One of the best romance films out there
3 October 2000
I usually do not like romances, but there was something about "Message in a Bottle" that captured my attention, and kept it the whole way through. The actors were great(especially Paul Newman) and the music was even better. It was played appropriately in each scene, and the songs actually made sense. The romance between Penn's and Costner's character is something extremely rare that you don't see in every movie. The scenes between Paul Newman and Kevin Costner were some of the best in the movie. This is the type of movie to watch by a warm fireplace on the couch...go rent it if you haven't yet/already!!! My rating: 8 out of 10.

Sailor Moon (1992–1997)
Absolutely Beautiful Series
3 October 2000
This is the best series in Sailor Moon, with Sailor Stars in a close second, Classic third, and SuperS and Return last. Surprisingly, this one is much more mature than Return, Classic, and even SuperS. Rei has a dream of the oncoming silence, and witnesses death all around her. Unfortunately, she keeps this to herself, until the end of the season, when all of her sadness comes pouring out. This series marks the debut of Sailor Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn. Chibi-usa also plays a much bigger part here, too, as she befriends Hotaru and awakens the truth within. The relationship between Uranus and Neptune is beautiful, and is probably one of the reasons this series has fared so well. For those of you out there who have only seen the dub, and not the Japanese version, you are missing quite a bit. The biggest and most noticeable change is that in the dub Uranus and Neptune are cousins, however, in the original, they are lesbians. There is also more death and violence in the original. Themes that are covered in this season are friendship & kindness, death & sorrow, rebirth & reincarnation, and the fact that love can triumth over all. Those of you dubbies out there should try to find yourselves a fansub of this series..you're missing out! My rating: 10 out of 10...perfect!

The Cell (2000)

A truly unique thriller, although not for the weak
3 September 2000
This is truly one of the most unique movies I have seen all summer, although not the best. It certainly has the visual effects, and the acting isn't too bad either. Surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez actually does a good acting job. I was a little skeptical on my way into the theater, but she proved me wrong. The 2 Vince's also deserve credit, as they did wonderful jobs too. I see this movie walking away from the Oscars with the best costume design and best visual arts...My rating: 8 out of 10...go see it if you haven't yet!

This was a genuinely bad movie.
2 September 2000
From the previews, I was really looking forward to this movie. Boy, was I disappointed. I expected that something with Richard Gere and Winona Ryder in it could be a good movie. Even the plot sounded intriguing...To be honest, I thought this was going to be Oscar material. I was dead wrong. The only good scene in this movie, was when Gere first saw Ryder from a distance in the hotel resturaunt. After that scene the movie slowly slid down hill, and landed in a muddy ditch by the time the credits rolled. Some of the things that came out of Winona's mouth during the movie made me wonder if her character was going crazy? "I can smell the rain"? I think Joan Chen tried a little too hard for a romance. All the romantic scenes became sappy scenes. She dies at the end, and that's all you need to know. Do you know what this movie seriously needs? Better actors and a better director! Avoid this one at all costs folks. My rating: 0.5 out of 10 (the 0.5 for the Autumn scenes and the Resturaunt scene)

A good, funny movie, with mediocre acting.
11 August 2000
This was an OK movie. It had its scenes. But I guess I went in with my expectations a little too high. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but something was missing. I wished that it wasn't all football, and that there was more of a romance between Brooke Langton's and Keanu Reeve's characters. Oh well, not all movies are perfect. The strippers/cheerleaders were a nice touch. My rating: 2 out of 4

Hollow Man (2000)
10/10
Creepy thriller...all around fun!
11 August 2000
This movie is one of the best horror/thrillers of the summer! Kevin Bacon and Elisabeth Shue do superb performances! The co-stars also do a great job, too. Even though the plot has been done before (The Invisible Man), the movie was still worth a watch, and worth the money paid to get in! In the beginning I was wondering if it was a horror or a drama? But I guess they had to develop Kevin Bacon's character so that he would be known more than "the dude who went invisible and killed people". The movie ended too suddenly though. I mean, they get into the ambulance and it's over? I was hoping there would be some sort of twist, or that the door would be left open for a sequel. My rating: 8 out of 10

Good, but not the best
11 August 2000
This movie was good, but the other two are better. Angela is somewhat different in this than in Sleepaway Camp 2, and I don't like that. The only thing that I really like about this films are the death scenes, and let me tell you, some of them get very creative. Angela tricks a bitchy reporter into sniffing DRAIN-O, pulls a guys arms off, and even runs over someone's head with a lawnmower! Another thing that was lacking in this film is gore. That is the trademark of the Sleepaway Camp series, and in this one, there wasn't as much! I would have liked Cindy's death to be bloodier, because it sure could have been. Other than that, this is a pretty good movie. My rating: 2.5 out of 4

Very campy, and overall fun!
7 August 2000
This movie is definitely a keeper! It has everything expected of a horror movies of the 80's! Teens, sex, nudity, rock music, and plenty of blood and gore to go around for everyone! Although, I don't think this movie is very scary. More of a parody/comedy. By the end, I found myself cheering Angela on! The characters are the type that you just love to hate! The best kind! Angela may be too likeable, but I don't find that as a flaw. To be honest, I'd be more scared of a HAPPY serial killer than an emotionless killing machine. There are some classic scenes in this movie, including a scene where Angela drowns a character in an outhouse toilet! That's only the beginning. She also BBQ's twin sisters on a giant grill. It don't get much campier than this folks. ;) A must see! My rating: 7 out of 10

A classic 80's horror movie!
7 August 2000
Many people do not like this movie. I, however, love it, with the exception of creepy Aunt Martha! This movie is definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach. Especially the water snake death and death by curling iron. Those are some shockers! But nothing, and I mean NOTHING is more disturbing than the ending! Whoa, that was still fresh in my mind weeks after watching it! Talk about creepy. My rating: 8 out of 10

The in Crowd (2000)
10/10
A very twisted, yet strangely good movie.
20 July 2000
This movie was very twisted, but then again, one might come to that conclusion by watching the previews alone. Don't get me wrong, though, twisted isn't bad. This movie had a few good points. The actresses and actors, although virtually unknown, are HOT. The acting was pretty good. Britney is the type of girl that you just love to hate! If you like a good drama/thriller with a few twists here or there, then go see this movie. If not, then wait to rent it on video, if at all. My rating **1/2 out of ****

Scream 3 (2000)
10/10
Wonderfully terrifying and absolutely hilarious! **SPOILERS**
12 February 2000
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely loved the opening scene with Cotton and Kristine! I also liked the way that after the opening scene it went right to Sydney and the story begins! Parker Posey, Jenny McCarthy, Scott Foley, Emily Mortimer, and Kelly Rutherford really give this film flavor. I would also like to give praise to Roger Jackson for doing the voice because he did a wonderful job too. The Arquettes and Sydney played their parts well. My only complaint is Courtney's hair!! The ending was terrific too. I was so surprised when I found out Sydney had a brother, and even more surprised when I found out it was Roman Bridger. I recommend this film to anybody who likes horror movies(the Scream series imparticular)! You won't be disappointed. My grade: 8 out of 10. GO SEE IT IF YOU HAVEN'T YET!
