The Duchess (2008)
6/10
Too old for the role
4 June 2019
The was a good one in most parts but the use of Ralph Fiennes as the Duke was wrong at 46 he was far too old to play the Duke of Devonshire. When Georgiana Spencer was 17 she married William Cavendish the Duke of Devonshire a man who was only 26 so a 46 year old was way too old. fun fact her son became the 6th Duke but never married William Cavendish oldest son of third son of 4th Duke who was married to Georgiana's granddaughter

Typical americanised crap
21 October 2013
I couldn't give it 0 out of 10. The whole thing is crap the four friends with modern American names instead of the 4 Maries which is what her friends where actually called. Modern dresses they didn't have strapless dress it was full slieved dresses. Modern manners and dances. It couldn't be any more inaccurate why bother with history if you are going to try and modernise it? Americans try to do history with a modern slant it doesn't work. Mary went to Scotland when she was five she was brought up french which is why the scots nobility didn't like her. She went on to marry her cousin had him murdered and married the man who murdered him. She would have not expect him to be faithful. He would have been expected to have mistresses and kids by them. He was younger than her and weaker the chances of him living long was little.
