Season 2??
19 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved Meloni's interpretation of the character, she's a phenomenal actress. But the series ends right in the middle of the story! It hints at a second season, but as this is listed as a mini series it seems doubtful. I was really invested in seeing what happened next, and it just ends on an enormous cliffhanger?! I had some issues with how aspects of the story seemed wholly unnecessary, like the setup of Dana as a writer, the next door neighbors, and Kevin's sister. The story also glosses over the lack of scrutiny on the backgrounds of some of these characters and their motives. But what happens next??? I need to see where this goes.

For a show so expensive, why does it look so cheap?

What on Earth was Amazon spending all that money on, when this show feels a bit like the Emperor parading without clothes? The acting, directing, photography, Ave special effects are not high quality. This is the modern version of Stargate or Babylon 5 in terms of relative quality compared to what the competitors are producing. My guess is the costs for the production were wildly inflated in order to reduce their taxes. Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of quality production certainly did not go into this show. This is a travesty compared to Peter Jackson's LOTR. It's on to watch, but don't buy into the hype. It's all marketing and nowhere near the quality and substance it's purported to be.

Jumped the shark

I have watched this show my entire life. I cried when they finally revealed a female Doctor. But the writing and acting have been so poor since Matt Smith left that I can't stand to watch what they have done to my beloved show. Peter Capaldi a fantastic Doctor, but was limited by a decline in the writing. Everything about the show since they brought on Jodie Whittaker has been extremely poor writing and terribly disappointing.

Dead Like Me (2003–2004)
Completely wonderful, Alive

This show is easily one of my favorites. Ellen Muth's interpretation of the disaffected, cynical teenager who is forced into sticking to a higher standard is right on. The writers have produced some of the funniest comedy, especially where George's boss Dolores is concerned; a former junkie who has taken home drifters ("passionate lovers", she calls them), who gives no thought to using a Tazer on a courier at the elevator in order to get her incontinent cat to the vet. The dialogue is funny, and hearing what's going on inside George's head while she puts on a smile is more than a little amusing. The show still visits the serious side of things, showing how the Lasses lost a daughter, while George has lost her whole family. Little by little, the audience is fed bits and pieces of information about the lives and deaths of the main characters. Most mysterious is Rube. He has a love-hate relationship with the unseen being who delivers the death lists, and we know only that he had a daughter, and that he attempted to send money to someone named Rosie and her mother back in the 1920's. (The postal service failed to deliver it,unknown to him until 2004.) We can only wait to find out how everyone's lives -and deaths- have played out. This show is absolutely nothing like Six Feet Under, for which I am grateful.
