Mostly Ghostly: Who Let the Ghosts Out? (2007)
wow...
I usually look forward every couple of months to the new DCOM movie, but they are really starting to go down hill. They built an entire movie around an unknown little boy who didn't even have the "usual" cuteness factor that Disney likes to exploit. The entire supporting cast were stars from other shows except this little boy and the girl who has a supporting role. The one positive in the movie was Madison Pettis. She was cute and it was amazing to see how much she has grown up in a few short years. Other than that, the characters were stereotypical and one dimensional. I wonder what would happen if the writers visited a few high schools and did research before creating their next movie?
The Last Don II (1998)
Decent...
I saw this one first and I LOVED it. Then I went out and bought the first one. While the first one was excellent, this one is still nice to watch. I gave the movie an 8. But I give Jason Gedrick a 10!!!!!! I've always found him to be geeky and very blasé as an actor. But he is great in this role and he looks gorgeous!
The only thing I really didn't like was the casting of Patsy Kensit. I never really thought Darryl Hannah was "the most beautiful woman in the world" she was okay. Kensit just doesn't compare to some of the other women who have played romantic roles in these movies - and her acting seemed choppy.
Other than that, this movie is just like I said in the title - decent.
The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Excellent
After reading the reviews I went into the movie very skeptical. But by 5 minutes in I was sure the critics were wrong! This movie was awesome!!!! The effects were great, the acting was great and the story lines were good. The only thing that I thought was unnecessary was the man with the professor in England who had the wife and baby that he sent to Spain. They could have left him out and the story about the professors two grandkids and it would not have mattered to the movie. Otherwise everything was good. One other plus about this movie is that it WAS NOT predictable. Even watching Independence Day, you basically knew what was going to happen scene by scene. This movie kept me glued to the screen from beginning to end. I recommend everyone go see it!
The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
I am very confused!
The movie itself was okay. But I still don't know why it was called the Emperor's New Groove. That sounds to me like there should be singing and dancing like in the Disney Tradition. There isn't. The movie is okay, don't get me wrong. But it kinda runs long. You wait for music and its not there. I would definitely recommend it for the kids to see because the trek into the woods is definitely funny. But, don't look for any big musical numbers.
Seventeen Again (2000)
Very cute! Perfect movie for family night!
This movie is very cute. It's great to see all of the Mowry children in one movie together. The story is about the son Willie (played by Taj Mowry) who is a scientist. He is trying to create a youth formula. By accident his grandparents become exposed to this and turn "seventeen again". This also causes them to begin to reminisce and realize that they still have feelings for each other. This leads to a lot of mayhem considering that now Sydney (Tia Mowry) has a twin. (With her being new in town nobody really knows the difference.) Will the grandparents get back to their true ages? You'll have to watch the movie, but its well worth it.
Mystery Men (1999)
At best its the WORST!
I recently went to the movies to see this feature and was highly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, Paul Reubens and Janeane Garofalo were funny, but they couldn't carry the movie. It starts off stupid and gets worse. You could tell it was spoofing superhero movies but not successfully. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. The trailer looked so promising too.
