Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Who said she can act?
Very bad acting. Very bad script. Very bad direction. What a let down. Gadot is as beautiful as she is the worst actress to hit the superheto firmament. Paid 30 bucks to syream this awful mess on xmas day. Ruined xmas or whatever was left of it after cpvid. A disappointing film for a disappointing year. Want my money back.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010)
Crap
I cannot find one single thing to say in its favour. The script is derivatively atrocious and the direction is amateurish with no sense of story telling. Instead it finds inspiration by resorting to an avid appetite to rip off images from other movies. To add insult to injury, the acting is monumentally substandard compared to anything anything else on TV. The obvious myopic and failed attempt to imitate the same visual tapestry as 300 makes it painful to watch. And this only from the first episode. This has cost money, lots of it and it is obvious that more attention was paid to the visuals than content. A total and unmitigated waste. Will not be returning to this crap.
A Previous Engagement (2008)
Worst movie of the year
The script had promise. Any other praise for this movie has to come only from those involved in trying to sell this sad attempt at movie making. This must be one of the worst films I ever saw. The actors, at least the two that could act, floundered in mediocre sets, mediocre supporting cast and worse of all, a mediocre direction that could not be worse had it been directed by a blind director. There is no idea of pacing, composition, and anything else that could have led the actors to abandon their over acted hysterics and try to inject some believable interpretation to the characters. There were a couple of laughs but I think it was the result of embarrassment rather than genuine comedy. This film was shot in the island of Malta and in particular the old medieval city of Mdina. Well, they might as well have shot it on a back lot in Hampstead Heath. There was absolutely no feel for the imposing scenery that is there for the taking. I'll stop this review here for there is a lot more misery to mention and I have already lost too much effort on this movie. I'm just angry at having wasted money and time on this film. If you ever come across it on TV, RUN!
Category 6: Day of Destruction (2004)
It's the weather stupid!
What i hate most in this garbage is the arrogant attitude of the film makers and network execs who foist this nonsense on the public because they really think the audience is so stupid, so undeserving, so tasteless as to deserve these kind of cons. There is an inherent entertainment is seeing disaster movies and with the magic of today's CGI effects artists are given powerful tools to explore what before was denied them. With that allure we sat down to watch some mayhem and destruction. Well, guess what, the only mayhem we saw was in the ads touting next Wednesday's episode. What a let down! But wait, there was even a bigger one. The script itself was the bigger disaster! And then there was the direction and the flaccid acting by everyone involved in this turkey. But we knew this before right?! We knew that effects alone do not an entertainment make, but yet the network bozos who Okayed this TV movie didn't care about that because in their mantra is the everlasting line "never underestimate how stupid the audience are". These guys must actually live by this motto, and I am so fed up of it. No wonder the audience has abandoned US drama in droves and pitched their camp in reality shows. at least in those programs no one is trying to make it look like anything different from what it is: intellectual pornography. Well, Category 6 is worse than that because it assumes to be different and "original". Yes this was a disaster movie alright but the disasters are not what they advertised!
Birth (2004)
I'm so angry I want my money back
What a piece of utter nonsense! Just came out of the movie, 15 mins ago and have rushed to write this. I don't usually react like this but this piece of absolute crap has me fuming mad. Thematically speaking, why are these adults all acting like idiots? What kind of story editors actually gloss over such holes in a movie that pretends and aspires to be given a modicum of respect? Some misguided critics, are comparing it to 6th sense. What an arrogant mistake! While that film had a logic that moved along and helped inspire a voluntary suspension of disbelief, this crapola tries to, insists, demands you dumb yourself down to accept such a preposterous idiocy, you will start to squirm in your seat with embarrassment. No, I am not talking about the scene in the bath, there is absolutely NOTHING there, and to have this film considered on the morality or lack thereof of this sequence is as immature as those trying to find logic in this drivel. I am also embarrassed for Nicol Kidman, whom I respect as a great actress. What made you accept to do this movie Miss Kidman? This is far from entertaining, and far from offering you any opportunity to discover new ground. What a pity. What a pity!
