Having seen all Padilha movies, I was anxious to see this new Netflix series and had great expectations. He did it again. I cannot stop watching. One episode after another. OK if the cast is not Colombian. But they are all good actors and play the parts very well. I will try to finish this weekend all the episodes but i think there will be more seasons. Best series of the year so far. The action is great. The scenarios are perfect. The 1980's atmosphere is awesome. 10 out 0f 10. I hope they will make more series like that in the future. Good real stories and perfect action and direction. I could not expect less from Padilha.

I must say that I did not watch the original. Then, I was not expecting anything, just a good horror movie.
What a waste of time. The movie is so boring that now I am afraid to see the original. But nothing can be so bad as this movie.
It seems like they did not have Money to hire a director and actors. There is no suspense or fright scenes, the actors seem to be reading medicine prospects.
It could at least have some humor. But there was only scene after scene where I could not care less for the characters.
It is better to see the movies from the 80's. 1/10

There are some movies that are bad. And there are others that are very bad. This one is the worst of them all.
The trailer fools everybody.
Nothing happens in two hours.
I tried to read the book before but I quit. I could not believe that even Stephenie Meyer's fans could like this movie.
There is no story. We could not care less for the characters. The wheat plantation is an absolute ridiculous idea. Wheat is not nutritive.
I hope there won't be a sequel. This is the proof that an author that wrote a success can always do worst.

Definitely this is the proof that we cannot follow IMDb reviews.
People were expecting an horror movie and this movie is an Alien movie.
The great thing about the movie is that it depicts an ordinary family with ordinary problems. The father is unemployed, the mother sells houses and they were in debt with the mortgage.
The film shows that an alien abduction can happen to any family. We do not need to have special qualifications in order to aliens choose us.
The directing is great. We expect for the next scene. There are no scary moments based on sounds or camera changes. And that make the movie a program for all the family. It is a simple movie but that make people think that aliens can be here for a long time and we can stumble on then at any moment.
I will see the movie again and I hope they make a sequel because I want to know what will happen with the family.

I saw Heroes and Milo Ventimiglia still is not an actor yet.
The plot is so clichéd and copied from other movies that we should not lose more time with that.
I hoped in the end there would be a good explanation. But is more cliché and just plain ridiculous. Don't waste even 2 hours in this mini not creative series.
Probably the writers have friends in the studio.
I will continue to watch the BBC series. They are far more better than this American fast and empty series.

An Argentinian family in the fifties becomes sad when Pablo, the musician, moves to Paris to improve his skills.
After a while, the mother cannot understand why he does not write a letter. The brother and sister start writing letters pretending to be Pablo.
As times goes by, the fake Pablo sends presents and news about his success but never returns.
Based on a Julio Cortazar story, the viewer wants the movie to finish to uncover what happened. But that is not the most important. The web of lies makes the lives of everything depressing, even Pablo's fiancée who could not understand why he never wrote a letter to her.

A film that tells a story of a family gathering in a Sunday without not interesting happening had all motives to be boring.
Slow scenes, children running and playing, the grandpa happy for receiving his well behaved and always present son and waiting for the surprise of the sister coming. Will she come? Yes, and not interesting happens except for scenes from real life.
The grandpa puts his granddaughter on the shoulders and gets tired. He complains with the maid for the shoes that were obviously where they were meant to be.
The daughter is independent and unhappy, but can not admit. The son made everything he was supposed to do, is married with children but is sorrow for not being a painter. Why? Because his father is a painter, contemporary of Van Gogh, Monet, Degas and followed his dreams and is much happier than his children. The year is 1905 and the history is so simple that everybody could relate to a passage or another.

I really liked some other movies from Paul Thomas Anderson but following the opinions from other IMDb users, I went to see the movie without knowing the story. What a pain! Joaquim Phoenix is really great, like Philip Seymour Hoffman, but in a minor film.
The story is so confused and without rhythm that I just looked to the watch hoping it to be finished.
I hope Joaquim Phoenix does not get the Oscar because lots of people will try to see the movie because of that. And they will lose more than two hours of their lives with a very boring movie. Nevertheless he deserves the Oscar. If not for that, I would give this movie a 3.

