Johnny Depp Should Have Won An Oscar!
28 June 2004
Johnny Depp, in my humble opinion, has been ignored far too long by Tinseltown. His acting in this film was truly gifted and inspired. If you have not seen this movie, please do so. Mr. Depp is able to completely submerge in whatever character he plays and he does so amazingly in his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. A pirate with a heart of gold! Oh, the movie is great, too! Orlando Bloom is fantastic and the special effects are quite phenomenal. I cannot believe that the Disney Studies actually produces this film so perhaps there is still hope for them after Eisner.

Still Crazy After All These Years
29 December 2002
I have not seen this movie in over twenty years, but it was on my Amazon wish list and I got it. If you were raised during the Cold War you will love this movie! If you have never heard of it before - rent it and watch it - I believe you will enjoy the experience. Just put your mind in the sixties.

One of the BEST shows ever!
11 May 2002
I am currently reviewing the episodes on Hallmark. This show is actually better the second time around! I had always believed that this was a 'smarter than the average view' kind of show as few people seemed to understand the subtle humor evoked from the characters and Alaskan setting. Alaska is, perhaps, the US of A's final frontier as we seem to have given up on our manned conquest of space. The Cold War was over, and we (at that time) seemed to harbor no serious threats - we embraced the Russians and Chinese, learned that we were a funny conglomerate of diverse identities making an attempt at universal peace and understanding. The characters were believable and the acting inspiring! After ten years I still feel the magic!

This will be a classic - if only in TV/Psych 101....

Still scared the s**t out of me!
27 August 2000
Although it has been nearly two decades since I first saw this movie - and the USSR is now a thing of the past, it is still a very haunting movie. When I first saw it (1983), I had nightmares for days afterwards. I haven't had nightmares this time but I still am awed of the capacity our species has for destruction - our own, and our planets! If you watch it, try to remember when a nuclear holocaust was a real possibility!

Necropolis (1986)
Boring biker bit bites big'un!
16 July 1999
This movie is a Great Waste of Time! A tired witch turned punk-rock bimbo tries to keep her youth (Duhh!) by sacrificing a virgin in New York City, but seems to have a bit of a problem finding one. I never have understood *why* a virgin has to be (a) female, (b) teen-aged; and, (c) pretty! However, if you want to see more of the same with the obligatory T&A - here's your chance! Poor acting, sloppy direction and choppy scenes. I hate to mention that the sound quality also seems to be lacking! Don't bother!

FANtastic film - highly recommended if you like action films!
27 June 1999
If you, as I did, grew up in the early seventies and LOVED the Bruce Lee and David Carradine films/TV of the time; if you enjoyed watching *White Line Fever* or *Billy Jack*, you will probably enjoy this flick. Salma Hayek is to *die* for - Antonio Banderas is quite believable. If you like this movie, be sure and check out "From Dusk Till Dawn". Robert Rodriguez is an outstanding director/producer; (I was told that Quentin Tarantino produced/directed this movie?). The SOUND TRACK is EXCELLENT! If, for no other reason - listen to the SONGS!

Outrageously funny, dark satire of a divided society
21 June 1999
I believe I first saw this movie some two years after it was first released. I had previously seen the first movie, "Fritz the Cat", but was not impressed. Growing up in the seventies (I turned eighteen and graduated High School the same year as this release), I was extremely aware of most of the social problems this film attempted to address: bigotry, racism, war, sexuality, drugs, and the "What am I going to do with my life?" syndrome that affected quite a few of us at this time. To the next generation studying their parents' adolescence: This is some of what we had to go through.

Campy fun when I was 10, silly now - but fond memories!
21 June 1999
My mom first introduced me to the show in the last part of 1964 and I immediately became hooked. This was a spy show that ranked right up there with Mr. 007 himself! There was a fantastic chemistry between the actors and the first year or so were more dramatic than comedic. Still, I have found memories of this show. I collected everything I could find: books, posters, toys, & comic books (I still have those!). At a time of Viet Nam, the Cold War and Mao Tse-Tung - this was a great escape for young minds.
