The Demolitionist (1995)
What an incredibly bad movie
This movie has no redeeming value. If it is a satire then why did they plan sequels? Only good satire has sequels, and then rarely. The effects are bad. The guns she uses never have to reload. She's impervious to grenades. The acting is some of the worst ever captured on celluloid. It's just plain bad. I wish I could give it a negative rating.
Bedazzled (2000)
Eye candy and good humor
I liked this movie alot. I went into it expecting just Elizabeth Hurley eye candy, but I was pleasantly surprised. I laughed alot in this movie, because they didn't dumb it down and make it full of fart/dick/scatological jokes (a.k.a. There's Something About Mary and the like).
The drug lord sequence was great. The basketball sequence was hilarious. The commentary was so funny because it was just a little exaggerated, but not much. The sequence where he wishes to be President is good too. I won't give that away.
The end was nice. A story where he realizes he has to just be himself to be happy. I loved God in the movie, and God and the Devil playing chess at the end.
Overall, a really good movie. Full of laughs.
High Fidelity (2000)
I'll keep this short
There's a lot of reviews here so I'll keep it short. I'm a big fan of John Cusack, and he meets the challenge once again. This is a great movie because it is REAL. I'm sitting there identifying with his actions. When he looks out the store to see the shy guy and his newfound love, I can FEEL the emotions in Rob's mind. I KNOW what he was thinking without him even having to say it.
Cusack is brilliant in this movie, as is the rest of the cast. Great movie.
Oh, and while Rob is reminiscing about he and Laura hearing Ian have sex in the apartment above them, check out the title on Laura's book in the flashback. "Love Thy Neighbor". Great touch.
