WONDERFUL!!!!!!! (for a TV-movie)
5 March 2001
One of the best TV movies ever. I loved it. Elisabeth Shue was absolutely beautiful in this movie. I only give it a 9 out of ten because a couple of parts were confusing. I got lost with Dottie's story. Some of it was a little odd at parts, but it was all good. A very wonderful movie. If only Elisabeth Shue was like this in every movie she's made. See it for her.

Um...what?
12 January 2001
Yeah, the movie started like it actually may have a point to it. Then, after she went to that club (I don't even remember the name of it and I saw it three hours ago), it just went downhill. It was more of a fish-out-of-water kind of movie than a movie about dancing. It was so predictable, I was counting off the seconds from when they were about to kiss! The only good point was that Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas had such good chemistry and were so cute. Still, it didn't make up for a shallow plot, stereotypes and an idea that went nowhere.

Adorably Cheesy ***SPOILERS***
30 November 2000
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I watched it on HBO. I knew it was going to be a little cheesy (all romances are, to a certain degree), but not this bad. The idea was good, but it just didn't flow right. The script could've been written a little better. The thing that really p***** me off with this movie was the two year skip. It goes from the candlelight dinner to the stroller that fits three. You never see the coaching she claims to do, the pregnancy or the birth. Who cares whose smile it has? And the most miscast of the whole movie was most definetly Jennifer, played by Lauren Holly. Could she be any more of a wimpy loser? She acted as if she was helpless and she cried at almost everything. If they would've had a more girl-power-like Jen, it would've been much more pleasant to watch the scenes with her.

But enough about the bad things. This movie had many strong points. The idea was very cute and likeable for anyone who loves Greg Kinnear and sweet-marriage-romances. Ladies, if you thought he was sizzling in 'As Good As It Gets', he was so hot in this movie, my TV was hot. (Or maybe it was electricity. Who knows?) He played a great husband and an even funnier patient at the clinic (with the hilarious nurse). Lindsey Hamilton was a husband stealer you could like and did it quite well. Joan Cusack cracked me up with her mortician stories. Danny's buddy was funny, especially with the story about his kids' dates. Of course, the funniest part of the whole movie was the B.J. attempt. 'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!' 'I heard this was supposed to turn you on.' Man, I was nearly falling off of my couch, laughing. And watching Greg playing with those babies at the end almost made me believe that those were his real kids. He was a natural at that.

All in all, it's a movie that builds you up for the big finish and, when the credits roll (with the cute babies on the side...awww), you're left thinking, 'THAT was the ending?' I was hoping to watch some pregnancy humour (i.e. Look Who's Talking), but I was disappointed when it abruptly ended. It's not a terrible movie. If you've got a cool 95 minutes and are looking for a cute movie to rent AFTER you get engaged (try this on your bf or gf and prepared for 'I have to get up early tomorrow.'), this is it. If not, just rent 'My Best Friend's Wedding'.

Likeable, but not unforgettable
18 August 2000
I watched this movie a few times when I rented it, and it was an okay movie. I'm not Jewish, but it was a movie where you didn't have to be Jewish to like it. I like it, but I didn't love it. I was somewhat disappointed with it, because there were some scenes where I just wandered my eyes elsewhere, or used the fast-forward button when I watched it again.

The only story from the twenty-mini-subplots going on at once that I really liked was the friendship-romance between Ben and Sylvia. ('Mr. Kurtzman...would you come out of the closet please?') The little Melvin story with Joe Mantegna got boring after a while. The story between Van and that girl he likes was just plain stale from the get-go. His friend Yussel, with dying his hair blond and his story about being Scandinavian to pick up a girl, was pretty funny as well.

But that's just my opinion.

Go rent it yourself. Give it a chance. It's not incredibly terrible. Bebe Neuwirth's performance was great, if not small, as Ben and Van's mother. ('Just kill me now! Just kill me now!') Ben Foster shines throughout the movie and becomes a character you love instantly. Van's friend Yussel was great as well. ('When was the last time they went shopping? 1906?') The ending was touching and if the rest of the movie was like the first half-hour and last ten minutes, I would say this was the best movie, but it's not.

