How 2 (1990)
Excellent
Yeah, I agree, it's probably the greatest educational programme for children ever. It came pretty high in a Channel 4 poll recently of the '100 Greatest Children's Shows'. I think the best format so far has either been with Carol or Sian. I hear they're making new episodes on CITV now (May 2006), I haven't got time to watch-so I don't know if it is still Gareth Jones and Fred Dineage presenting with Gail McKenna.
They used repeats of the Carol Vorderman shows on an archive show 'How Goes 2', where they would travel to different locations and show clips that relate to where they are.
The presenters of How 2 (as of May 2006) have been: Fred Dineage, Gareth Jones, Carol Vorderman, Sian Lloyd, Gail Porter and Gail McKenna. I seem to remember there being a bit of controversy over a theme tune that was used for How 2 when Gail M was presenting that sounded remarkably like a Creme Egg advert...
Balls of Steel (2005)
balls of steel
this was an absolutely fantastic programme! i remember there was some big fuss made about tom cruise getting squirted with a water gun on it months before transmission. that made me laugh so much-tom cruise just couldn't take a joke. how many people do you know who have been squirted with water pistols? loads! he obviously thought that he was too big to be squirted. my favourites were definitely the annoying devil and the militant black guy. the only ones i didn't like were the bunny boiler, the man tester and the naked guy. all the rest were hilarious!!! i hope they release this on DVD. its by far one of the best-and most daring- hidden camera shows in history! favourite moment-seven year old kid getting 'tw*t' written on his head by The Annoying Devil. Brilliant!!!
It's a Mystery (1996)
probably neil buchanan's best TV work
i used to love this programme when it was the old format, but in about 2002 2 new presenters came and changed the feel of the show completely. Now, it was a lot more childlike, where I liked the more sinister feel to the old one with sophie aldred, gail porter and tristan wotsisname. In fact i think there was another attempt to resurrect this about a year later with a programme called 'mystery'-awful! I think they should have kept its a mystery-its way better than some of the trash on citv now. anyway, it was educational! it was probably the best programme that neil buchanan worked on. I don't know which came first, but discovery kids' 'mystery hunters' is nowhere near as good!
