movie. The music (guess hot for teacher doesn't mesh with today's society) to all the cameos from the SNL crew. Even James Caan (rest his soul) is hilarious in his little view time. And I agree with other reviewers - Relax for crying out loud. This isn't some sweet little Rom-Com. Its meant to be and old school raunchy comedy like from the 80's. So many newer comedies I laugh very little. I laughed like crazy throughout this. Hell even Rex Ryan hits it out of the park...

I thought this was great back in high school and its still the best cartoon movie I ever viewed. Its a adult movie for sure. Almost doesn't feel like your watching a cartoon themed movie with all the adult situations that are handled with this. I almost laugh at the soundtrack. Its like the creators said f it. Instead of trying to make a soundtrack of what we think the future of music is, they just added music from that period of the early 80's. And it works.

Another great Documentary series
10 June 2021
HBO sure knows how to make a great series, especially dealing with war. Band of Brothers, The Pacific, now Generation Kill. You really feel like your with these guys on the way to Baghdad. Acting was great across the board. I'll have to see if they somehow shot this on location, because it looks so real..

2 thumbs up
28 June 2017
My first thought a few months ago when I read about a sequel was like not again. Not another movie I love having to go the sequel route just for money. Than I read some early reviews about the plot about allot of flashbacks in this movie and that really put this movie on the not so urgent list to view this. Well I couldn't have be more wrong. It was a great movie. Saw some reviewers say that they loved this movie as a stand alone movie. I won't go there. Seeing the original adds to this movie. Especially music wise with a completely new soundtrack but with cool new versions of songs from the original. Thought that was brilliant. All the acting is top notch. I guess the performance that stands out for me is Begbie. I thought he was just a jerk off criminal in the original. Lets just say, prison hasn't soften this guy for sure. Not in a long shot. He's a total monster now. Guess losing that money in the 1st movie and also getting arrested has put him on a mission. And you will know what I mean when you watch this. Won't get into more details of this. Just have to says, if you watched the original and liked it, you should really get into this also. If you never saw the original, this might be a little rough of a movie to view. Either way, just remember - Choose Life.....

Dinner Rush (2000)
Great underground movie.
9 March 2015
I see this came out in 2000. I have no recollection of this being in the theater. Just happen to catch in on cable on some crazy channel and I loved it. Great acting from a list of great actors. Really no complaints about anything besides a minor one brought up in one of the forums about the opening credits and the red lettering being used. Movie just rushes along, with its various subplots. I really was surprised by Corbetts character. That came out of nowhere. Though its mainly a drama, I found myself laughing at allot of scenes. Like Fitzgeralds constant rich drunken rants. Funny stuff. Though at times i wanted to strangle Duncan for his stupid gambling problem, it all works out well. I saw the location of this restaurant on here. I must of walked by it a 100 times without any thought back in the day. I'll have to check it out the next time i'm in lower Manhattan.

Pretty bad movie.
25 January 2014
Remember this getting somewhat good reviews last summer. So when it came on cable last night, I gave it a chance. Well it's pretty bad movie. Barely funny at all, I didn't laugh till about an hour into the movie. Its like these Hollywood guys said, wtf, lets make a stupid horror movie and lets see what fools buy it. Well judging by some of the reviews, people did. Seriously, some people said it was like the funniest movie ever? Yeah right, Doesn't hold a candle to Caddyshack, Animal House, My cousin Vinny, Something about Mary or Fast Times a Ridgemont High. I would of gave this trash a 1, but some of the cgi special affects were cool. But that's pushing it... And yeah, I guess gouging someones eyes out still allows you to go to heaven under these guidelines set in this movie.

Classic
29 November 2013
One of the all time greatest movies. Haven't viewed this in awhile till last night. I totally forgot how great this movie is. The musical score ranks up with the all time greats. I still find myself singing allot of these tunes this morning. Movie was shot very well. Classic views of England and Germany. None of that fake cgi you get would more modern movies. Surprised that this isn't at least in the top 250 IMDb movies. But I guess today people have a very short attention span and are into all that Transformer, slam - bam loud special affects type movies. For me, brings back childhood memories of other classics like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Wizard of Oz. Hard to believe this movie is over 40 years old. Still holds up very well...

