Highlander: Endgame (2000)
EXCELLANT/NEEDED LESS EDITING & LONGER MOVIE
I joined the Highlander world almost 4 years ago. I had not seen the original movie until after a certain good looking Immortal by the name of Duncan MacLeod, Adrian Paul, caught my eye on USA Network one day. I have been a fan ever since.
This movie had the unfortunate luck to have been left in the "let's cut as much time off of it so it won't be any longer than 2hrs department." It is very well acted & the fights superb. It has not gotten a fair shake in the Reviewer World, but what else is new? If you're not between 12 & 30 something, forget it.
I deeply hope that movie studios will notice the untapped talent Adrian Paul is. There are few actors as capable as he is. One thing that detracted from the film was that it didn't begin to show the range & talent & abilities of that actor.
So, in closing, am I a little disappointed? Somewhat. Will that keep me from seeing the movie again & again &? Certainly not! Will I beg & plead for a longer, uncut version from Panzer & Davis (the producers & owners of the HL franchise)? You bet! Will I encourage anyone I know to go to see the movie & not listen to people that think they know everything there is to know about movies? Absolutely!
Susan's Plan (1998)
Another step for Adrian
This is a funny, nonsense movie that should not ever be taken literally. I laughed almost all the way through it. I have only one criticism of the list of cast members. Most of the lists (including the one broadcasted on Max) neglect to mention Adrian Paul as the guy all the others are trying to kill. Can't you tell? I'm a huge fan of Adrian's. Anyway, at the showing here in Dallas my daughter-in-law went with me to the film festival. She really likes John Landis & was thrilled to meet him & get his autograph. She told him the only reason she was there was because her mother-in-law-(me) was one of Adrian's following. (Of course, there were others of us in the audience as well). Mr.Landis asked her if I approved of how he used him in the film. She responded yes, that I did. Since this was the first time I had the opportunity to see Mr. Paul on the big screen, it is a night I shan't forget. Well worth seeing.
For Love of the Game (1999)
One of Kevin's best
This is a moving, well done movie with fine directing & acting on everyone's parts. To some it may appear sappy, but I wonder if those types of folks pull wings off of butterflies, too. Kevin has given one of his best performances. It is a must see for everyone.
