Tears of the Sun (2003)
Tears From the Sun
Talk about a movie that's not only a real tear-jerker but also it's as realistic as it comes. This is just the type of movie we need to see, because of recent events. Just to give us a better understanding of war a little bit more. Even though I think it's pointless. But anyways, everyone in the world should see this movie. A movie with unforgettable performances and an unforgettable script. Check out the ending quote. Well, see the movie that will be talk about for many years. And you'll definately get Tears from the Sun from this movie.
Barbershop (2002)
Everyone needs to get lined up
Heartfelt comedy that never stops with laughter and drama. Great cast, crew, and just all around great. I could watch this movie a million times, and still won't be bored of it. I love the concept and the potential it has. I just wish all movies could be as hearty as this is. So, all you out there should get lined up to get the best sit in the Barbershop. Just make sure you don't drink Eve's apple juice and always let Cedric the Entainer tell Ice Cube, you, and the others about history and morals.
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Yeah Baby!
Austin Powers third film and perhaps the best out of the three. In fact, I loved this movie so much that I saw this movie three times in the theater. It just gets better everytime I see it. With all the cameos and great actors and a great crew, this film is the best. Jay Roach (the director) does it again. He knows how to shoot comedies and Mike Myers knows how to make them. So, this Austin Powers movie should be seen by every person in the world. They can make a million of these movies and it still won't be enough. So, I hope there's more Austin Power films to come around. Yeah Baby!
Door to Door (2002)
Patience and Persistent
Bill Porter was a man pretty much everybody knew and loved on his little neighborhood. They never really noticed him until he was gone (retired). He meant a lot to people's hearts and minds. All he would say is that he's just a salesman trying to pay for the rent. But we know he's a lot more than that. And I believe this movie, does a great job at showing how nice of a man he is. William H. Macy does a terrific performance as the salesman Bill Porter. And him and Steve Schacter did a great job together. This story has warmth, love, and yes even tragic in it. So, see the story of a different kind of hero. And visit Bill Porter's website at www.billporter.com/ if you have any cleaning troubles or anything. Just give it patience and persistent.
Road to Perdition (2002)
Down a long and interesting road
Sam Mendes (director of American Beauty) does yet another great masterpiece. With an all star cast including Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law, Stanley Tucci, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. With a newcomer Tyler Hoechlin playing Michael Sullivan Jr.. Every actor or actress did just the perfect job. With a superb screenplay, based upon a graphic novel by Richard P. Rayner and Max A. Collins.
Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks) let's just say that he helps to take out what is known as the trash. He has a very good relationship with his family and friends. But one day, a problem arises when Michael Sullivan Jr. (Tyler Hoechlin) discovers something about his dad he shouldn't have. What this does, is lead you into a world of total evil, mistrust, confusion, and a long and interesting road to Perdition.
I'm not going to say anymore. The rest is all up to you to decide and figure everything out. And if you know if Michael Sullivan was a good man or a man who never knew the meaning of the word good.
Men in Black II (2002)
"Back in Black"
Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent Jay (Will Smith)are at it again. With the evil villain not being a big-a** cockroach like the Edgar impersonator (Vincent D'Onofrio), but a sexy new alien villain played by Lara Flynn Boyle. With director Barry Sonnenfeld, this movie is gonna be just as big as the first one. Like the first Men in Black, I loved it. Now, people may say this is better, but I think that they're pretty much great in their own way. I mean, in this you are given a plot with more complex creatures, weapons, and cars.
Now, of course, where would the movie be without the head guy Zed (Rip Torn) and the dog who stills it all, Frank. Also, with a new character played by Rosario Dawson.
So, see this blockbuster hit. If you don't, then you may be visited by Jeff.
The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002)
Forgive me father, but you should see this movie
What can I say about this comedy of love, coming of age, catholic school, and comics. All that I can say is that this is a great movie. Not only is this a great movie, but it also shares a great cast, crew, and great animation squences.
In this movie, it's about four catholic boys dreaming about making a comic called, "The Atomic Trinity". Now, the person who does the animation squences is the same man who draws the "Spawn" comics. So, of course, it's going to be weird. But beside that, it's a movie that everyone should see (even if you never been in a catholic school).
Anyways, who wouldn't want to see a movie about four boys trying to get back at a vindictive b**** of a nun (played by Jodie Foster). This comic/dramatic film also includes Vincent D'Onofrio as the priest. So, forgive me father, but you should see this movie.
Young Einstein (1988)
It's a Great Invention
I have to say that this movie is as comedic as they come. I mean every time I watch this movie I always have a smile on my face. And every scene is just funny as hell. I love this movie. But there are some people that will disagree with me. But I still recommend this movie. This movie was conceived by Yahoo Serious (who plays Albert Einstein and also directed and wrote the movie). This is his best invention of all. He could come up with a million good ideas, but he could never surpass this hilarious movie. So, see this movie (if you can find it).