Dark City (1998)
Great Sci fi....
29 April 2013
Still one of my all time favorite science fiction movies. Great plot. Great special affects. Acting is top notch... You rarely see such classic sci fi nowadays. Lately, It's all stupid comic book crap like Iron Man, Transformers and Spiderman. Which explains the clueless bad reviews from younger reviewers who have no patience for a good developing plot. Glad to finally see it played on cable. Until recently, I have never found it available on any premium channels till lately. But I noticed it has shown up on Comcast these past few weeks. Plot is totally original. Humans are taken to this experimental Ship to help save a dying Alien race. Only to find out they are too different from us to help save themselves from their fate...

GasLand (2010)
Guess the truth hurts for some folk..
11 March 2013
Excellent movie on the truth about fracking. Re-watched this again recently and it plays more powerful now more than ever with the spread of fracking to more states. I'm shocked at how many pro fracking morons are posting negative reviews here. Some even were stupid enough to say, well I didn't see the movie but I still think its bs. The Bush crowd just never gains any brain cells. Not one of you people who posted a negative review has a water well next to one of these fracking wells. Easy to post negative reviews from your cushy suburban house while drinking water from your public water utility. I happen to see first hand the effect of this type of drilling. I can't go a day here in the NYC area without a least a dozen pro natural gas commercials polluting the airwaves. Like the old saying, keep saying something is the truth and eventually people will believe it. Just like the BP commercials about the Gulf. For the people who do live on planet earth, check the movie out. It can be painful to watch at times, but its 1 of the more important movies that deal with pollution that you will ever see.

Backdraft (1991)
Dedicated to the firemen of world.
12 August 2010
Truly a great epic about the life of 2 brothers built around there lives as firemen. From great acting to terrific special affects showing how harrowing it is for these firemen who go in knowing that there lives are really at risk. The acting across the board is great. Russell was solid as ever. Baldwin gives a great performance as the younger brother. Glenn is fantastic as a firemen who goes to evil ways to prove the system of politics is corrupt. Have no idea why anyone would give this below an 8 for at rating. But I guess people are into lousy, stupid movies like Spiderman and the new Clash of the Titans. For people into serious movies about serious topics like firefighting will enjoy this classic from Ron Howard..

A Classic.
18 April 2009
I agree with most of the reviewers here on IMDb. This is a excellent picture. One of the best Alien movies I've seen. I can watch it a million times on cable and it never gets old. After watching that horrendous Dark Knight last year, I figure, what the heck, this can't be much worse. Instead, I turned out to be a classic in all the sense. Fantastic special affects. Great acting. Great plot. Probably wish they would of shown more of the Tripods attack on places around the NYC area. but Maybe less is more. The CGI is really good. So many movies now, you watch them and you say to yourself- lousy computer effects. Even the music score is a classic. Its a keeper for anyone who truly loves good science fiction.

Pretty good.
7 April 2009
Allot better than I thought. Had some pretty scary scenes in there from time to time. Sorta took the 28 days later feel with the quick attacking zombies that come out of nowhere. Which I like. Those old movies with these blood craving Zombies walking along at 1 mph, while the victims always seem to fall down and lay there till the monster gets them, always seem fake and stupid. At least here, you feel general fear with putting yourself in these peoples places. Acting was pretty good. Good scary feeling with this nighttime/cold snowy feel to the movie. If I had to have a grief, its the same with allot of movies- the ending. More realistic way to end the movie was to have these zombies realize the sun is finally rising, but have Hartnett stop them from going into hiding, or wherever they came from. But, I can deal with that. 90 percent of the movie is a good solid scare-gore fest..

Generation X comes home.
30 March 2009
Found myself watching this a month ago on cable, saw maybe 80 percent of it. Saw the entire film on a second viewing and found myself really liking it. Like one user said, it is sorta the Big Chill film for my age group. With all the crap out in the theaters now, It was nice to see a film with some good music and a bunch of people my age remembering the old times. All the songs brought back good memories for myself and I almost felt like i should be crashing there little reunion type get together. Kinda wish they had a prequel to this with the actual party the night before. I'm sure that would be a interesting thing to view. Curious why this wasn't released to the mainstream. I see it was shown at some Film festivals. Makes you wonder if the Big Chill was released today would they do the same thing. I guess its the times we live in.

