Varsity Blues (1999)
4/10
Like every other sports movie. A waste of time.
31 December 1999
I was optimistic when I rented this movie. I love Dawson's Creek and so I assumed that James Van Der Beek would be good in this one. However, Varsity Blues was one of the biggest disappointments. It was your typical sports movie about teenagers who drink and have sex. I did not like these kind of jocks in high school and I did not like them in the movie. I respected Moxon and Billy Bob because they were not like the others.

I was also disappointed with the scene where Billy Bob is shooting at his trophies and Moxon comes to comfort him. this scene, in my mind, was only added to try and make the movie somewhat serious. The ending was way cheesy too. How many times have we seen the hero let the underdog win the championship game? Too many times I think. The only really good thing about this movie was Moxon's little brother who was quite funny with all of his religious costumes. I do not think the actors did bad jobs but I think the plot has been done before. I also think that it was unrealistic for Jon Voight's character to just quit after the team told him off. If he was so hardcore on football, he would not have quit and become nice all the sudden. Overall I think MTV needs to stop making these kind of idiotic movies that just glamourize typical jockish-male-dominated-sex-drinking movies. I give it a 3/10. booooo hisssss

A delightful comedy worth seeing!
23 December 1999
First off, let me say I have wanted to see this movie for about a year now because I knew Angelina Jolie was in it and I love her. But my love for her has nothing to do with my opinion of the movie. Anyhow, no video stores carried it but low and behold the local library did. I watched it and absolutely loved it. Yes there were Italian stereotypes but it was done well and funny. It was not degrading in any way.

Every actor and actress did a superb job. I laughed very hard at the sexual humor. Overall, I think this movie is well worth seeing if you can find it. It is adorable and just plain fun to watch. I rarely rank movies as a 10 but I give this one a 10!!!

Go find it and watch it!

Your typical horror movie. Not worth the trip.
30 October 1999
I expected a lot from this movie. Maybe I should not have. I figured any movie with Geoffery Rush would be good, plus Chris Kattan. This could very well have been a good movie except some of the acting by the females was not so good. It had your typical horror movie elements. Gore. and lots of it. very bloody. Girl falls down running alot and stares at the scary thing. Boy yells at her to hurry up. All people keep going into the basement even though everyone that goes down there has bad stuff happen. Could have been good had it not had these points and if the actresses would have done a little better and if there was not so much blood and gore and decapitated heads. Bravo though to Geoffery Rush and Chris Kattan. At least they were good.

Claire Danes at her worst.
25 October 1999
The movie looked hopeful. It turned out to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It could not decide if it wanted to be about WWII or about Daisy's life in New York. And the story between her and the boy of her dreams is completely unrealistic. He suddenly falls for her just because she wrote a poem about him. Basically I hated this movie and was tempted many times to turn it off. I rented it from the library and paid 50 cents, let me just say it is not even worth that!

Fight Club (1999)

Leaves you with your mouth hanging open.

First let me say that all the actors in this film did an excellent job! (round of applause especially for the great Edward Norton) The film work was also really awesome. The plot however is ehhhh... I don't know what to say about it. There was obviously a lot of violence in it which was very hard to watch, but the plot was deeper than that. I can't say anymore without giving away the best part. Let me just end on the note that when you leave you will just be like "wow, I don't know what to think or say about that." It takes a couple days to put things in perspective. But it would be to your interest to see it if not for the great film effects, but for the great acting.

Well worth my time! An excellent pick.

I thought this movie was definitely worthy of my time. The plot was cute and the list of actors/actresses was amazing! I think that every actor/actress played their part perfectly. Many people may be annoyed at Christina Ricci's Long Island accent and attitude, but that's the character and she did a great job of playing it. And who does not love a good 80s movie also? An added bonus is that Elvis Costello has a cameo, c'mon you should see it just for that. A really good movie that didn't get enough recognition.

A sweet movie that leaves you feeling giddy.
9 October 1999
I saw this movie and although the plot is unoriginal, "drive me crazy" was so adorable and sweet. I found myself smiling during the whole movie and when I left I just felt happy. Yes, like others say, the plot is really cliche, but I think this movie does the cutest version of it. I would see it over and over again.

Swimsuit (1989 TV Movie)
7/10
One of my favorite TV movies!
5 October 1999
I saw Swimsuit when I was little, like 8 years old. I taped it and would watch it over and over again for about 3 years. Now just in recent years I kept seeing Ally Walker and I knew I had seen her before so i did some searching and when it said "swimsuit" i just knew! oh yea!! I had such a crush on Billy Warlock too. This Tv Movie is full of cheesiness that makes it a great 80s film.