6.5/10.

London Suite (1996 TV Movie)

Hilarious Play!
10 August 2000
This movie rocked! I taped and watched it three times in two days. I totally loved it! It's not for people who can't follow four stories at one, but I can and understood all of them.

The first story is about Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a distraught newlywed who can't find her husband for a party. 'My olive is gone.' Instead of telling the truth, she tells the guests that her husband has 'hemoglybosisis'.

The second story, and arguably the funniest, Michael Richards throws out his back. 'Mrs. Sitgood, as you can see, I'm talking to you from the floor. The floor is the only thing that kept me from landing in the lobby.' His wife, Julie Hagerty, and Dr. McMerlin try to help his back problems and end up on the floor with him.

The third story, an emotional one at best, is Kelsey Grammer, a gay man, and his ex-wife who's still in love with him. He comes to London to meet her so he can have money for his significant other, Max.

The fourth story is about Madeline Kahn and her daughter, who hooks her up with Richard Mulligan, and invites her for a night out. 'Smell my hair. It smells like I was at a five day barbecue...I'm going to be at the theater and suddenly, someone will yell FIRE!.'

Probably the funniest quote and an indicator that it's from a play was: 'Why are we talking like this? It sounds like we're talking in a musical.' This is way better than a musical. I loved it and the next time it's on TV, watch it. No excuses.

Big Brother (I) (2000– )
The Little Stupid House on the Prairie
19 July 2000
Can you say total, total Real World rip off? I saw the first few minutes of one of them and I nearly threw up. Survivor is Survivor. Big Brother is Crap. 'Nuff said. Stop with the reality-tv rip offs, for the sake of the children!

Survivor (2000– )
Great show that keeps you on edge
19 July 2000
Survivor is great. It was a great idea and they should stop with these dumb rip-offs. Like another user said, they shouldn't turn it into Real World. Let this one and Survivor II run its course and then release the first one in a 13-episode box set of tapes with un-cut footage. Then just stop it, because, by then, everyone will have lost the flavor. This is a great show and every week, it just gets better and better!!!!!

No gem, just plain nice.
18 July 2000
See this movie directed by and starring Jason Alexander. It's not a one-of-a-kind movie, it's not an 'American Beauty' and it's not unforgettable. Heck, it's a one-star movie! It's got a good story idea, but the movie would've been a lot better if they had an excellent script, because some parts are just way out there. See it for Jason Alexander and Jay Mohr. Jay was downright hilarious. Jason was good at acting un-George-like.

The main problem was about 15 minutes in, I wanted to shoot the performers of the irritating background music. 'Okay, we get the point already! You're in a capella jazz group, now shut it!'

And, ladies, by the end of the movie, I'm sure you'll be thinking that Jason IS the most adorable guy on the planet, too, inside and out. Too bad he's married. (His wife's in the movie as the cop about three minutes from the end of the movie.)

A Stupid-Funny Movie for Everyone!
9 July 2000
I was so excited to see 'Rocky and Bullwinkle' (Being at the age I am, I was rarely lucky enough to wake up at five in the morning to watch reruns. Still, the cartoon rocks.). Anyway, when I watched, I had to really focus on it hard and long to get the point. And you know what? I saw it last week and I still don't get it! Don't bother searching for the main idea, because there isn't one. Don't leave to go to the bathroom, because you'll miss a rock in the road to an Almost Point.

Still, with Bullwinkle's stupid puns, the cameos and the references-to-other-movies comments, it turns out to be pretty darn funny when you put your mind to it. For adults who used to watch it, this movie will also strike your fancy. It's for everyone, ages 2 - 200 and it's very clean.

Seinfeld-ers, like myself: if you're going in there for the sole purpose of fine actor Jason Alexander, don't bother. Even though he played the part to perfection, if you time how long he's on-screen, he's in the movie at a maximum of 20 minutes. And that scary mustache of his will give you nightmares.

