Oh My GOD!!!

i am on a Brittany Murphy film quest, so when i went to rent some DVD's today i saw this in the new release section.

i want my money back.

this film sucked big time.

Karen Allen played such a loser in this film, and Brittney (even though she looked good) was playing a role that seemed to be a cross between her characters in "Girl Interrupted" & "Don't Say A Word".

if you feel you must see this film, then go ahead....just don't say i didn't warn you first.

My Name Is Barbra (1965 TV Special)

One Of The Best Television Specials Of All Time!!

If people didn't know who Barbra Streisand was before this,...(is that POSSIBLE?)...they sure knew who she was after!

This show went on to win 5 Emmys, & stands out as one the best things Streisand has ever done.

It's made up of 3 acts....

ACT I...Barbra singing standards from room to room, filled with musicians, including a segment where she is a little girl again,all ending with a splendid version of her signature song,(at the time)..."People".

ACT II....A musical tour of Bergdoff-Goodman,while Barbra Sings poverty songs..it's better than it sounds...

ACT III.....The best part, Just Barbra,musicians,& some great songs,like....."Happy Days Are Here Again",& a "Funny Girl" medley....

all in all, a great part of television history,made by one of the greatest performers in the world!

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

a 2 hr "muppet movie"

i like SW just as much as the next person. but this one..how can i say it w/o being rude... oh forget it...this one nearly SUCKED!

granted it is the most stunning visual effects film i have ever seen.

the pod race was GREAT.

DARTH MUAL RULES..(as the best villain on film)...i was almost rooting for him....he should have had more screen time

jar-jar banks, phu-lease Mr.Lucas, kill him off BEFORE episode 2

natalie portman....a mixture of cher and karen allen..(from, Raiders) did she raid "LaBelle's costume closet?

i KNOW this is just the beginning a set up for 2 & 3 so it's forgivable but i didn't see why people were waiting in line for 4 t0 6 weeks and some shelling out between $100-$1000. i just walked up to the box office paid $18.00 for 4 tickets and walked right in no lines-no problem

look IT'S STAR WARS go see it-you need to because i feel 2 & 3 are gonna kick ass

Note to Mr.Lucas....if there is any way you can bring back darth maul w/o looking too stupid (i know it's impossible...but hey, if "Bobby Ewing" can come back from the dead, why can't he)i would love it!

Once Were Warriors (1994)

ONE OF THE BEST FILMS OF THE DECADE!!

honestly, that statement is very true. i had heard about this film when,Siskel & Ebert, reviewed it on their show,and gave it 2 thumbs up! i saw a little and decided to see it. unfortunately,it was only playing in 1 or 2 theaters,and they were too far to go to,so i waited for the video release.(thank god for movie rentals! you get to see films you probably wouldn't see anywhere else,and they usually are BETTER than the major releases.) i am glad i saw it. it is one of the best films i had ever seen! the 3 main characters,(beth-played by Rena Owen,grace-played by Mamaengaroa Kerr-Bell,and jake-UNFORGETTABLY PLAYED BY,Temuera Morrison) are so believable,you almost think you're peeking into their private lives. i know it's been said before,but,they all should have had OSCAR nominations. and i'll even go so far as to say,Temuera Morrison(jake),should have gotten one!! his performance was clearly the best performance by an actor that year.TRUST ME, this movie is an incredible piece of filmmaking. you even feel for jake somewhat, and that's hard to do when you play a role no one is supposed to like. PLEASE,if anyone goes to the video store and is looking for a great film. instead of checking out a movie that cost,$40,000,000 to make,and isn't even worth the price of a rental search for Once Were Warriors. i GUARANTEE you will not be disappointed.

Ladybird Ladybird (1994)

an incredible performance!

Chrissy Rock gave an unforgettable performance in this little seen film. i highly recommend anyone to go out and rent it. another great but "little seen" film is "Once Were Warriors". my advice is if you go to the video store to rent a couple movies, and are interested in how movies should be made,search for these 2 titles,and you'll see your trip to the video store was well worth it!

Moonstruck (1987)

SNAP OUT OF IT!!!

those were 4 of the funniest words to come out of Cher's mouth! it's very easy to fall in love with this film, and it's very easy to see why. the writing, (which,John Patrick Shanley,received a much deserved Oscar for!) is first rate. i dare ANYONE,to try, just try to watch this film,and NOT quote your favorite lines along with it. i love the movie so much, i quote the entire film (lol). Cher's performance,(along with everyone else's) is sheer magic. i remember seeing it for the 1st time in the theater, and not wanting it to end! i am not a big Nicolas Cage fan, but i can't see anyone else play his part.Jewison's direction is excellent.and i have to admit,the cooking scene where Olympia Dukakis fries that poached egg on toast,gets me hungry everytime i see it! besides loving Cher so much,i love this film because it reminds me of my family in certain ways, as i'm sure some others see that also. i cried when i saw Cher get her Oscar. (even though she deserved it more for MASK.) and it made me think,"you've come a long way" i urge evryone to rent it again, and remember your favorite lines from this marvalous movie "ti amo"
