Not That Great
24 February 2001
There was so much hype about this movie, I couldn't wait to spend 2 plus hours with Mel Gibson. Besides him being easy on the eyes, this movie sucked. It was cutesie and sleek, but it tried too hard in some places and not hard enough in others. The idea was cute but the film makers failed to use all the potential. Marissa Tomei, as coffee house vixen-wanna be actress, Lola, had no point except to proclaim that "Nick Marshall{Mel ,of course} is a sex god." Helen Hunt's character, Darcy, was luke warm. You almost felt bad for her, but not bad enough. I was mainly distracted by her weird closed-mouth smile. Mel Gibson, himself, was funny a few times, but after his amazing dance with Sinatra playing in the back ground, and an almost-naked bathroom shot, he was BORING. If you enjoy Mel Gibson chick-flicks, check this out. If your looking for substance or laughs, head for the theater, I hear The Family Man is good.

Great!

This movie is pure magic, even if it is scary and gross. The acting is wonderful and it is so haunting, that I didn't sleep for weeks after. Hannibal is a cult icon now and this movie is one of the best ever made. Despite some extremely gory parts(that are all well placed and probably necessary) this is an amazing piece of work.

The Party (1980)
Great!

We watched this movie in my french class with English subtitles. It's hysterical, we couldn't stop laughing, a must see for the 80's french enthusiast! With great characters, odd themes, and the funniest one-liners ever, this is a can't miss, even 20 years after it came out!
