First Knight (1995)
A good movie
26 May 1999
I have spent a considerable amount of time studying the old, medieval tellings of the legend, as well as researching the 'real' Arthur (who existed pre-medieval, around the 6th or 7th century) and I enjoyed this interpretation. The only really bad thing that stuck out was the costumes. Many were not historically accurate. In particular, the costumes of the knights were terrible! Same with the construction of the round table room. It looked like something out of Star Trek.

I liked it

I generally don't put any trust in people's opinions of movies because they're usually way too harsh and critical. I was in the play A Midsummer Night's Dream (I played Hippolyta) and I personally found it just a cute, funny, silly play. It's certainly not considered one of Shakespeare's best, although I really like it. It's not like they're trying to do Hamlet or King Lear for this movie; plays that should be taken seriously. I think that the movie MSND, because of the style and purpose of the play, shouldn't be criticized so much. No one's really certain of how to interpret the play; it is silly and funny on the surface, but how much is there underneath? Suffice it to say, lay off being so harsh on the movie; there is no *one* interpretation of this unusual play.

As an English major, i enjoyed watching this version of the movie as a different perspective from the play.

Grease 2 (1982)
hahahahahahaha
5 March 1999
Ok, I love "Grease" and am currently performing the musical, but Grease 2 has to be one of the worst movies EVER, and I'm not usually really critical about movies. Acting, directing, songs (ouch!), everything about it. It is fun to watch though, just because of how horrible it is. My friends & I laughed at it all the way through. Kind of like when you watch Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" just to have a good time making fun of it.

I found it really cute and funny, and I thought that it was nice how they did add some "killing blows" as someone put it, of plot and sentiment (the tiger and the daughter) because even though this movie isn't "deep" per se, it gave it something else besides the fart jokes. I liked this movie and I think a lot of children would like it too.

Swing Kids (1993)
Some people have obviously missed the point of this movie
31 January 1999
Ok for you people who refer to all the Germans as "worthless human beings" and talk about how this movie didn't focus on the holocaust, etc....WAKE UP! The point of this movie was to give another perspective on the war. Not all Germans were souless killers. Throughout the movie you could see the consciences of the main characters being pushed and pulled about what was happening. Over here in Western culture, everything is portrayed in black and white: all the Germans were completely evil, and we were the good ones. No one is denying that the Germans committed some horrific atrocities, but there were some who resisted doing those crimes, and others who actually believed that they were morally in the right because of centuries of ingrained anti-semitism. Geez, North America was anti-semitic then too! Swing Kids looks at Germany from the inside, and the different forces that were at work. Everyone knows what happened during the Holocaust....this movie wasn't about that. I think people should look at all different viewpoints before classifying all the people in a certain group (ie all of the German nation) into one cubbyhole of evil.

SERGE 18
16 January 1999
There are two types of moviegoers.. people who like this movie and intelligent people.

What gives you the right to pass judgement on other people and infer that they're idiots just because they like something that you don't? I saw this exact comment about another movie here on the IMDb; I can't remember what movie it was or who made the comment...it could have been you. I'm tired of seeing people so swallowed up in what *they* think is "quality" that they shoot down other people if they don't conform to their opinions. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When I rented Pride and Prejudice to see it for the first time I didn't realize it was six hours...but I was captivated the whole way through! I stayed up until 4:30 am watching it because I was so impressed. An excellent movie....that's all I can say.

An exciting and intriguing look at cultural differences
9 January 1999
As a cultural anthropology student, I found this movie very interesting. It is an insightful look into the Iranian culture from the inside, and through the eyes of a North American woman. To a woman used to equality between the sexes and normal, everyday freedom to do things like go for a walk without being questioned, being trapped in Iran must have been a horrible shock. Their

culture is very different from ours, and for someone not used to it.....anyway, I can only imagine what she must have been feeling as she tried to escape Iran with her daughter.

Sally Field's acting was superb, and the plot, especially since it was based on a true story, was powerful. To anyone interested in the lives of Arab women this century I highly recommend this movie, as well as the book "Princess" by Jean Sassoon, also a true story.

Very good
1 January 1999
I loved this movie; the animation was superb, and the telling of the story certainly came closer to the Bible than the Ten Commandments did.

I was disturbed by Daniel McKinney's comment on how a story in which the protagonists succeed by violence and slaughter etc can't set a moral standard. That was how the story was written in the book of Exodus; Pharoah enslaved Israel for 400 years, killed thousands of Hebrew babies, treated the Hebrews like dirt......the Angel of Death (from which Jewish Passover derives) only appears when all other attempts by Moses to free the Israelites have failed. The death of the first borns that night hardly compares to 400 years of slaughter and torture for the Hebrews.

I also appreciated how, after the Angel of Death scene, Moses was not rejoicing in "victory" but rather heartbroken over what had to occur.

I enjoyed this movie, despite the few discrepancies from the Bible. The animation was brilliant, the songs were beautiful, and the story was generally well told.

Armageddon (1998)
I enjoyed it
26 November 1998
What is with all you people being so harsh on this movie? No, it did not have a long and complicated plot, and a lot of the scientific space stuff probably wasn't too realistic (although you'd probably have to be well read and educated in that field to truly judge; otherwise you are being ignorant) but it was an enjoyable movie. And the idea of an asteroid hitting Earth isn't as completely off base as some of you seem to think; if you were listening to the news this year, you'd know that an asteroid (the size of Texas, I should add) has been spotted and may possibly hit earth 30 years from now. Armageddon was not extremely deep and involved but it wasn't shallow either. It pulled at your emotions because you could actually put yourself in the character's place; not in the fact of going out to space, but in dealing with losing a loved one. For all you sour, bitter, "Armageddon was crap, the acting was terrible, it had no plot," etc, just lighten up! Go see Grease 2 --> that'll really give you something to complain about.
