Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July —
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear —
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still he haunts me, phantomwise,
Slowly moving under skies
Yet never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream —
Lingering in the golden gleam —
Life, what is it but a dream?

Whispers (2015)
Laughable "Horror"
The creator who is obviously the one who is having a conniption fit in the latest positive reviews needs to seek help and a writing, directing and producing class, stat! This drivel of an awful, laughable "horror" film is worse than sitting through a dentists's appointment, and yet, desperately, the outed creator is still trying to sell the people they imagine as "poor and unwitting" into giving them their $1 per rental. DO NOT DO IT. It would be better to take that dollar and do something much more interesting with it than watch this awful, laughable film, such as, burn it, make an origami peacock out of it, bury it in the yard, put it down next to the newspaper in the parakeet's cage, use it for a magic trick where you tear it in half, donate it, throw it out your window ... there are literally a million things you could do with it that would be far more entertaining that watching this.
Moonlight (2016)
Pretty bad
It is a shame in this day and age that people can't even be honest with themselves, and in not doing so, do more harm to their cause than good.
Simply, this film sucks. No story, no plot, no character development (at least not to the point you care about anyone, including the kid). Just one big dull moment.
The thing is, that by 'fluffing' the piece up or saying it is better than it is just because it is a 'black' film it is like saying: This is the best we can do, and when REAL people watch it (not fake reviewers or people fluffing it), they'll say, "Really? Well that was pretty bad." And so, where is the real win?
Had it not been for Mahershala Ali who I love on House of Cards, I would have wanted to give this a NEGATIVE 1, as it is, a 2 is generous.
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
A Very Timely Series That Is a Must See
Like others on here, I too could regale you with moving words that would depict my experience and thoughts while watching this. I thought it best however to simply suggest that those who believe such a thing could not happen, or that we are nowhere near what is depicted in this show, scroll down and read the review by gene0915 from United States (unfortunately it has been deleted or removed now).
See for yourself how that level of rage, bitterness, hate, misogyny, impotence and homophobia is alive and well.
Enough said.
This is a powerful series with a tremendous message and a must-see for every person alive.
The Promise (2016)
MASTERFUL in every way
I am one who doesn't afford great reviews lightly. A film must earn it. It should have something exceptional about it.
This one, has SO many exceptional things working for it. A definite must see for everyone from casual film goers to movie buffs. You will not be disappointed.

Oh, and as a heads-up / reminder - I see many wonderful reviews for it, that have no rating. If you loved it, like I did, and you left a review, be sure you added your rating to it.
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Ratings are DEAD. Bring on the next thing.
Honestly, in today's world of people with hardly any integrity, who think ratings can be bought or sold, or who are either/or people and think that the way they feel that morning can and should be taken out on a film, without intelligently being able to process it, the rating system should no longer exist.
You have the little kids with media at their fingertips, and the old have-no-lifes truly still living in mom's basement (figuratively and literally) with computers stuck to their noses, pirating films because they have nothing better to do, and thinking they are critics, when they probably can't even wipe correctly. And don't get me started on the so called serious critics.
All in all, it has made for an now outdated and no longer valid system which should be folded up and incinerated since no one really would be able to fix or correct it. The Rating System, where people rate a film on its merit and its merit alone, is dead.
This film for example was AMAZINGLY ENJOYABLE. No, it wasn't as noteworthy as Citizen Kane or The Birth of a Nation, but COME the HOLY FRICK ON. Are you really SUCH a dufus that you are sitting down to watch something like this expecting it to be? The same people who expect that, are the ones that go to a drive-thru expecting to buy steak on the 99-cent menu. Fools. The problem with today's society is, that there are too many of these fools, and that these fools choose to first fool themselves into thinking they aren't fools.
For those of you who are not crying in their pants and are still reading (you are maybe a non-fool), go watch this movie. You can tell, from the very first scene, that the people involved in making it took the time to try and bring you (us) a quality product. For the most part, IMO, they succeeded. It is HIGHLY entertaining, the characters are interesting and mostly well-acted, there is humor, anger, the CG is fantastic ... Yes, I agree that Samuel Jackson is pretty played out and when they put him in the game, you always get the same character more or less, but even he can't detract much from KONG, who is after all, the star.
Do yourself a favor. Spring for the cost of a ticket or two, take your best friend or lover and go SEE it for yourself. Unless you are hurting for $18, and you are normal, you probably won't come back cry- babying due to lost time or lost money like some of these 'raters' are doing. (Like I really believe the ones complaining actually paid to see it and saw it on the big screen as opposed to their laptop screens). You'll have a great time.
Session 9 (2001)
Truly Wonderful
There are two kinds of horror movies.
One, the ones that need to rely on gore to get a reaction from an audience. The other, the kind that requires a brain in order to process the fear-inducing story. I think the one that requires a brain is the best kind because there is no limit to what the mind can make you feel, and when done right, the second kind of movie will take you to heights of horror and suspense that the first kind of movie can only aspire to.
This movie, Session 9, falls in the category of the second kind and that is apparent by the number of people who have chosen to rate it based on their limited taste for just gore, with no substance.
So, in closing I won't go into what happens in the movie, because that is the fun, but will simply say that if you are looking for a chop-'em- up, blood squirting in your face slasher flick, this isn't it. If you are looking for a suspenseful little flick that builds the creep and fear factor, enjoy.
If you are a connoisseur of FEELING a movie, you will hopefully be back to rate it accordingly.
Emeryville (2016)
Soooo F*****NG Tired of FAKE REVIEWS
So when did fake reviews become a 'thing'?
In the last two weeks we have seen films that had NO business being in theaters because we simply looked at the score. Trust me when I tell you that you can't do this anymore. READ the reviews, and you will easily see which are FAKE.
First of all, any film that you haven't heard of previously with a 9 or 10 star rating from anyone should put you on-guard. (That's not to say that a 9 or 10-star rating alone is a clear indication of funny business). Secondly, if, as many of the 9 and 10 star reviewers here have done, the reviewer starts extolling the virtues of those involved in the film, by name (i.e., director Miles Doleac is fantastic and has brought his great vision to the screen!) it might be a sign the the reviewer is a shill. One person here talks about how the people involved in making this movie used all their money to do so. Well, I don't mean to be a witch, but what does that have to do with it being a good movie? While I feel badly for the creator for having sunk their life's savings into it, why would that make me or anyone else LIE and say it is good, when it is not? Third, the old closing of: "Watch it!", "Enjoy it!", "Get it on Amazon" ... should immediately raise a red flag, "Don't wait, you need to see it now", "Don't listen to others, listen to ME (or variations) are always dead giveaways. (Several 9 and 10-star reviews here have all of these).
Unfortunately, it seems that we live in an age where people seem to have a very low moral code and don't hesitate to lie at the drop of a hat and where anything (including integrity) can be purchased for pennies for the sake of the mighty dollar.
This movie is CRAP. I can't tell you if the ending redeemed it, because I could not get that far, but what I saw of it is enough to base my opinion on. To those that say, well how do you know if you didn't watch the end, you don't need to scoop out the contents of a diaper to know it is full of poop, and yes, I did, unfortunately, sit through enough of it to know. It is just BAD.
Anyway, if you want to take my word for it, you're welcome. If not, and you choose to watch it, don't say you weren't forewarned.
The Ninth Configuration (1980)
It Gets Better
I have seen this movie more times than I can count, and have found that it gains something EACH AND EVERY time I view it. I am still astounded that it hasn't received the recognition it deserves.
I can't recall another film, ever, that has held up so well on repeat viewing or that has affected me as much as this one has.
