Dinosaurs (1991)
It's painful to watch
Not only is this vile show an obvious Simpsons knock-off, but it's also didactic, predictable, boring, irritating, cliched and just generally offensive. Think of it as TV for the extraordinarily easy-to-amuse. Everyone involved with its creation should be ashamed.
Hilary and Jackie (1998)
Am I alone in hating this movie?
I found it pretentious to the point of offensiveness. A real effort to sit through.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Too realistic
The first twenty minutes of this movie are really wonderful. Johnny Depp is wonderfully charismatic as Thompson and director Gilliam shows his special gift for spectacular visual effects, but the whole thing bogs down because it gets too realistic. Anyone who has ever been around real stoned people knows how boring they are to watch and Gilliam has captured that tedium all too accurately.
Bad Ronald (1974)
Get serious
I will admit that Bad Ronald is very good by middle-seventies TV movie standards, but the rating it has gotten here is ludicrous. More than 45 percent of voters here gave it a 10 rating. To rate Bad Ronald with the best films of all time should prompt an immediate and extensive reality check.
Gummo (1997)
Gummo for president!
Gummo is the perfect antidote to pretentious art house stuff. After one viewing, I couldn't stop thinking in Gummo images. So I saw it again. And again. An incredible work. A triumph.