Really I cannot believe the reviews in IMDb. Probably friends of the cast or the director.
The film has a good premise but they forgot the humor. They even try to make some funny moments but fail. It would be funny an office where rains but the way it is shown is not funny. Probably the cast is wrong.
William Fichtner tries to be funny bus the lines are not enough to make me laugh.
Maybe with a more developed script it could be a good movie. I only liked the guy that pants the cars without authorization.
but the director should continue trying. Maybe in his next film I will give him a 4. He should try to read more and see more films or perhaps works with most experienced directors to learn how to make a fun movie.

I could not understand the low rate of this movie. I thought it was an horror comedy movie but it is really a comedy.
I started laughing in the beginning and the best character is Albert, the 8 years old boy that needs to be babysitted because his widow mother has a party with her new 26 year old boyfriend.
The nerds are great, specially the jap/korean/oriental guy, I do not know where he comes from.
The scene in the chicken fast food is hilarious.
Maybe everybody was expecting a more sexual content like in the OC but the director delivered very well. It has lost some timing near the end but the last scene with Albert made me give this movie an 8.

I see the preview of this movie in Brazil yesterday ans I could not be more satisfied. I was expecting something like the Kan Follett adaptation on the story of Ross Perot employees in Iran. I thought it would be a new version of this story, but it isn't.
The movie tells the story of 6 American embassy employees who could not leave the country when the Xa Reza Pahlevi flees and Aiatholah Khomeini assumes the power.
They escape and find refuge in Canada embassy and spent months living in the Canadian ambassador's house.
Mendez (played by Affleck) is hired by CIA to try to get then out of Iran. He proposes to go pretending to be a Canadian movie producer and the six hostages as a production team.
Everybody in the theater was gripping the seats. The best thriller based in a real story in years.
Ben Affleck is a top director, better than an actor. Like Clint Eastwood.

America is sick.
After seeing so many praises for this movie and a average of 7.5 at IMDb, I decided to see expecting something like Ladykillers.
The cast was great but the story has nothing new. It is the poverty story with a lot of violence. Rednecks life, debts, infidelity, virginity sold.
I discovered it was a play. Probably with less violence. But even so, the story could not get me interested in more than five minutes.
I watched until the end to see if there was some grand finale, but there was only more violence, misogyny and blood.
Really I can't believe anymore in IMDb rates.
What a waste of time, cast and money. And the director William Friedkin must be senile.

Great direction in a flaw screenplay

Fernando Meirelles is one of the top Brazilian directors, if not the best. When I started watching the movie, I saw his style and was wondering that he would do that again. The initial scene with the prostitute looked very real and the movie promised. But even with strong performances from Anthony Hopkins, Ben Foster and Maria Flor, the movie never took off. The stereotypes made the movie uninteresting: Russian mobsters, an easy Brazilian girl, men looking for prostitutes when traveling. And there are no closing in the stories. The end of the movie is abrupt and without explanation. It could have been a good movie, with a more developed screenplay. 6 out of 10.

I understand that an actor should make money after a reasonable performance in a blockbuster series like Game of Thrones.
But after watching Cleanskin and now Soldiers of fortune, I cannot understand why Sean Bean should accept to make such terrible movies. One day after watching Cleanskin, I could not remember the story. But the movie could rate a 5.
But this movie is the greatest BS I watched in the entire year. A group of rich men pay to join mercenaries to fight a real war. But the screenplay is so poor that i could not believe that the screenwriters should ever finished reading a history book about any war.
Don't wast your time. This is a C movie that should never raised enough money to be more than a trailer.

Brazil's funniest movie!

After two weeks of success and more than one million viewers, I decided to watch this movie. I've got the last tickets because the session was almost sold out.
The film tells the story of three friends that every night meet in a bar to discuss women. One is older and married, the other just separated and the last only likes hookers or married women.
The movie is an actual picture of Rio de Janeiro and I spent the movie trying to identify the beautiful locations.
The cast is very good, especially Bruno Mazzeo, the guy who is separated and falls in love with the 17 year neighbour, but is afraid of getting caught.
Dira Paes is excellent as the woman of the older guy who has the right to go out drinking with her girl friends because his husband Marcos Palmeira do the same every night.
Orciollo has one of his best performances as the aspirant writer who reads his book proofs to hookers.
This is the third movie from the young director Joffily and the best of them. I hope new movies are coming, because his style is like a "carioca" Woody Allen without psychoanalysis. And he got the best performances from the actors.
The only thing against the movie is the title, who could be translated to "So... did you screw her?", that misguided me to think it was an adolescent movie. OK, all the players acted like adolescents. Men never grow up, but the dialogs are very funny and real.
I will have to see the movie again because the audience laughed out so loud that i missed some parts.

