The Ice Road (2021)
Liam and Laurence must have owed somebody favors
It's not so much that the movie is bad as it's wondering how on Earth they managed to get Liam Neeson and Laurence Fishburne to feature in it.
Sometimes we all just need a "turn off the brain" fun kind of movie. And it's not like those movies have to be based fully in reality, but they at least make sense. This movie just doesn't make any sense at all.
I don't want to give an spoilers, but suffice to say that the "conflict" part of the narrative is just such nonsense at to make it hard to even care about the plot. What's more is that the writing and the acting are really subpar.
The main problem is that the movie tries to sell itself as one where the characters actually have some emotions for the situation that's going on. But then a character dies and it seems like more of a "welp, that's a shame".
It's just a bad movie. There are MUCH better random action movies to tap into if that's what you're looking for.
The Rookie: True Crime (2021)
NO IDEA how the writing staff could have signed off on this episode. Skip it. It's awful.
All in all, this has been a pretty entertaining show. It's silly at times, but it's also entertaining and the plot moves pretty well.
I have NO idea how the writing team thought this episode was a good idea. I made it about 25 minutes in and had to skip it. It's SO poorly done. It's SO stupid. It's just unbearable to watch it.
The ratings on this episode are very accurate. It sucks.
Don't let this episode summarize the show for you in any way. The show itself is nothing like this episode, but this episode was just plain awful.
Baby Boom (1987)
just a brief comment on when NOT to watch this movie
I am currently sitting on my couch on Christmas Eve, it's raining outside, freezing cold, and I've had a few glasses of wine. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing atmosphere.
If you ever find yourself in a similar setting and this movie comes on TV, do NOTTTTTTTTT turn it on.
I tried to sit through it, but have finally had to turn it off. I never thought a movie could add so much stress to my life, but apparently it can. As if the kid crying every few minutes isn't annoying enough, Keaton can never seem to shut the hell up either. If you're not annoyed by her screaming and/or having multiple breakdowns on screen, you'll most certainly be annoyed by her inability to multitask when presented with the obstacles of a child. She's supposed to be this big shot business woman in the 80's and yet, for some reason, can't seem to find a good nanny in all of NYC to take care of the damn kid. For god sakes, 3 men and a baby worked it out - she can too.
I won't begin to suggest this has been a very articulate posting, but I assure you, this movie is awfully irritating. I would strongly suggest staying clear of it.
Legion of Fire: Killer Ants! (1998)
Ouch...
Normally I enjoy watching a bad movie late at night. Sometimes it can be a good way to fall asleep or at least it creates a cinematic ambience in the room while I am working on something else. Not only is this the worst movie I have ever seen in my life, EVER, but it was so incredibly frustrating to watch. You expect cheesy stuff, surre, but this flic didn't even take you down that road. Just one stupid occurrence after another and the acting - dear god if they got paid to act in this movie - I could be a millionaire! After all of that, if you are still curious, the digital graphics that work to create the 'killer ants' could have been made on a Tandy 1000. Like I said, it's very frustrating to watch.
Seriously, if this movie comes on, you are warned. It is not worth your time even if you enjoy less than good movies.
The Versace Murder (1998)
Did you ever make a movie when you were 8? This could be it.
This is hands down the worst movie I have seen in months.
The script flows fairly well except for the fact the FBI always seems to be just one step behind, and I mean ONE step. It gets pretty corny when FBI agents are literally supposed to be 20 foot away but 'Andy' manages to run away.
The acting is just plain horrible. I don't like to poke at specific people, but Shane Perdue has not done another movie (according to the DB) and I think it will stay like that. Even Steven Bauer, who plays the FBI agent, also doesnt deliver the best performance in this flic though I generally have liked his work.
If its on TV - take a look but you'll most likely find yourself deciding who delivers their lines the worst.
Corn on the Macabre (1997)
What I think
I think that Corn on the Macabre is a great intro level film. It needs some editing work but the storyline is great. Excellent acting skills in the commercial. Hope to see many more flicks like this in the future.
