Drop Dead Gorgeous (A Tragicomedy): The Power of HIV Positive Thinking (1997)
One man's look at his bout with HIV
Steve Moore is a comedian with HIV. He tells his story in a very humorous and touching way. Some may scoff and disapprove at the way he talks about AIDS and HIV, but it's yet another way to help get the word out about what this disease can do. I applaud you, Steve. You made me laugh and cry.
Enemy of the State (1998)
If you think you've had a bad day...
This movie shows that whatever your bad day - it could get a lot worse. Full of high tech toys that I wouldn't want to have watching me, it's a movie full of paranoia that leaves you a little paranoid when you leave. Special effects aren't everywhere, but excellent when used. Story line starts out interesting and builds up a lot from there. Fully exciting from start to finish and if you know Will Smith, you know that there are funny one-liners dropped in from the get-go. Regina King has the same loud but loving wife role that she played in Jerry Maguire. Gene Hackman is great as always and Jon Voight plays the same part he has lately - very articulate man that you can not stand. All in all, I give it 3 thumbs up. I recommend seeing it at least twice at the theatre. Enjoy!
Armageddon (1998)
Special Effects Extravaganza - I LOVED it!
Okay - everyone says it was a horrible movie because it was overloaded with SPFX. They are blinded (and deafened) by them. I see it differently. I liked the small sub-plots throughout the movie. No, the main plot was nothing original, but what of the rest? AJ and Grace's love, Chick's ex-wife and kid (which makes me cry every time I see it), Rockhound's $100,000 that you wonder how he'll repay (not to mention his stripper friend played by Layla Roberts (and some said Liv was the window dressing! YOWIE!)). Don't look at the main plot - look for all the subs and add them together. And expect LOTS of action. Only God could create more. I give it THREE thumbs up!