The Shield (2002–2008)
What an ending..
26 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
After watching so many of my favorite shows end terribly, like the Sopranos and The Wire, what a relief to see this great series end on the highest of notes. Whats there to say about this last episode. Everyone has there favorite parts of this last episode. I have allot of them myself. But if I had to chose one scene, its at the very end where Vic heres the police outside his building and looks out the window. Probably pondering everything that lead him to this point. Makes you wonder, had this hadn't happen, would he have went for his gun and off to what we could only imagine who was going to be next in line for his Wrath. I thought for a second he would kill himself, but after it ended, you realize he is too much of an animal to show this type of self pity. Even the scene where he finally looks at the pictures of Shane and his family, you thought for a second that he would break down and show some emotion. Oh he showed some emotion. The usually one for him, going into a rage and ripping the camera off the wall. You know damn well he won't be able to abide by the rules the feds laid down. Too bad we won't get to see the real final result of what he will do. Than again, I think we know how this goes down...

Man on Wire (2008)
The way it was.
16 October 2008
Man on Wire is the sorta film that brings back all sorts of memories. As someone old enough to remember this Philippe's amazing feat, seeing this brought back memories of old. And of course new. As a 8 year old living in NJ, I had never been to or seen NYC up to that point of my life. But a friend of mine told me about a tree nearby tall enough to see the Twin towers from the top. It was at the time of the crossing that i climbed this tree to see the top of the towers. I couldn't see the actual crossing from the 15 some odd miles from my house. But to think someone could actually do this was something i just couldn't believe. I watched the news that night and remember the video of his arrest and the footage inside the police station. Seeing this film brought back that amazing times. And for those couple hours of movie viewing brought back a time when things like this were truly amazing and cool, and when the towers stood as a great symbol of the NYC skyline and America. As evil on a human scale as 9/11, this period shown in this movie show the opposite of that scale. And how one man's dream can now be shared by all of us in this film.

Way Overrated.
31 July 2008
The buzz from the entire media, and the general public made it sound like this was the second coming of Star Wars. Well it wasn't. A matter of fact, this way over hyped pile of garbage is one of the worse movies i have seen in years. Where to begin. Lets start with the so called great acting. You must be kidding me. Ledger does not deserve an Oscar nomination for this. If anything, Jack Nicholson does a far better job playing the Joker. Christian Bale basically mumbles through most of his Bat man parts, and isn't much better when he isn't. Plot is stupid as heck. They make the Joker sound like some super human beast from another world. A dozen officers with machine guns would of killed him off in 2 seconds. But i guess that would of ruined the story line. Any way you analyze this movie. Its just plain old bad.

Roger & Me (1989)
American Blue collar worker.
13 May 2008
The best documentary i have viewed. This is a powerful indictment of American Corporate greed and the results to the blue collar worker. Who pay the price by loosing there job with the only trade they knew how to do since joining the workforce. Yes, like the one user mentioned, Govt. has something to do with the way companies function with there laws, tax's, and tariffs. But you can't tell me that these rich companies with allot of political power in Govt. Can't just stand up and say, No. Your hurting our company with these laws. But why would they care. All Ceo's and upper management have there golden parachutes. You can say what you want about all of Moore's movies, but if they were really so full of crap like so many believe, Where are all the lawsuits. There's none, because for the most part he's telling the truth. People who hate Moore are the same, Well off Middle and or Upper class, with no worries. You won't find too many poor people or people who lost there only job they know how to do, calling Moore a fraud and bum. Because they know the truth of what greed does. The Gordon Gecko's of the world still exist. And thats a damn shame.

Jaws (1975)
The Original Blockbuster.
11 May 2008
Still remember sitting in my grandmothers garage when my cousin showed me the cover of the Book, Jaws. And how the movie version just came out. And to great reviews. I was like, do i want to see something this scary looking? Well we did. And seeing in the theater back than, when there weren't many mega theaters. Just single, huge theaters where u had to wait online for an hour. And get the real movie experience of seeing it in the theater with 500 other people. And boy, was it scary. Still remember a girl a couple rows in front of me chucking her popcorn in the air when that head pops out in that boat scene. Now many years later, i finally caught in on cable (real cable, not those bs channels that have commercials every 5 min. and there stupid pop up add adv.) And it still holds up. Great acting all across the board. The filming is perfect. I even tried to look for flaws in the shark itself, and it looks real to me, with the one exception of the scene where the shark land on the back of the Orca and starts to sink it. But thats a minor gripe. Whenever i'm down the Jersey Shore, I still have this image of Quint singing the Fair Spanish lady song. For a horror movie, There are funny scenes like that also. A true classic from Mr. Spielberg.