Minority Report (2002)
Wouldn't You Run?
"Minority Report" is a movie, that I can say, was a great hit. The direction by Steven Spielberg was just fascinating. Each scene of the movie was interesting and amazing. I couldn't have picked a better cast: Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, and Max von Sydow. In this movie, Tom Cruise plays John Anderton (who's the head officer of the Pre-Crime Building). You get to see John's life and work as the movie progesses. And as the movie progesses you get to know Max von Sydow (Director Burgess the owner of the Pre-Crime Building) and Colin Farrell (Detective Ed Witwer). See, what happens is that John is accused of a crime that you don't know if he's going to commit it or not. In the movie, you see every possibilites present itself.
The big question is, what would you do if you were innocent, got accused of committing a crime? Maybe you would run. Everybody runs.
About a Boy (2002)
No Man is an Island
Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz (American Pie) do it again with "About a Boy". It seems as though they took some directing tips from Wes ANDERSON, as well. And talk about a perfect screenplay, a great cast and crew, and a great message. The cast includes Hugh Grant (Will), Toni Collette (Fiona), Rachel Weisz (Rachel), Sharon Small (Christine), and Nicholas Hoult (Marcus).
See, Will (Hugh Grant) is a man who believes he is an island. Watching T.V., breaking women's hearts, and doing nothing (hey that sounds like me). But he isn't an island for long. Nope. As a matter of fact, the second he isn't an island anymore is when he meets a boy called Marcus (Nicholas Hoult). How he meets him, you'll have to find that out by seeing the movie.
I really loved watching this movie. I would want to see this about 2 or 3 more times in the theater again.
This is the comedy that brings it all. It gives a nice balance to being serious and comedic. I recommend this movie to every person alive. You will love it, no matter what. Even if you're not an island.
Bad Company (2002)
Two Heads Are Better Than One
Yes, this movie is another "48 Hours" or "Beverly Hills Cop". Or another movie that just has explosions, and gun fire everywhere. But still, this movie is worth the while and the money. Chris Rock (playing duel roles) and Anthony Hopkins are perfect as the two leads. They bring comedy and drama to the screen. Both play very smart, intelligent, and funny characters. As for the directing, Joel Schumacher does a great job.
So, see this movie. Don't listen to the bad reviews. It only counts on what you think. Not what a bunch of old a******* think (with a few exceptions). They're just getting paid for what anybody else could do. Besides "Bad Company" comes in good supplies.
Insomnia (2002)
You Won't Be Able to Sleep
This summer has its number one thriller already out, Insomnia. A great movie from beginning to end. You have a great cast (Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hiliary Swank), a great director (Christopher Nolan), a great screenplay, and just great over all.
Don't have to worry about this one. You can relax instead of trying to figure it out, like Memento. It's a cat and mouse movie. It moves back and fourth from the good guy to bad guy. You already know who the killer is, and all the director does is bring you along for the ride.
Each scene of the movie, was memorizing. Plus, it had a great scenery. The setting is in Alaska. And it's the time of months for light to shine bright day and night.
So, see the thriller that will be talked about for ages. A movie, even you can't sleep through.
Spider-Man (2002)
Half man, half spider, and a little bit of everything
This is a blockbuster movie like no other. Not only is it from a very popular comic book, but it ends up to become a great movie too. The cast was perfect. Tobey Maguire was the perfect choice for the role of Spider-Man and Kristen Dunst as the beautiful Mary Jane Watson. Then to top it all off, William Dafoe as the evil villian, the Green Gobblin.
Now, some of you out there may not be fans of spider-man. But this movie has it all. Love, hate, saddness, and etc... The script was great for the movie. And, in my opinion, it's the best comic book that has ever been brought to the screen.
Sam Raimi directs this spectacular movie just wonderfully. And so see this blockbuster hit. Besides, you may be the next photographer for your school paper and move on to bigger and better things. Well, not everything will be great.
No Man's Land (2001)
No One Wins
No one wins in a war. All you do in a war is lose. Nothing but lose. And that's what "No Man's Land" shows. In a tale where three people(2 bosians and 1 serbian) are struck in a trench. Which one of them has a little problem. Well, in fact they all have their little problems.
A well put together script, a strong cast, and beautiful direction. "No Man's Land" should be a reminder for us all that war is not the answer. Nor hate, for that matter.
Big Trouble (2002)
Big Trouble means Big Fun
Talk about a comedy. With everything that it needs. A great cast, great direction, a great plot/film, and there were even great goats and Gator fans.
This is a film about so many things that I can't start to explain. So many laughs, situations, and hilarious outcomes. Tim Allen plays the father of Ben Foster in this funny-a** film. Alongside with Rene Russo, Tom Sizemore, Johnny Knoxville, and the list goes on. Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) directs a great movie. So, see the comedy that will be talked about for ages. But make sure you don't get strip searched by anybody on the way (see the movie to find who gets that).
