Beacon 23 (2023)
Good show. Not groundbreaking but intriguing.
I disagree with virtually every negative review. The effects were fine. The acting was better than good. The sci-fi was standard but sufficed for the story. The writing and production were never distracting and, often, just felt real.
I almost gave up in the first episode. I didn't read the book and didn't know what to expect. By the time I got to the third episode, I was hooked. Not for the sci-fi, or any other visual fluff, but the characters and intrigue it provoked. It was interesting to me.
I think this is exactly the type of sci-fi we need after far too many action-oriented action sci-fi for action's sake films. Give me real characters with real flaws and real emotions over action scenes and visual effects any day. And this show doesn't disappoint.
It questions humanity, emotions, and intelligence, without dumbing everything down to good vs evil.

I love it
The daily trials and tribulations of work and family life for a wannabe supervillain is just really funny to me. Maybe I like it so much because it's not at all what I expected? I don't know, but I enjoyed it so much that I binged it.
The House (2017)
This movie is hilarious!
There are so many amazing comedic lines and scenarios. Most of the greatest comedy is non-obvious situational interactions between characters. The movie doesn't even highlight many of the laughs. They end up just being how these characters behave. The characters are all very grounded which is pretty amazing considering the silly premise. It includes a great amount of heart as well as a perfect heaping of silliness. If you don't like silly, don't bother. If you're willing to accept that some comedies are intentionally silly and you can pay attention to the interactions between the characters and even consider their motivations and backstories, you will probably like this film and be able to comprehend its hilarity. This is one of my favorite comedies of all time.