Platoon (1986)
A war movie not to be forgotten anytime soon.
8 February 2008
I've seen many war movies over the years. Including Platoon when it came out in the theater. And having just seen it again on cable i realize what a classic film it is. It feels as fresh and powerful as it was when i saw it when i was in the military. And how it left an impression on me than, as now. Great acting across the board. Filming style was great. I think the two parts of the movie that hit home for me the most are the famous scene with Sheen staring at incoming vc while is heart beats faster and faster. And the very end where Sheen is flying out of country while giving his thoughts to everything he went through over there. I have my war film favorites like Patton, Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down. All great movies. In this tough list, i would have to give Platoon the slight edge as my all time favorite.

The Ultimate Trip
3 January 2008
I've seen some pretty trippy movies in my day but this is the new king. I'm glad i saw this for the first time while pretty loaded myself. So it all came into view. I have new born respect for Del Toro and Depp. They pull off the modern day version of Abbott and Costello. Both feeding off each others wastedness... Though not a straight out comedy by any sense, I haven't laughed this hard watching a movie in years. Countless crazy scenes, from that lizard bar shot, to the bathtub scene with Del Toro nearly frying himself. Even the end shots with the convertable top all mangled to bits and them driving around i was laughing my arse off. Like reviewers before me stated. You either don't get it and hate this movie. Or its a classic, Wasted road trip and its a blast going along for the ride with these guys. Hunter Thompson, if we only got to know you.

Scarface (1983)
Still hold water after all these years.
15 December 2007
I still laugh when i see in the TV guide that they give this 2 stars. Good to see the reviewers here at IMDb think differently. I've seen all the great gang movies, from the Godfather movies to New Jack City. But this still remains my favorite. From the endless classic one liners to Tony's famous outburst, how can you go wrong. Plus the great shots of FlA and the early 80's music and dance scene bring back the old days. Good acting all the way around and Michelle never looked better. Every summer when i go either white water rafting or just goofing in the pool when i'm holding my water canon and about to shoot, I always come back to my favorite all time movie line- Say hello to my little friend. Lol...

Great movie.
21 October 2007
Is there honestly a better Romantic comedy out there than this? So many movies you see are more comedy than there is Romance or any serious plot. This ones hits all the right notes. I think allot of people can relate to this movie, because we see some of ourselves in the characters that are portrayed. Having seen this in the theater when released, it has become one of my favorite movies. Countless great scenes. Even small scenes like when Harry tells his friend Jess about the movers arriving at his place has a combo. of humor but also sadness because Harry knows his marriage is kaput. Sorta the way life is. Crystal has one great one liner after another. And all the actors in this movie are great. Its a ones in a blue moon good movie. And thats what makes it a classic.

Borat (2006)
Terrible is an understatement
17 October 2007
Finally saw this on cable yesterday. Holy cow. Where to begin. To say this movie stunk is a vast understatement. Bad acting, terrible dumb one line jokes. I didn't come close to laughing at any of the bologna throw at the screen. I sorta felt like the people on that train in NYC. Everyone just looking around at each other like, whose is this moron and that stupid chicken. The classic comedy of all time, Animal House gets a 7.6 and this totally hunk of crap gets a higher rating. Like the teacher in Fast Times at Ridgemont high states- You people on dope? I should of known better to try and sit through this. I saw that Sacha Cohen on John Stewart earlier this year and he wasn't funny than. He did his stupid shtick on that show and it was pretty dumb.

I'm not a fan of Western style movies. But there are exceptions, and this one is it. After all these years, seeing on cable this week, it still a masterpiece of film making. You have the great shots of the old west. The great blending of old black in white video into color. And of course the great chemistry between Newman and Redford. I can't think of another duo in a movie that had such a great mix together. So may great one liners you can't even get through all of them. I still laugh my arse off when they first arrive in Bolivia and Redford steps in crap and gives that look to the camera like, what the heck are we doing here. You almost wish the ending was different. Like they could of made it out of there and over to Australia. That could be an entire new movie.