Evolution's Child (1999 TV Movie)
Poor script, great movie
19 May 2000
Okay, so what can you expect from the USA network? Still, the idea was great and the storyline was good. I think the script, however, should have been better written. There's too much talking and not enough doing. You have to pay close attention to the words or you could miss details that they don't show you. The movie does jump a lot in the beginning. One second, the Cordells are in a clinic and in the next scene, she's miraculously pregnant. Sit tight and tape it if possible so when you say, 'What?' at a scene, you can just rewind it. All in all it's a good movie, especially about ten minutes from the ending. Strong performance by Heidi Swedberg, no longer the youthful and cocky Susan Ross from Seinfeld that we know and love. Also, congrats to little Jacob Smith. He was great at playing the part of Adam. See it when it comes on again.

The Wonderful World of Disney: Geppetto (2000)

TV movie goodness
8 May 2000
'Geppetto' was cute, but did we really need a new Pinocchio? NO. Is this age the age of remakes? YES. Julia Louis-Dreyfus was radiant as the Blue Fairy (the female less-than-equal to Jiminy Cricket) and her voice is beautiful, which goes well with the dress. That was the only thing that was great about the movie. The graphics are cheap. The added storyline and new songs, however, were a new treat. I liked it, but it wasn't the greatest ever. Want a good movie? Rent the original.

Best Kid's Movie Ever!!!
1 May 2000
Whoever thinks that this movie stunk needs to get a life and watch the movie a couple of times. It was very real about how your friends can turn against you by things that you write. Michelle Trachtenberg deserved an award for this movie. It does take a while to move, but, at the end, it was exceptionally great. It's more of a movie for the family than just for the kids. I love it. If you have to pick a movie for everyone, rush to get this and don't think twice. You won't regret it. After the movie, you'll probably want to get a nice composition notebook and write down everything, pun intended.

A step below being a masterpiece
1 May 2000
OH! How could anyone NOT love this movie? It's so good. Andie MacDowell and John Turturro make such a cute movie couple. The real show stealer was Michael Richards. Through the movie, you're not saying, 'Hey, why is Kramer being serious?' Instead, you say, 'Wow, Michael Richards is a good actor.' This was a rare opportunity to see him do a better-than-Kramer-by-not-being-Kramer performance. I would love to see him do more serious work like this. It's very tearful at the end. Parts are mildly funny, but this movie is pure drama and it's beautiful.

Underrated, Great Movie
1 May 2000
This is probably one of the best romantic-comedy-drama movies I have ever seen. Sure, 'My Best Friend's Wedding' was good, too, but 'The Marrying Man' was great without all of the publicity. Alec Baldwin gives a radiant performance from slick, rich, toothpaste company heir that dates a young Elisabeth Shue to a slick, rich, toothpaste company heir that dates lounge singer (and future wife, both in the movie and outside) Kim Basinger to a bum who marries the same lady four times, hence the title. At times, I did get a little bored, but after I watched it for the second time, I saw things I didn't see the first time. This movie is a hidden gem for the acquired taste. Although I wouldn't recommend it for little kids or people who get bored with movies during the first ten minutes, it was a really great movie.

The Wonderful World of Disney: Life-Size (2000)
Season 3, Episode 8

An OK movie
28 April 2000
Lindsay Lohan, my favorite young actress, has failed me in this movie. 'Life Size' was very far from being trashy, but it wasn't a masterpiece. The first problem was that the story of parent-dies, child-mourns thing has been done to death. A lot of the scenes are somewhat predictable and the song at the end made me want to keel over. Still, Lindsay Lohan is a fine actress and by herself, she held my attention to the end of the movie. My suggestion to anyone who hasn't seen it is to borrow it from someone who's actually going to buy it, watch it and see for yourself. I could watch 'The Parent Trap' all day. 'Life Size', on the other hand, well...

North (1994)
Almost good movie
24 August 1999
This movie wasn't as good as I thought, but it's okay. The idea was a very good one, but not realistic. The script should've been rewritten a couple times. One of the only good things about this movie was the casting. Don't be fooled. Great actors & a shallow plot didn't make this a legendary movie. If you do see it, make sure to bring the family, because it's cute enough for everyone to see. Even Grandma.