When I rent this movie, I had just finished reading the great book "The god Formula" that will be released in September in USA with the name "The Einstein Enigma", by Jose Rodrigues dos Santos.
The book explains the principles of Einstein and his search for the theory of everything. I Thought I would find some interesting explanations an research about that but find nothing in this movie.
If you have time, read the book. This author writes thrillers like no one else can do nowadays. You learn in each book he writes.
The movie is misleading because the story is more about a son finding his real father than telling about the theory of everything.

I can't understand the rates of this movie. Thanks for them, I went to the theater expecting nothing.
But...
They are older, they are still beautiful and funny. The story follows the end of the series. For those who liked the series, it will be like a long episode or an afternoon with a six-pack episode.
It left a taste of wanting more. I was happy that the series ended without losing the quality of the script. And I am happy to she that this quality is still there. I laughed a lot and wanted more, if it is possible.
I don't know if people that are not fans will like the movie. Maybe not. But I didn't fell the time passing by.
It was a guilty pleasure! I would probably see again.

It's unbelievable what marketing can do for a movie. I liked the trailer and was really waiting for this movie. Then, I saw the comments in IMDb and thought: It can't be so bad. No, the comments were wrong, The film is the worst I have seen in years.
I am not worried about the mistakes in the story. I saw it just as a film for fun. But I wanted to leave the theater after 15 minutes. Cliff Curtis doesn't deliver. He seems to be in a comedy movie, always ready to laugh. He is absolutely ridiculous as all the others in the cast. It's very disappointing.
How could they spent US$75M in such a lame movie. The special effects are terrible. The screenplay is worst.

I didn't understand all the fuzz David Letterman made about this movie. Unless he grossed some millions to say this movie is great. It's one more movie with people running from the new Godzilla kind of monster that destroys NY. And the camera trembles all movie long. The story is filmed by one of the friends in a party. More than 1/4 of the people in the theater left before the end, most of them with headaches. Some said this is the new Blair Witch Project. It is not wrong. It is as awful as Blair Witch, the camera trembles more, the acting is terrible, the lines are obvious. The only thing interesting is the head of Statue of Liberty flying down in the streets. Go see the nest promise. This is not a film to see with friends.

I tried to see this movie yesterday and the session was sold out. I couldn't understand because the film was three weeks already in the cinema. I bought the next session thinking that the movie should be very good to make me lose 3 hours. And it was worth the time. The film was funny, intelligent and very real. I could see a lot of friends in the dialogs, my girlfriend, my parents. Everybody loved the movie and I cannot understand why this movie is rated only 7/10 at IMDB Board. It is a 10/10 movie. Go see it now!

Imagine a movie that nothing happens! This is it. If you can pass the first 10 minutes where Eva Braun dances and nothing is said, you are very persistent. A silent movie is way better than that. The director should be cooking or reading, never making movies. The premise was great but the result is awful. The dialogues are poor. Even the cinematography could be better. It seems like a play with poor dialogues. I couldn't find a thing interesting in this movie. It is the first time I rate 1/10 in a movie and that because I could not give it a 0/10. This is the most boring and bada movie I've ever seem. It was just released in Brazil and I hope people don't lose their time with this movie. Go see THE PIANIST!

This movie is based on brazilian best-seller by Drauzio Varella and was directed by Babenco, both excellent. Probably will be indicated for the Oscar, correcting the mistake made with CITY OF GOD, the best brazilian movie until now. It is impossible not to compare both movies. The violence is more real in this one, the corruption of police, the dirty facilities. The prison no longer exists but the murders that happened there will never be forgotten. In spite of 2 1/2 hours, you don't feel the time passing, because the cast and the directing are perfect.