Showtime (2002)
"It's...Showtime!"
Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy, what a team. While Rene Russo, William Shanter, and that guy from the Everyday video are alongside for the ride. This is a funny and a great movie. Not only is it that, but it's a good buddy flick.
Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon) directs this hell of a movie. From start to finish, it was a masterpiece. No slapstick humor here. But good old time laughs. Making fun of all other cop flicks (to name a few Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, Fifteen Minutes, and etc...)
If you want to see a movie, see this one. You'll love it. It has a wonderful cast and crew. So, get off your a** from watching "COPS" and watch "Showtime" for a cop film. And remember, they'll be protrolling your neighbor at um...um...oh! At Friday nights at 8:00 (man, everyone says I'm a bad writer).
We Were Soldiers (2002)
They Were Soldiers
The movie that everyone will be talking about. With every emotion in one whole movie. Every performance is powerful. From the youngest to oldest actors/actresses. There were hardly any flaws, in this realistic world of those who lived and fought in Vietnam. Narrated by Barry Pepper who plays the very courageous Joe Galloway. And with a powerful cast alongside (Mel Gibson,Sam Elliot,Madaeline Stowe,Chris Klein,Keri Russell, and many more).
Lt. Col. Hal Moore (Mel Gibson) is assigned to lead the 7th Cavirly of the Paratroopers. Assisted by Sam Elliot (a real hard a**,but a good friend). And Snakes*** (Greg Kinnear) as one of their pilots. All these soldiers fought not for their country but for each other. And to end my comment I would like to say that, history will always repeat itself. As shown, by Custer and his men.
Orange County (2002)
It's not just a movie, it's a state of grace
What's to say, about the comedy that never stops. Yes, it's not like the comedic masterpiece "The Royal Tenebaums" or the dim-witted comedy "Dude,Where's my Car". But if you combine them both what do you get? This comedy.
A comedy about a teenager going through what teenagers normally go through. Where this teenager (Colin Hanks)hopes to become a writer. Like, a certain character in the story you meet later. When Stanford doesn't except him (from having the wrong transcript sent in) he stops at nothing to get in. With the help of his brother (Jack Black) and his loving/devoting girlfriend (Sissy Spacek's daughter).
So, watch this comedy that never lets go of its sense of humor. And enjoy the ride, which many actors and actresses do to (snap, snap, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more).
Well, like the movie says, "It's not just a place, it's a state of mind".
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
"I wish I was a Tenenbaum"
One of the year's best movies. Everyone who was in it and worked on this knew what they were doing. The cast was great and the crew did a well earned job.
Alec Baldwin plays the narrator in this comedic masterpiece. And he tells a story about a family. In this family you have Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman), Elaine Tenenbaum (Angelica Houston), Margot Tenenbaum (Gywenth Paltrow), Richie Tenenbaum (Luke Wilson), and Chaz Tenenbaum (Ben Stiller). And Henry Serman (Danny Glover) and Eli Cash (Owen Wilson) are close friends of the family. And to finish this wonderful cast up, you have Bill Muarry as Raleigh St. Clair. With his sidekick Dudley.
You don't want to miss this masterpiece. This movie is about comedy alright. To me Wes ANDERSON did better on this movie than Rushmore and Bottle Rocket (no offense). He just knew what he was doing. Well, like Eli Cash said, "I wish I was a Tenenbaum."
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Bestow upon a new epic
The first of the trilogy begins. Not only is it spellbounding, but it catches the soul. It holds a moral we all should receive. You'll have to see the movie to find it. All of the actors were superb. I couldn't pick a better cast. Gandalf was my favorite. Second came all the hobbits. Then, the rest. And if you're choosing between what to see first Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, well see this first (then Harry if you got the time).
Let me tell you, this movie had it all. A great plot, a geat cast, and a beautiful scenery (New Zealand). I recommend this to the fullest. Let the journey begin.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Lions, tigers, and Harry Potter?
Let the magic begin, this November. Harry Potter is nothing more than a wonderous movie. It's spellbinding in every way. Although its long, its worth sitting through it. Every second in the movie, is just enchanting.
This is the next Wizard of Oz. But its even better. There's nothing bad I can say about this movie. It would be a crime not to see it. And if you don't, well I guess that's your bad luck.Cause you don't know what you're missing. Everyone in it and who ever worked on it, were just great. They knew what they were doing. So, stop being a muggle ( see the movie to figure out what that means ) and see this movie. If you don't that nasty troll will get you.
Joy Ride (2001)
What a ride!
The new thriller seems to be Joy Ride. About two brothers who seem to have gone too far with one demented trucker. It just goes to show you, even small things p**s people off. The movie was done perfectly and realistically. Yes, there have been movies like this before. But this one is much better. It just doesn't let up. And instead of leaving you with satisfaction, it leaves you in total terror. This is what a horror/thriller movie is suppose to do. So, if you're looking for excitement and to be scared, then just ask for "CANDYCANE".
