The Castle (1997)
What A Great Movie
This is one of those gems that you have no idea what it is or about when you see it in the TV guide. It was on IFC and luckily for me the little write-up made it sound interesting so I recorded it and just watched it. The Castle is very funny, quirky and the age old story of battling the windmills. The actors are excellent in their portrayal of the characters and the story line is full of humorous tidbits that you think about for a second and then laugh. It is not meant for kids because there is fluent use of the F word but it didn't spoil the film for me. I probably would of said it the same way.
I am going to recommend this film to all my friends and will watch it again to catch little things I missed the first time.
The Flight That Fought Back (2005)
God Bless The Courage Of The Passengers And Crew Of Flight 93
This movie is an excellent way for all of us to never forget what happened on September 11th, 2001. We need to always remember all of those innocent people who died because of a madman. In The Flight That Fought Back we are brought into that day through news reports and interviews with friends and relatives of the passengers and crew of Flight 93. When cowards take over Flight 93 and plan to crash it into the White House or US Capital the best of America came forward to fight back: the crew and passengers of Flight 93. I can only hope that I will be as brave as those Americans if I'm ever confronted with this type of situation. God Bless you all for you are all true American Heroes and you will never be forgotten.
And to you Osama Bin Laden cowards may win battles they will not win the war.
The Last Waltz (1978)
Finest Music Ever Made
Watched on AMC tonight and after all these years the music is and the artists are the best ever. Thank you Mr. Scorsese for this film and a tip of the glass to those that have passed on. God Bless all of you and the beautiful music you've left us.
Mystery, Alaska (1999)
Made for a pleasant afternoon movie.
I'm a big hockey fan in a hockey family and have a few hockey movies and this one I liked. Get past the fact that the Rangers would play any hockey team out of the NHL and you can enjoy this movie. The acting was good with a nice variety of the characters in the movie and the story, with a few small stories also, was fun to watch unfold. I agree with the ending of the movie (I won't say for those that haven't seen it). It was made right for me. I would not watch Mystery with kids under 15 yrs ' cause the sexual stuff is quite suggestive. Add it to your sport movie library.
The Song of Bernadette (1943)
One of the best movies I've seen.
I can not say anything bad about this movie. It held me spellbound for its entire length and it is a long one, 2 3/4 hours. My 4 year old son woke me up at 5:30am and, not being able to go back to sleep, I found this movie starting at 6am. I will forever be grateful to him for the interruption in my slumber. The acting, backdrop, sound track and content was wonderful. The look on Bernadette's face when she sees the beautiful lady was amazing. I cried a few times and wondered why, when people belive in God so much, they would doubt this young lady's vision. The innocence portrayed by Miss Jones was so moving and I am very happy to hear that Mary Bernard was chosen to be a saint. If you haven't seen this movie please look for it for you will not be disappointed.
