Díszelöadás (1955)
A sweet little collection of dance and musical scenes.
The most charming was perhaps the section in which legendary operetta star Hanna Honthy was visited by a little fan, played by Kálmán Koletár (a Hungarian child actor who's carreer had a mysteriously short lived span), and as they together looked at her photo album, a few of the photos came to life, as the ageless primadonna sang songs from her long time ago successes. The Blue Danube Waltz scene was memorable for the beautiful singing of Mária Gyurkovics, a great opera star, who unfortunately didn't work much in films.
Janika (1949)
Actress plays dual role: herself and imaginary son (Janika) in order to lure back estranged husband.
Famous actress lures back her estranged husband by creating and playing a non-existent son (Janika). This role was written for the star of the film (Ida Turay) by her husband-writer (István Békeffy) originally for the stage. Although some of the extreme close-ups weren't too kind especially when she was dressed up as the young boy (Janika), the charm of the movie captured the essence of success of the stage play very entertainingly. Many first class Hungarian entertainers appear in the film and giving their very best performace, as usual.
